The Villa Serbelloni is a really elegant and magical place. It's like stepping back into a sophisticated world from the turn of last century where waiters and barmen wear white dinner jackets, a pianist serenades your evening cocktails in a grand ballroom and the staff all go out of the way to be good humoured and chat to you. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for staff that clearly love the place with some telling us they had worked there for decades. We had a very peaceful and romantic stay for our honeymoon.
The rooms were gorgeous with beautiful linen, and the breakfasts on the terrace were a high point for us to watch the morning unfurl over the water and mountains in the distance.
We visited the competition around the lake for lunches and dinners, and for us the Serbelloni won as we loved all the antiques and sculpted ceilings, and the feel that we had moved into an old palace for a week. Its right on the lake so there is no noise from a road, you can jump in directly from the steps and then get lost in the gardens. We would love to return and were extremely charmed by the experience.

At check in, there was a little hassle. We arrived an hour after check in time, but the room was not yet ready. We had to be kept busy somehow. The room itself was not large but one could expect that for taking one of the cheapest rooms (still at euro 600 per night). We did not book a lake view room, however, we had a breathtaking view from the room, looking at the gardens and the lake. When you book the lake view rooms, you might be located above the entrance where all cars arrive. So we were very pleased with the room given to us! The room itself is beautifully decorated and clean. Great shower! Good bed, and a desk looking out of the the window with the stunning view over the lake and the mountains far away. The pool was great, situated in front of the hotel on the lake, separated by a small beach. Dinner in the Italian restaurant was amazing and the waiter really contributed to the entire experience. Everything was perfect. Valet parking every time you arrive or leave. Breakfast was served in a giant baroque hall with chandeliers and giant mirrors. It was unforgettable. Prices are really high, but worth the location and the experience of staying in, what I think must be, the best hotel on the Como Lake. I can highly recommend it!!!!

Honestly, there are no words to describe this resort. It's strongly recommended to anyone who wants to feel the old school glamour. The villa is located in the heart of Bellagio. Whoever goes there, will definitely stay stunned with the elegant decoration! We had booked the Classic Room with lake view but surprise, they upgraded us with the Deluxe Room with lake view!! Waking up there, with the lake sight was a blessing. They welcomed us with a bottle of sparkling wine, strawberries and the Italian Easter delicacy: Colomba. Due to the Bellagio Spring package we had reserved we were also offered tickets for Melzi gardens! The room was quite big and the bed and pillows were totally comfortable. Not to mention the sheets made with 100% pure Italian linen. The renovated marble bathroom was capacious, containing shower and bathtub and the room amenities were plentiful, including bath salts to enjoy your bath. All the staff was extra polite and hospitable. The styling to all the common areas and the rooms was so classy and the period furniture which are used are piece of art. I can't even describe the breakfast room. .You get the feeling that you dine as royal. You will be enchanted with the detail at the ceilings and walls' painting. The breakfast buffet was very satisfying including on the one hand many fresh Italian cheeses to die for, salmon etc. , and on the other, english breakfast options like hashbrown, bacon ,eggs..The indoor pool was big enough and the temperature was perfect. Unfortunataly, we didn't find time to swim at the outside pool besides the lake. We also, wandered at the villa's gardens and it was so relaxing. Last but not the least, clearly I can't skip the staggering pianist performance at the lobby. Great selection of songs. Once again you will feel like you live in another era. Of course they let us leave our luggage after the check-out as long as we wanted. No wonders why it was N°1 Resort in Italy for Travel+Leisure World's Best at 2019. Congratulations to all the team! Can't wait for our next visit!

