Young and well-to-do families are the street flavour of Parioli. A new kind of Rome, this area is centuries away from the Renaissance with its pockets of 1930s palaces, tony boutiques, open-air markets and plenty of coffee shops. Parioli was built as an enclave for last century’s haute bourgeois and still represents as such in 21st century Rome. Need a break? The area has several great sporting clubs known for tennis and riding, a wonderful modern art museum, easy access to the zoo (Europe’s oldest), and is nestled around Rome’s very best parks including Villa Borghese, Villa Ada and Villa Glori.

We had done quite a bit of hotel research before our trip but were very pleasantly surprised. Tips - 1. The rooms are smallish, upgrade to a larger one if possible. We had booked a normal room which was lovely but they offered us a bigger room at a substantial discount when

The hotel is right in the center of all the tourist activities. We were about a 5-minute walk from the Spanish steps. Everything was either in walking distance or we could hop on the metro just a couple of feet from the hotel. The rooms were small to an American, but don't let

What is the easiest way to transfer from airport, taxi or metro...
If you’re leaving from Ciampino you can buy €1.50 bus tickets from the airport reception machines, catch the 520 bus outside to Cinecitta Metro stop where you can buy another €1.50 ticket that will put you on the mainline tube to Flaminio - this is 18 stops away, takes about half an hour and will place you two minutes away from the hotel once you’ve exited the Metro. I used this both ways and it only cost me €6 in total.
