Detailed Reviews
Stayed as part of a Riveira tour of Tuscany. Enjoyable stay in this Art Nouveau hotel, beautifully restored and with a quaint lift, dating back many, many, years!! You can spend time in the sister hotel next door, The Savoia, which again has great areas to sit and enjoy the fantastic architecture, decor and furniture. We were on the 5th (highest) floor which was quiet as we requested although not a great view due to being in a central location, near the train station. Room was large, clean and comfortable, and interestingly decorated, with all the usual amenities. A daily bottle of water and a packet of crisps was a nice touch. Breakfast was excellent - buffet style with a full range of hot/cold options, and everything was of a high quality. The restaurant was open for dinner in the evening but needed to be booked to be safe. Service was excellent throughout. Only issues for us were the hot water was not ‘very hot’ and the air conditioning was not yet available, so the room was a little stuffy at night (too much light/noise if shutters were left open).

This hotel was the perfect location for us - super close (within 2 mins walk) of the train station which was fab as we used Genoa as a base to explore the coastal region. Hotel room was really lovely and clean. We had a large balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. Naturally being central to a city it is noiser with the road outside but we found the shutters very useful to cancel a lot of this out. Breakfast was fine and the 2 restaurants available as part of the hotel (or Savoia next door) were so handy. With the main Savoia restaurant on floor 7 brilliant - incredible food & a far reaching view. I'd highly recommend for a stay if you're in Genoa.

We stayed in this excellent comfortable hotel for 3 nights. It is located in a nice quiet safe area, being about a five minute walk from both the seafront and main attractions. There are some high quality cafes and restaurants nearby. The city centre is an easy 15 to 20 minute walk from here.
It was such fun travelling up and down on the quaint lift. There is such a nice atmosphere in reception, where refreshing jugs of water with lemon and orange slices are provided for guests .
The air conditioned rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and excellent showers. We really liked the breakfasts, a good selection of hot and cold foods and an impressive array of fruits. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended.

We booked this hotel as we were travelling by train and it is a few minutes from the station (don’t worry, you can’t hear the trains) With hindsight, the next station along seems to be in a better neighbourhood. The walk from this hotel to the main attractions takes you through some seedy and unglamorous areas.
We liked the quirky feel to the hotel and the staff both at reception and the restaurant were all great and friendly. The breakfast was a bit limited and the rooms a bit smaller than a normal 4 star hotel.
Central to the hotel is the lift and stairs which makes most rooms within earshot of people coming and going.

Dear Tony, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the walk to the center, it is an enjoyable walk along via Balbi and then to via Garibaldi, which is one of the most elegant street with beatiful architecture, maybe you have taken another street which probably goes in the narrow street. About the breakast we are starting now to change it, with a different display and introducing different products. We hope we can welcome you back in Genova and our hotel. with my best regards

I spent six nights at this hotel. The exterior doesn’t any clue of the interior. It’s basically a very good 1920s era hotel that has been carefully modernised. It’s full of nooks and crannies. The bedroom was spacious and the en suite bathroom was clean and fully functional. The shower compartment was possibly a little small. Clean fluffy towels and a very comfortable bed. The location of my room on the first floor was very quiet. Very pleasant staff.
I can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Our stay was exactly what we needed. We arrived at Hotel Continental Genoa after our long flight from the states, looking for a clean, comfortable, quiet place to stay for the night prior to starting our Italy vacation. The hotel checked all the boxes! Additionally we were welcomed warmly at check-in and had all our questions answered. We selected this location because of it’s proximity to the train station (across the street), and we are so glad we did! If we have the opportunity to return to Genoa, we will look to stay here again!

We stayed in this hotel as part of a tour. It was very comfortable and I loved our quirky room. It had fish wallpaper, an orange Smeg fridge and a beautiful blue seat. We were on the first floor overlooking the beautiful station. The road outside was busy but the windows shut out this noise completely. We ate at restaurant most evenings. We loved the menu. The prices seemed quite high but the portions were large, so we shared dishes.

This hotel was wonderful. Its location is perfect, right across the street from the train station. My train arrived before check in and I went to the hotel with just the intention of dropping off luggage, but they were so kind and allowed me to my room right away, which they upgraded to a larger suite. The staff were all very kind and professional. The room was grand, luxurious, and the hotel has a beautiful historical appearance. Bathroom was large with a delightful shower. It was such a nice experience. I will stay here again when I hopefully return to Genova in the future.

The hotel is very close to the main train station and also a short walk to the city center, so the location is great. The building itself is attractive and full of personality, and the AC works very well. When we got into our room, we were disappointed to see extensive water damage (see picture) and mildew on the wall. The refrigerator didn't work, and we spent an hour working with hotel staff to get a new one installed, and to help install it. I thought they would maybe give us free breakfast or something to acknowledge the inconvenience, but they didn't. Cleaning up the mess left behind by the refrigerator replacement made me realize that the floor was not clean; it clearly hadn't been mopped before we arrived. Finally, the room has a strong sewer smell. When we stopped up the sink and tub and put down the toilet seat, the smell was less strong, but it was still very noticeable. We wouldn't stay here again.

What a delightful hotel! The staff is warm and welcoming. There is an antique elevator that is really cool. It is fairly large, but has two doors and is fairly open so you can see going up. The rooms are charming. I love the wallpaper and decoration. It is all an aquatic theme. The only reason I did not give it a 5 was that my room had a slight odor, and I could not get the room cool enough. There is another hotel connected to this one owned by the same company. I would definitely stay here again. The location is excellent. Just a 10 minute walk down to the Old Port.

I was a visitor to this hotel, I was told check in was from 2.00pm but we arrived at 12.30 and as the rooms were ready they let us check in.
They seem to be very helpful.
Hi it's extra. It's really close to train station and we found we did not need a car.
