Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only
way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The
Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas
in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s
famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to
its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub,
Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot

Just returned from a 5 night stay.
Staff are very pleasant and welcoming. Continental breakfast was included in the price but only ate for the first 2 mornings as ham, cheese, breads etc isn't for us, but that's a personal choice.

Stayed overnight because I arrived in Rome late afternoon, and was going to continue by train the next day. The location is excellent, just a few minutes walk from Roma Termini.
The street, the area looked a bit shabby, but I was pleasantly surprised of the hotel.

Greetings! So glad to have read your review - somebody seasoned - not college kids on their first international. Had to laugh at one of the reviews complaining about no shower curtain and TWO toilets in a small bathroom!!!! Now how can you take someones' opinion seriously when they can't tell a bidet from a toilet. My question is - we've stayed at this hotel in 1986. The world was very different then. The market stalls were there at that time and we were young - yes, we could have used more sleep but it was a charming look into the lives of Italians. C'mon - you are on vacation :) So that is not an issue. The last time I was in Rome was 2009 and the street was very run down, felt unsafe during the day, the restaurant on the next block was gone but the bread store was still there. I guess I want to revisit my past and that is always impossible - but tell me how is the safety as I too am traveling alone at 66. Roma ti amo!
We never felt in any danger but I was there with a group of teenagers! Hotel itself is good value for money and staff are lovely but I think if I was going back to Rome on my own I might choose somewhere a bit more upmarket! On the other hand you do get a great feel of how ordinary Romans live, drink and eat.

Buenas!
"Ask for a large room, as they vary a lot in size."
"on the street is market every morning, so if You want to sleep longer, take a room from the back side."
"We was on 4th Floor, it was quiet and we both slept well."
"If you want breakfast, negotiate it into your price- also book through Trivago."
"Ground floor, WiFi only in the lobby so that you have it in the room if you are on the ground floor"
