Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Hotel Serenissima is located mere steps from St. Mark's Square and Rialto, yet the rates are very attractive. The hotel is decorated with genuine paintings throughout. The room keys are real, old-fashioned keys you have to leave at the front desk when you go out.

The room was on the top (maybe like fifth) floor. It had a bed with a nightstand with a telephone, a table with a TV and a chair, an air conditioner, a suitcase rack, a closet, a mirror, and a waste basket. The furniture was beautifully painted. The tiny bathroom had shower stall, toilet, sink, mirror, hair dryer, and waste basket.

On the flip side, things you don't get in this hotel: safe, elevator, refrigerator. But the staff will help you with your baggage, and there is a tiny bar in the lobby where you can get ice.

The weird issue with only hot water being available at the sink with cold a mere trickle I had in another room of this hotel a few years ago wasn't present in this room.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. WiFi was free and worked OK.

The location of the hotel couldn't be better, on a small street walking by it, I couldn't believe that I was actually staying there. walking into the hotel its like going back in time to the 1920s, keys hanging on the wall and your room key handed to you by the concierge and then a porter helping to carry your bags to your room. we were on the third floor and there is no elevator but it really wasn't much of a bother to us at all. a few small complaints, I think they could invest in better blankets, and the water pressure was weak and took a long time to heat up, but for everything else I really can't complain. the Breakfast was out of this world, eggs made to order and a buffet with delicious sandwiches. it is an extremely touristy area but what can I say, I am that tourist that likes to buy cliche souvenirs and to be fair the entire city is completely touristy so you might as well stay close to all the best locations, Basillica san marco 4 minutes to the right and the Rialto bridge 3 minutes to the left. and all this for a very affordable price. I will absolutely be back there this I guarantee.

I am conflicted from my stay here but despite some of the shortcomings I think that I would stay here again because of the location and the staff that work here.

I regret booking a single room as the size of the bathroom was the smallest I think I have been in. I had to enter sideways as it was barely a few feet across.

As per other reviews the walls are thin and I heard the people walking around in the room above me which at one point did wake me up. Also the hotel was full with a group and so one morning I was unable to have a proper breakfast as the room was full and I had a tour booked. If I had not asked to take something down to the stool on the bar to eat I think I would have ended up with nothing, when I was able to be seated the food was good and varied.

The internet is sub standard. I was told it was because the hotel had thick walls by one of the staff but clearly not the case as you hear your fellow travellers in their rooms.

On the plus side it is an easy and quick walk to get to the Rialto or St Marks and is in the centre of things.

There is Air Conditioning but I had to ask at reception for it to be turned on.

The staff were all very engaging and very pleasant and helpful and I do feel the price charged for the location you are in outweigh some of the negatives. The hotel has character and some incredible art on the walls but if you want modern this definitely would not be for you.

I chose a queen room on the booking website and also sent an email to the property requesting a queen months in advance. I was put in a closet with a twin bed and a bathroom so small I had to sit at a 45 degree angle to use the toilet (I'm 5'4")! The room was up 5 steep flights of stairs with no lift. The blanket was circa 1960, the sheets were so old the had holes in them. I told them the room was unacceptable and was told the queen rooms were for people who'd paid more, even though a queen was offered at that price on the website that same day on the website for 20E less than I paid. (Michele) was rude and condescending I heard him offer two guests a 20 percent discount if they paid cash. When I asked for the discount, he lied and said he would never offer more than 5 percent. He also lied about having not received my previous requests a queen room. He would never have put a man in the closet he gave me.

If you like being treated like a 3rd class citizen by a sleazy little creep, by all means, stay here.

In spite of a very good location and super helpful staff, I cannot recommend this hotel. It has tiny rooms, minuscule showers, skimpy breakfast, and uneven floors that creak with every step, day and night. The bottom line is that I would recommend a friend not to stay here, and look for a more comfortable place nearby.

This is a lovely little hotel and is very centrally located, just a short walk from St Mark’s Square. I strongly recommend that you memorise the way back to the hotel from St Mark’s Square (from the archway next to a shop called Markus) - otherwise it is very easy to get extremely lost. Breakfast is included; the time and order need to be booked the day before. No lift (at least I don’t think so). Clean and comfortable. The front desk staff are very helpful. I would certainly stay here again.

This is a excellent value for money hotel in one of the best city locations.
Only 5 minutes walk to St Marks square and only 5 minutes walk to the Rialto Bridge.
All rooms are air condition and with on suite bathroom.
Continental Breakfast is included in the price.

We had a 2 days trip to Venice and it was amazing, like a miracle - no crowds, great weather, and nice hotel.
It's not large, have to climb on small stairs, but great location - quickly get to the Piazza San Marco and Rialto. Not rich, but good enough breakfast. The room was large enough. So good hotel for good price.

This is was the worse customer service I have received at a hotel. The manager at this hotel was incredibly rude, not believing any of the issues with the room (wrong room) and internet (no connection multiple days). Spend your money elsewhere! Not worth ruining your trip!

We had a wonderful time here. The location isn't far from the Rialto water bus, which worked well for us traveling by train. The view from the room was stunning. Staff were all so incredibly nice. We had a few problems, but everyone was always so courteous. The air has to be turned on by them as they flip a breaker and you don't get air unless it's properly warm. This is frustrating, but seems to be a European thing. We've seen this in many countries.
The breakfast was the best buffet we've had in Europe. So many tasty options and delicous coffee. When we had to leave early to catch our train, they even made us each a to go back of snacks. That little extra mile. The location is great. You're close to restaurants & markets. St Mark's Basilica, Doge Palace, & St Mark's Square are a quick walk from the hotel, which is nice.

Hello. How do I get from the train station to your hotel? How will I get from your hotel to the airport?
Answer from hyker1
Blue Ridge, Virginia125 contributions100 helpful votes
I'm afraid that we arrived via air, so we didn't use the train station. However, it will probably involved taking water transport to the general area of the hotel. Do your research of WHERE the hotel is ahead of time. Water buses are inexpensive and reliable, but won't get you as close to the hotel if you have a lot to carry. Water taxis get you fairly close (comparable to a city block away from it), but you'll still have to walk a short distance. Water taxis are more expensive, but I have no idea how much they are from the bus station. From Marco Polo airport the water taxi charged us 170 euros. VERY pricey! Just be informed, have a map with you, and once you are dropped off, stop inside a store or restaurant to ask for reliable directions to the hotel. It's really not hard to find.

Yes, have duvets. There are a few mosquitos so it's worth taking repellent and something to stop the itching if you do get bitten. Have a great trip!
