Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Handy location, close to all the shops etc. Good size room and nicely decorated. Very clean with comfortable beds. Helpful friendly staff. Really good breakfast. On the negative - no drink making facilities in the room. A shame that the lovely breakfast room, was not open during the day. I’d definitely stay again if we were to return to Venice.

Great location and friendly staff. The room was small, clean with a view over a small plaza. The staff were very friendly, plenty of choice or breakfast and even provided a bottle of wine on my wife's birthday, thank you!

This was such a cute hotel! Totally fits the vibe of Venice. Staff was very friendly and always present. There was a nice patio out back to relax at too. No elevators, so pack lightly! We were on the sixth floor walk up, and the wifi didn't reach our room, but we just sat on the patio to use that. The AC didn't work great up there either, but it was all manageable. The location is unbeatable, maybe a 2 minute walk from St. Mark's Square.

The best receptionists I've encountered for a very long time. All of them. Friendly, professional, efficient. Very rare nowadays. As for the hotel, great location right in the centre, a few steps from St Mark's. It's clean and comfortable (and warm for winter visits) with everything a normal traveller might needs and it is priced very reasonably. Yes there are stairs so probably wouldn't suit the elderly but for anyone else it would be a great choice! I will certainly recommend it to everyone! And, again, the best staff ever!

What I liked: 1. Elena and the person night shift person were better. 2. The check in with Alejandro was smooth. 3. the housekeeping did a great job cleaning and getting the room ready for my arrival. 4. Good location if activities are mostly in or near San Marco Square and Rialto. 5. Good map What I don’t like: 1. Massimiliano was the worst employees among all. He either did not solve problems or tried solving wrong problems. He did not solve any problems. His attitude was not suited to be working at the front desk. He would say "Are you listening" "Come over" "Don't stand here" without courtesy, professionalism, and politeness. 2. Very humid room, opening the window has mosquitos and outside noises, but keeping the window shut was humid and hot. 3. No window screens knowing there are mosquitoes 4. Not designed for shorter guests like me, all cloth hangers including hair dryers are all too high. 5. Clothes couldn’t dry naturally even after 60 hours. 6. Asked for either a stronger chair, or a foot stool or a stick, did not get it solved on the same day. 7. My power bank charger was damaged during my stay at your hotel when I left it in my backpack. Your hotel was unsafe, someone must have entered the room. 8. Inconsistent information: your hotel told me that you couldn’t turn on heater until 15/10/2023 but than you told me the new deadline was 11/10/2023 which you could use central heating and air conditioning. Liar. 9. Poor soundproof between walls-but don’t think there is much you could do, likely all hotels are the same in Venice. But at night it’s relatively quiet outside. Overall: I don’t feel comfortable recommending your hotel mainly because of my power bank charging cord was damaged. You asked all guests to leave the key at the front desk, I followed and trusted, but you did not make sure my personal belongings in the room were safe. I had to purchase another charging cord at my own expense. Your hotel did not apologize nor tried to make it right. You have poor design for shorter people, that’s up to guests to decide after I make it known. The real issue was my things were damaged during my stay at your hotel, that’s why I won’t recommend nor return as a guest. There are many choices in Venice and near your hotel and in between Rialto and San Marco Square. Unlikely I will revisit since I have done what I wanted to do this time. But if I do, I won’t stay your hotel again, and with strange encounters with Massimilianos and damaged personal belongings.

Hotel Orion. Great small hotel just off St. Marks Square. I was very impressed with it only being a 2* grading. Location was excellent if you like to be close to the main attractions. The room was a fine size for two with ensuite shower/toilet. Very clean on arrival and on each subsequent day thereafter. The breakfast was nice with a good continental selection. However, the huge plus with this hotel were the staff...they were all so friendly and pleasant, especially Elena on reception and Jenny at breakfast. Very helpful with info about getting around and a super breakfast box on our early departure. Would highly recommended this hotel to those on a budget.

Hotel was clean, well located a short walk from San Marco square. Next door to convenience store and gelato. Staff was very friendly, helpful, everyone spoke English. Good value for money. Rooms are not modern, but to be expected in Venice.

Couldn’t do enough for us. So helpful and friendly. I’m gluten free - had also wrap options at breakfast each day. Provided a packed breakfast as we had to leave early. Very clean and so central. Would definitely stay there again.

We love this hotel. Great location. Our lovely room was at the back of the hotel so away from any noise of the vibrant square at the front of the hotel. (You need to be able to climb stairs). Small but clean and perfectly functional ensuite. The staff were absolutely lovely, friendly, helpful and welcoming. We cannot praise them enough. If we return to Venice, we return to the Orion.
