The Palace brings with it a prestigious past and a grandiloquent charm of which large traces still remain Built in the sixteenth century as a noble residence of the Coccina family, it first passed into the hands of the Foscarini and then the Giovanelli, hosting a series of eminent personalities: in the eighteenth century it was the residence of Marco Foscarini, future Doge of the Republic of Venice, of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in visit to the city with his father, and Frederick Christian IV, King of Denmark. The elegant architecture, rich in polychrome marble, and the sumptuous interiors of Palazzo Giovanelli, enriched with frescoes and decorations of the time, invite you to relive and savor the glories of Venetian history comforted by amenities of modernity. Inside the Palace, original ceilings with exposed beams, wall rosettes frescoed with mythological figures by Giovanni Battista Zelotti, stuccos are still appreciable and perfectly preserved in all their beauty and restored under

Detailed Reviews
Loved this intimate and romantic, historic hotel set right on the Grand Canal yet in one of the most authentic quarters of Venice, Santa Croce, where you can find the 'real' Venice, teeming with local bars, osterias and eateries. The staff were extremely obliging, the bedrooms very comfortable and quiet with highly efficient air conditioning. Tucked away it's a perfect oasis after a hectic day exploring Venice. We ate out at the Osteria Morcenigo on the hotel's recommendation, which we loved and was only a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel was a really easy walk to and from the railway station, alternatively you can take a water taxi from the hotel's own private jetty. Highly recommended!

I went on a trip with my daughter and we had the pleasure of staying two nights at the hotel. It starts with the check in, which was warm and welcoming. We were given a small tour and history of the floor we stayed on and then shown our room.
WOW - it was spacious, spotless and serene. We had a garden view room and it does not disappoint. The balcony was magical and the tranquil gardens were inviting.
The bathroom is huge and comes with Ferragamo toiletries, which smells heavenly and feel as luxurious as you expect. The bed is comfortable and big without feeling overwhelming.
The daily breakfast was wonderful. It is not buffet style, which I was happily surprised by. The dining room is not too big, so you would think it would feel crowded and be loud. It was neither.
The guest service - being recommended where to enjoy a great meal and then having them make a reservation for you - was appreciated and just that extra touch. I can’t wait to go back.

Anniversary in Venice..
Prior to arriving, I contacted the hotel directly, as I wanted to ensure our holiday started without a hitch, and I wanted to get to the hotel without any worries or delays, as this was a special occasion for us.
I managed to arrange (for an agreed price, providing my credit card details) for my wife and I to be met at the airport and taken directly to the waterfront by taxi, where a private water taxi was then waiting for us. This then whisked us away (at considerable speed) to the hotel. From the plane landing, going through airport, collecting our luggage…to stepping into the hotel, it took less than an hour & was well worth it.
When we originally booked our trip through TUI, we upgraded to a Grand Canal view, so when we were shown to our room (we had to go out and come back as we arrived a little early), TUI had unfortunately been quite remiss in not pointing out that actually what they meant was a side view from the room window of the Grand Canal. I was devastated, as it wasn’t at all what TUI had led us to believe. This wasn’t the hotel’s fault, and what they did next was amazing. As another holidaymaker was leaving the next morning, they agreed to move us to that room at the front corner. They gave us a complimentary cocktail drink and nibbles in the bar before we went out on our first night. The Front of House Manager (Giuliano Zanet), the barman, and all the staff are a genuine asset to the hotel.
Breakfast is a mixture of warm (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage & mushrooms), fruit juices, coffees, pastries/danish/croissants, cold meats, cheese & bread, toast & jams, muesli, fruit and even cake (tiramisu, coconut, banana & chocolate & coconut) all served by lovely, friendly staff.
Whilst we were out after our first night at the hotel, the staff had moved our belongings to the new room, and left us a bottle of Prosecco & 2 flutes, together with their well wishes for the rest of our stay.
[Got to apologise at this point, as we had a minor accident and one of the glasses smashed on the floor. After a quick call to reception, 2 ladies arrived to clear away the broken glass (thank you to them both).]
After that, our holiday went smoothly, the staff always helpful, attentive and forever smiling.
We had the best time in Venice, and hopefully we will be able to go back, and if we do, we’ll definitely stay at the Palazzo Giovanelli.
The hotel is situated directly on the Grand Canal, towards the northern end, right next to the San Stae water bus stop (#1 goes down (from left to right on the canal) to Rialto Bridge & San Marco; the Orange line Alilaguna goes to and from the airport). To get tickets for the water buses, either get them at the airport, or a short walk down to the Rialto Bridge stop.

