Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

If you’re looking for a nice hotel with a staff that will treat you with respect don’t come here! :) The staff here are all so pretentious, it’s mind boggling. They also collect your key every time you try and leave the hotel which means you’re at the mercy of hoping there is

Dear Mrs. Ella, Thank you for finding the time to share your comments. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience you have experienced. We have often been praised for the politeness of our staff. I am extremely sorry if you had the impression that our staff has been rude and uncooperative. I will personally make sure that this will never happen again. The reason why we ask to all our visitors to hand in their key to reception every time they leave the hotel is for security reasons. In case of emergency or fire we know who is in or out the hotel. I am extremely sorry you have misinterpreted this procedure as being at the “mercy of the front desk staff”. I would also like to inform you that in our hotel the form desk is opened 24h, therefore you don’t need to “hope” for the presence of somebody. Please note that we take great pride in offering the best service and attention to all our guests. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly to discuss this matter further, as our guest’s comments are extremely important for us. Yours sincerely, Margherita Pasotto HOTEL GIORGIONE – VENICE

Dear Mrs Catherine, Thank you for having preferred the Hotel Giorgione for your four nights stay in the magical Venice and thank you for your positive feedback which fills me with pride. I am very happy to read about your appreciation for my staff: customer care, professionality and constant dedication in order to give unforgettable experiences our daily efforts. I am also glad you have appreciated the room you have been assigned. Our mezzanine rooms are very much appreciated, since they maintain the typical Venetian structure and style. I’m pleased you have valued the area in which the hotel is located. The Cannaregio district is the oldest area of the city, very quiet and safe since it’s a residential area. I am glad you could easily reach all the main attractions just by walking a couple of minutes. Also the journey from and to the airport is not a great big deal, in fact is an opportunity for a fantastic ride through the Venetian lagoon. My staff and I look forward in welcoming you back in Venice and especially in our home. All our love from Venice, Yours sincerely, Margherita Pasotto HOTEL GIORGIONE – VENICE

Highly recommended. Beautiful hotel in good location. Really stylish and opulent. We stayed in a junior suite which had two levels and was very nice. There are restaurants and shops literally on the doorstep. Easy to walk to the Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge.

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for having taken the time to write this review. I am extremely sorry and personally sad that your experience at the Hotel Giorgione was not the best. My team’s attitude and kindness is usually one of the most appreciated aspects of the hotel – as written in many reviews – knowing that it was specifically the lack of warmth and gentleness that spoiled your stay, fills me with dejection. Even though I don’t precisely know in which way my staff made you fell not welcomed, please accept my sincere apologies. Regarding the consumption of street food in the hotel, in each room there are our written policies, which we also give to our guests during the check-in. I report exactly what is written: “Street food cannot be consumed in the Hotel, therefore introduction of food and drinks is not allowed.” Let me kindly inform you that this policy is applied in all 4 and 5 stars hotels in Europe. It is just a kind way to remind what well behaviour is and to avoid damages and stains in the rooms and common areas caused by non-appropriate food consumption. Our job is to give an outstanding service in order to ensure unforgettable stays. Our reception staff, by kindly asking you not go upstairs with your ice-cream, did their work. I thank them for having done correctly their job and for having protected the other guests who respect this style. It is also polite not to enter in stores with ice cream, soft drinks and various foods. I am sorry that you were disturbed by workmen fixing the street, but let me kindly explain that in Venice every noise is amplified by the absence of the continuous buzz of traffic of every city. I hope that you have understood my position as I understood yours and, more important, that you will save anyway a good memory of Venice. Yours sincerely, Margherita Pasotto HOTEL GIORGIONE – VENICE

The Vaporetto Water bus is the cheapest and there should be stops near where you're staying - the hotel should be able to advise. Because other people are likely to get on during the journey at other stops, you need to allow plenty of time. Good search Venice Vaporetto. Otherwise, you need to hire a water taxi which, although expensive, is a great way to finish your holiday! It's direct, and will meet you at the time you state. Again, your hotel should be able to arrange this. Hope this helps - enjoy yourself, Venice is fabulous!

Hi, it's not a jacuzzi but it is a small swimming pool. Sorry, I don't know if it's heated.

Hi, We was there in November, so it is not in use, which tells me they do not heat it, but i would agree with the reviewer above, it gets pretty hot in July, so perfect for cooling everyone down after or in the heat of the day xx

Hi What are the opening times for the pool?
It's a small pool like 4*3. One of the guests used it in the evening but not for swimming, more like a jacuzzi
