Good hotel without being exceptional. The rooms, in particular the bathrooms need some remodulation – shower plastic curtains is something quite disagreeable, mainly if they glue to your body… The staff is experienced, and the breakfast is good. Also, the walking distance to the center is acceptable – about 10/15 minutes.
Stayed for one night ( thankfully no more). It was Sunday. Seems only 1 person works at the Hotel on Sundays. Seems the whole town is dead on a Sunday. It was deserted. Hotel Bar and restaurant closed all day and night. We’d travelled 8 hrs to get here. It’s 38c and we’re thirsty. Receptionist directs me to a Petrol ( Gas) station for a drink. Room was basic. Thin, bouncy mattress and no safe. Breakfast.......... well. No eggs, no fruit. Cheap, bland juices but the coffee was very nice. Not for me!
Our stay at Hotel Friuli was fine. Reception staff were pleasant and we had a room facing the back on the 5th floor, which had a lovely view. The hotel and rooms seem old and dated and there is a slightly stale smell (maybe because at some point in its history it was smoking was allowed in the rooms). Breakfast was fine, good offerings by Italian standards. It seems the hotel is used by tour groups so the breakfast room was very busy when we went (8am). Location wise it is technically close to the lovely old part of town, however there is a canal which means it is not as close to walk as it might seem on a map.
I stayed at the Friuli last year and again this year. This year was better. Why? Because I knew to ask for a room facing the back, away from all the noise out front. It made a world of difference. And the internet was working better this time. The rooms are fine, the staff are friendly. There's a mini-bar, but no room safe, and the TV channels are very limited. The location works for the coach tours that use the place, but is on the wrong side of town and far from the rail station. Maybe that helps to keep the price under control. It's not a deluxe hotel, but an option to consider if you are on a budget -- and if you can get a room facing away from the street.
Except for the reception staff being a little abrupt which is not surprising, given that this is Italy, the hotel ticks all the boxes. Location, cleanliness, big room, good Italian breakfast, safe, off-street parking. Easy walk to the beautiful old town. A little old from the outside but don’t judge this book by it’s cover. Don’t rely on the WiFi. My husband tried the restaurant and was also pleasantly surprised. Great scallopini.
