Three nights in an old monastery - a very climatic place. I will not rate it as a normal three-star hotel, because it is an old monastery transformed into a hotel. We planned to stay there only one night, as we arrived very late we could not find any other place to stay, but finally we stayed at 3 nights The whole place is quite big, in the middle of nowhere ( many fields around so probably during April there will be a specific smell of fertilizer). there is a big parking, few buildings (reception and restaurant are in one place, rooms are in the main building, so keep in mind that you need to walk a little. The rooms are very climatic with old stone walls, so you feel like in a medieval castle or old dormitory. My room was on the top floor with a nice view onto the courtyard (which was lit up nicely during the night). Of course, the standard of the hotel is lower than in normal *** hotels, but it is clean, you have a fridge, TV, desk, pretty good speed wifi, big old wooden wardrobe. The bed was pretty comfy. The bathroom had its best times behind it, but it was clean, some black spots in the corners of the shower. One hanger was almost ripped off and was not repaired but it is Italy, sometimes they do not care. So basically it is an average three-star hotel, but I am giving +1 rate, as it was a quite nice experience to live in such a place, very quiet, good to calm down a little and have time to think to reset. Also, a good place to travel around Parma region, close to Highway. Breakfast - It was decent, not much diverse, but if you like "sweet breakfast - coffee and croissant with jam" you get delicious espresso or cappuccino, fresh cornetto, two types of jam, honey, Nutella. Ham, cheese, cottage cheese, two-three types of bread, fresh fruits, two types of crostata (kind of tart with jam, but I did not like it, I assume it was bought as ready to eat) PS Nice posters on the walls - in rooms and corridors.

My husband and I loved staying in this renovated monastery. It was classy, interesting and very comfortable. The staff were very professional and friendly. Our room had a living space and also a separate room with a large, comfortable bed. The absence of a tv caused us to venture out for a very enjoyable walk and I was delighted there was no tv!!The breakfast was good- coffee excellent and I even had my Irish tea! Good range of food. However, the bread was quite stale and I’d recommend management addressing that issue. Overall, a well run lovely place to stay very close to Parma in beautiful, rustic surroundings.

After booking online, I and my wife arrived today at 13.00. Welcoming very basic in a shabby environment. We were sent with 4 suitcases (some help was available) up to a long staircase where we found a basic sofa instead of a regular double bed plus two single beds. We were disappointed but we did not complain as it was for a night only. After few minutes we were told the room was not the right one. Our was on the other building a couple of hundred metres away. We took all the luggage and went to the new room number 5 but it had not been serviced. Embarrassment was evident therefore we went to Parma for lunch which was very good. After two hours we went back to the abbey and we were given the keys of room 6. We thought they have changed the room but the keys did not work. We look also for room 9 but it was not there. We also tried unsuccessfully the key on number 5. We then went back to the bar-reception and somebody was sent back with us to try the key. They probably thought we were not capable to operate the door. After that, after waiting 20 minutes for them to find the right key, we managed to recover our luggage and we decided to leave the place. The kept 30% of the fee (absurd) but we did not care. WE JUST LEFT!!!

We stayed here for three nights which was two nights too long. The Abbey is quite beautiful on the outside, set in the fields outside of Parma. The accommodation is adequate and that's about it. We are seasoned travelers and look for odd or boutique accommodation while abroad. On arrival, no one seemed to want to know us, assist us in checking in and if it wasn't for the bar waitress, we would have been sleeping in the paddock. WiFi is only available in some rooms and the bathroom facilities are not great. The food in the restaurant is good and the bar staff are excellent. Apart from our room, we weren't able to see anything else inside the Abbey, which was a real shame. We weren't even allowed into the church/chapel. Worth staying one night.

Great place to bed down while touring some of the best food in Italia. Very clean room. Three queen sized beds and a separate room with a crib in it. You’re staying in a monastery, so it’s pretty rustic. We were there for 12 hours to eat dinner, sleep, and have breakfast before spring boarding to a parmigiana Reggio production facility and a Parma prosciutto production facility. Beautiful place, fine modern art and prompt service. Couple notes: -other reviewers noted a limited menu. This is not America or Rome. They make 3-4 dishes a night which is not uncommon in Italy. Appreciate what you’re getting is made with the fresh ingredients they have and go with it. You’re in Parma. Get the crudo di Parma. -WiFi was complicated and we didn’t end up using it because we couldn’t get the password correct. (-1 star) -credit card machine was down when we went to pay so we had to use cash. Unfortunate, but affects the rating. (-1 star). -breakfast had a full service cafe, cornettos, fantastic pastries, ham, cheese and some wonderful orange juice. (+1 star) Overall, if you’re looking to stay at a historic place that is situated at the heart of some of the best Italy has to offer, this is a solid choice!

If you’ve ever dreamed of staying in a 12th century renovated Abbey in Italy, here is your chance. It was fun and interesting with an amazing vibe! The renovation is nicely done but the beds and towels and such are a typical Italian standard (otherwise I would have given it a 5 star). For a night while driving from the Lake Como region back to Tuscany, it was a great stop. We really enjoyed the city of Parma and it’s shops and restaurants which is a HIGHLY UNDERRATED place!!!! Go and stay there and discover it. You will be surprised at what a great place it is. I’m going back during my next visit to Tuscany. This Abbey is outside of the city but it’s really only a short ride to the city and was a great choice for a unique experience. Just look at my pics! The moonlight over the abbey was priceless! I wish I could post my video, because I filmed a view of the whole abbey at night with the moon lighting it up and I played monk music in the background.

Unfortunately this was the last evening of our trip to Italy - and unfortunately we were trusting the good reviews here. Please don't repeat our mistake! The prices on the bill were not equal to those on menu - and an average priced wine was sold with at a high class wine price?! For around 5 times the price?! Food was average. We actually had eaten in very good Italian restaurants throughout Emilia Romagna before, but much cheaper. We think they charge tourist prices. Really ridiculous. Would never go there again - it spoiled our last day in Italy. Thank you!

90€ Euro for a nicely situated but very basic room is one thing, but 45€ for a very average 9€ bottle of wine in the restaurant is a total rip-off. Please look somewhere else if you plan to stay and especially eat near Parma.

This beautiful Abbey turned hotel and cultural centre is a great way to taste a different kind of hotel than your traditional one. The service is great because it fully customised and the rooms still have the feeling of the very ascetic and simple design from the fellow monks, but of course modernised with some nice touches. Rooms are of good size but bathrooms are a bit basic. The Abbey has a very nice restaurant and bar with very good wines from the region and they serve breakfast there as well. A bit basic but great experience. Only one word of warning. The Abbey is away from the city centre with very bad communication. If you do not have a car be ready to spend money in taxis

I have mixed thoughts about rating this hotel. Some good items. First it is very unique and located outside the city of Parma. But easy access to many areas. The staff worked very hard to serve and make us welcome. Service was friendly and efficient. However the staff was over worked they need more staff. Room was clean but very basic, shower small, air conditioning did not cool room. Breakfast and dinner menus very limited.