You book a table for 3 people for lunch and pay 200 euros to get poor service. While reserving our table, we have asked if we could use the pool and they responded "yes of course" (knowing that we did NOT have a room). After our lunch, we went towards the pool and beach and were told that we needed to pay 100euros per person to use the pool and beach. OUTRAGEOUS! The hotel is empty and only 4 bedrooms were booked at this time of the year when there should be more customers.
This hotel does not deserve its 5 stars and thus we strongly recommend to choose another one.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us. Naturally, I am thoroughly disappointed to learn that your experience did not live up to your expectations. Your review is highly valued and we welcome constructive feedback from all our guests in order to ensure we deliver the highest standard of service possible. Every guest that is not resident in our Hotel as to pay an entrance of 100 Euro per person to access our pools, it does not matter how many guest are at the beach area at that particular time. Due to the Covid-19 situtation we want to respect the social distancing as good as possible, the safety ouf our clients is our most important aspect, that is why we have limited access to our beach area wich the priorarity is of course towards our in house guests. If someone of our staff has told you that you could use the pool for free that is wrong and i do apologize for that. Please be aware that i will definitely speak with our Restaurant Manager regarding this matter. I sincerely hope to have the chance to restore your faith in our hotel and have you as our guest again in the near future. Your sincerely Jan Bucher

The building is very impressive and the setting is amazing and ideal for the town of Bellagio. The staff are very well presented and very friendly, helpful and professional. Our overall stay was very enjoyable but there are a few points that let it down.
1) the gym only opens at 10am so anyone wanting to exercise before breakfast will be disappointed. The gym does provide a good variety of equipment and towels.
2) the bedroom we stayed in on 3rd floor was small and not what I would expect from a 5 star hotel if this grandeur. The bathroom was great and looked liked it had been recently renovated. However the shower did not have a consistent temp setting and ran hot and Luke warm as well as the water pressure. The beds were hard and the pillows again not to the quality one would expect in a hotel of this standard. The sound proofing of the room was shocking and we were woken several times by guest next door talking and open and closing the wardrobe doors, also when people where walking past the front door it was very easy to hear their conversations and closing of the doors.
3) laundry, I needed some shirts ironed at short notice and requested an ironing board, was informed that they do not provide these items as they are concerned about damage to the furniture, not sure what damage they would expect and ironing board to do, so they pressed for me for a standard laundry fee. Not sure why I should get charged on account of them not providing what is normally a basic item.
4) the breakfast was in an amazing room and what was available was good quality and selection, however if you want eggs other than scrambled then you will have pay extra, this also includes pancakes. We recently stayed in another Italian 5 star hotel and this was all included.
The restaurant in the hotel was amazing with wry professional staff and very high quality food, worth the cost.
All in the all the hotel is a great place to stay however feel for me they need to revisit the rooms we stayed in and the added extra costs which we would expect to be in the high price tag, seems they are banking on their location too much.

Dear Cliff859, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni. It was a pleasure to read your kind words of appreciation regarding the location, staff, and the hotel itself We appreciated your feedback and please be assured that we will certainly look into incorporating your suggestions in enhancing our guests' experience. I would like to clarify some of your points: - The gym opens every day from 08:00 am until 09:00 pm I am sorry that you had this wrong information. I will check internally. - At breakfast, we do have several egg dishes complimentary at our warm buffet stations which include (Scrambled, poached eggs, soft-boiled eggs, sausage, bacon, and many other warm dishes) - Regarding the iron in the room we are a 19th Century Villa, and we previously had some accident, so we decided to prohibit the use of irons in the room. - The room in which you stayed is located in the oldest part of the hotel, there is a project to renovate this couple of rooms in the next few years. Once again thank you for your kind words and constructive feedback. My team and I look forward to welcoming you back to the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni on many future occasions. The only thing this property has going for it is it’s location and one lovely Italian gentleman Roberto at the concierge desk. Upon arrival a $3333,38 charge was placed on my credit card. The amount was arbitrary; my friend’s charge was less. Explanation was not given. Room which were over a $1,000.00 a night were uncomfortable and smelled of mold and mildew. Dreadful accommodation.
Request ( which was stated in brochure ) for early departure breakfast was a handoff from a surly man at front desk to restaurant and back again.
Stay in TREMEZZO. Better yet stay in the south of Italy where you will be most welcomed.

I'm a few weeks late on this, but just had to review the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni since it was such an incredible experience.

Any of the rare bad reviews that say it is dated are missing the entire point of staying at a hotel like this. It oozes old school sophistication and and top of the line service in every regard. The staff was incredible and would say hello & ask us how we're doing, addressing us by our names, every time we walked by the Concierge desk. They set up reservation, car services, helped with ferry service schedules, etc.... all with a smile.