We arrived very early and the hotel was actually able to check us im within 10 min or so. That was a very pleasant surprise, as we had an overnight flight and we were exhausted. Our room had the most comfortable bed and pillows I have ever slept on. The room had a nice set up, with a little hallway with the bathroom (a little on the small side but not too bad), where my husband could get ready in the early AM without waking me up. The staff was great, breakfast was great. We were able to walk to the train station. There is a ferry stop right outside the hotel. There wasn’t a clear hotel sign so it took us a few minutes to find it. However, if you take a private taxi, they will pull up to the dock of the hotel. Nice hotel, would definitely recommend.

Having had chauffeur to a private boat taxi organised via my husband and the hotel, at a cost, we arrived to a lovely warm welcome at our hotel where we’d stay for the next five days.
There was confusion with our room, but fortunately they moved us the next day to the room we’d expected. This wasn’t the hotels fault, but they were more than apologetic and a lovely bottle of iced champers was waiting for us on our return that evening, that was after complimentary cocktails and nibbles too!.
The hotel was in the perfect place for us, with just a few minutes walk to the hustle and bustle along the beautiful walkways and bridges.
Hotel had everything we needed, including robes, slippers, hair dryer, toiletries etc.
Breakfast was a choice of hot and cold served by some lovely friendly waiters. It was delish!
The guy on the bar was fabulous! Great sense of humour too 😂 He made us some 😋 cocktails and always warmed up some nibbles for us. (We didn’t ask, he wanted us to try them). We approved 😂
The boat bus to take you to all the places you want to see is about 100 yards from the hotel and very handy. It’s worth getting a ticket that lasts for a few days.
We really enjoyed ourselves here, we’d come to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and we’d definitely go back. It was a very friendly hotel, immaculate and with incredibly efficient staff. We got to do and see so much! We loved it!

The hotel and staff were amazing, the room was fantastic with a canal view. The breakfast was super all served to your table including eggs and bacon! Staff were so amazing so polite and helpful. The location could not have been any better. A two minute walk to the water bus and if hiring a private boat they moor just out side the hotel. Minutes walk to restaurants and a 15 minute walk to the Grand Canal. I am definitely coming back. Thank you to Francesco and all the staff.

Absolutely lovely hotel, great location and really friendly staff, we went for our 20th wedding anniversary and weren’t disappointed. Breakfast served to your table and you could ask for as much as you wanted and staff seemed disappointed with small appetites and wanted you to ask for more. Room was spotless and beds changed daily. I really can’t fault the place at all.

What a wonderful place to stay!! The staff, food and ambience was wonderful. I would highly recommend this location. It’s far enough away from the crowds, but close enough to everything. If you have a chance to stay there, you’ll certainly enjoy the atmosphere and everything that goes with it. The staff is so very professional from the front desk, servers to the room staff!! I would give it more than five stars if I could.

I can now answer my own question 😉 they do have hairdryers.
I do not know if a water taxi can be arranged by the hotel. However the Alilaguna public boat can bring you to the Vaperetto stop 100 yards from the hotel. There is one small bridge over a side canal to negotiate. The hotel staff are very helpful and do have staff to help you to your room with luggage. Possibly they would come out and help with the bridge?
The advice above is spot on. Follow signs to the Water Taxi, buy a ticket and take it to your nearest stop. If you want to arrive in style, you can take a private water taxi right to the Hotel doc. It's crazy expensive but you'll feel like Sophia Loren arriving at the Venice Film Festival.
We took a water taxi from the train station direct to the hotel dock. It's crazy expensive, but life is short and you will never forget it.