The hotel itself is just gorgeous, and I can't imagine a better view anywhere. We are pool people, so having the pool directly on the lake was amazing, since you could take a dip in either that you prefer. The attendants at the pool remembered the bottle of wine we liked every day, and were ready for whatever we needed. We had requested a lake view room with balcony, and were lucky enough to make that happen. I can't even describe how perfect it was with two separate double doors that walked out to a balcony. One night we slept with the doors open just to hear the waves of the lake.

The location is perfect since you are not in the middle of Bellagio, but it's directly outside the driveway to easily walk everywhere, and the ferry is a 4 minute walk away.

Also, we originally had wanted to stay at Hotel Tremezzo but didn't want to spend the money. We did lunch there which was amazing, but came away very happy we stayed at Serbelloni instead since there is a road between the Hotel Tremezzo building and pool which is not preferable.

This was one of the most relaxing, enjoyable vacations that we have had. Lake Como is gorgeous in general, but the hotel made it that much better.

This is the only hotel I would stay in while visiting Bellagio. The location is the best and the views are gorgeous. It was so convenient to the ferries also. They have a small beach with chaise lounges as well as a beautiful pool that overlooks the lake. We really enjoyed sitting on their large terrace having an aperitif with views of the lake. They also serve lunch out there. We had a lakeview room with 2 sets of french doors that opened to a balcony and I am so glad we upgraded to that. It had beautiful views of the lake and the gardens. I enjoyed room service for breakfast out there every morning. The bedroom and bathroom had everything I needed, including a large tub in addition to a separate shower and an enclosed toilet area. It was very updated. The rest of the hotel is very old and European, the way you think of Villas back then. Everything was immaculate though. I would definitely stay here again. I think it is the only 5 star hotel in Bellagio, and we loved that town!!

This is a lovely hotel. It looks like it’s been there for 150 years but it’s somewhat dowdy appearance does not take away from the experience at all. In fact, I thought it kind of enhanced it.

This hotel could not have a better location, almost at the point of the Bellagio peninsula and at the top of the town and it’s beautiful lakeside promenade.

The public areas, such as the lobby, bar and pool are decidedly old school, but are impeccably maintained and are staffed by an army of uniformed employees. Service is also more formal than most, but you won’t wait long to have your order in hand— and recorded on a paper chit left at your cocktail table.

The food was very good. Mistral is an experience not to be missed and is well deserving of its Michelin star. It is a beautiful space overlooking the lake. Pictures really do not do it or it’s food justice.

The rooms are, kind of like the rest of the hotel, a mix of old and new. The bathrooms are blissfully modern and the beds are very comfortable, while the rest of the furniture is antique. Be warned that there is no iron or steamer in the rooms. You must use the hotel’s laundry service which ends at 7 pm. This was an unexpected, unpleasant surprise. While I realize this seasonal hotel needs to maximize revenue, I personally wish they would simply raise the rates and give customers the ability to handle their own clothing on their own schedule.

I suppose the bottom line is that the Villa Serbelloni delivers on its promises. You get an old-school lake experience in an old-school location. I would recommend it to friends and family and one day hope to return.

We last stayed at this hotel in 1992, and it’s only become more impressive. Quite often, old, established hotels look, well, threadbare on the inside… and smell musty. The Villa Serbelloni is not one of those hotels. It is a grand venue – high ceilings, wide hallways, grand stairways, and it is well-maintained. Other intrinsic elements of a grand hotel were also there. For example, the staff could not have been friendlier. We arrived rather late, and the lower dining room prepared a special order for us. Greatly appreciated. I had a personal electrical-plug adapter short out, and was asked several times if I wanted one from the hotel.
The room was clean and large, the hotel views were drop dead gorgeous. The beautiful room for breakfast was previously the old dining room. The opulent room has been extremely well-maintained and the large assortment of food selections must be seen to be believed. The breakfast itself was very good, and is not the typical European breakfast but what a North American expects.
The front desk was kind enough to call Milan and verify our reservations to see The Last Supper.
As a final note, when one of the staff in the Cashiering office found out we had stayed there in 1992, he found a picture of the then Grand Hotel Bellagio and gave it to us!
We would definitely stay here again. I just hope it’s sooner than before… a lot sooner.
