The NH Roma Villa Carpegna, conveniently located for accessing city attractions, has been well-received for its clean and comfortable rooms, although the decor is notably dated. Guests praise the friendly service, but some have noted slow bar service and staff responsiveness. Cleanliness is a consistently highlighted strength. However, the hotel's value is questioned due to extra charges for amenities and an overpriced dining experience. The modern lobby contrasts with the rooms' 80's style, and additional fees for pool towels and breakfast have been a point of contention for many travelers.

We stayed in NH Villa Carpegna in February and we really enjoyed it a lot. The hotel is in a very green area, near Villa Doria Pamphili public park with beautiful villas. Also, the hotel is well connected with public transportation and it is 25-min walking distance from fascinating Vatican. The staff is very friendly and I would like to compliment Costantino, Valentina and Giuseppe from the reception and Francesco from the restaurant. The breakfast was very good and according to the NH standards, with many fruit juices and fresh fruits. Cold cuts and scrambled eggs were also available, but guest could request ones according to their taste. The staff beautifully decorated the breakfast for the Valentine's day with many heart-shaped sandwiches, pastries and cakes. This is very important for guests that are looking for salty breakfast, since Italy is famous for sweet ones. Three of us stayed in a superior double room with extra bed as we reserved, even though I expected that according to the Platinum status we would be upgraded to the bigger Family room. However, the room was spacious enough and the wifi was working perfectly. The big TV with many European channels is available as well as the working desk. The room is very nicely designed and new. The electric kettle with coffee and tea was provided. The bathroom is warmly colored and designed, with standard NH amenities, slippers, bathrobes and fluffy towels. The bathroom had a shower, but not the standard Hansgrohe NH shower. The cleanliness was perfect! For the Valentine's, we got the pastries waiting for us in the room when we returned to the room after a long day. The hotel is totally recommended to everyone who wants comfortable and relaxed time in Rome, with good price and great breakfast, and be relatively close to the center, but in a quiet residential area.

We had a really nice stay at the NH Roma Villa Carpegna in June 2022. The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly as well as english speaking which you won't finde in all places in Rome. The housekeeping crew kept our room fresh and clean everyday while we went out to breakfast. The room itself is quite, spaceous and modern, has TV, a fridge and wooden floor which we prefer over gross carpet floors in most hotels. The breakfast buffet is average and includes coffee and other beverages. The pool is such a nice thing to have during hot Italian summer days when you really cannot do much other things since it's simply too hot. The pool area is super nice and neat. There is a lifeguard handing out towels, you can get drinks/ food from the bar and enjoy it by the pool. Luckily it was never crowded there and always quite and realxing. We highly appreciated that the hotel allowed us to stow our luggage and use to pool/ gym/ shower/ changing rooms after check out, so we could enjoy our last day before heading to the airport in the evening. The hotel staff even offered us to book a transport service to the airport which arrived super punctual. The only thing that we can propose to improve is maybe offering a shuttel to/from vatican/ the city once an hour or so, since the hotel isn't really walking distance to downtown. We had difficulties figuring out the public transport around town and ended up taking taxis from/to the hotel instead. Other than that everything was just faboulus and we recommed staying at the NH Roma Villa Carpegna.

I’ve stayed at many NH hotels in the past and unfortunately Villa Carpegna is far below NH’s normal standards.

We booked this hotel as we wanted an outdoor swimming pool and it’s location (we could get easy access to the city) and it fulfilled our needs. We walked to most places and saw more of this incredible city than we had ever expected.

But the rooms were small (and we had 3 superior rooms!), there were none of the normal extras (robes, slippers, toiletries) and breakfast was inconsistent (some days the eggs were good, some days not and the same for the bacon, sausages, choices of pastries, yoghurt etc).

The staff were polite and always helpful. A few more than others.

Overall having spent 12 nights in Villa Carpegna I would simply say, an average hotel! If you want proximity and a pool, stay here, if those aren’t your criteria, find another hotel.

Dear G0NOmandym, thanks for sharing your opinion about your last stay in our hotel NH Villa Carpegna. I read your comment and I'm very sorry to know that you left our hotel not totally happy. Regarding your reservation I want to inform you that the amenities mentioned are provided in our Junior Suite but on the guest's request we always deliver them to the room. I'm really sorry even for the breakfast. We are trying to implement the best way to avoid inconvenience for all our guests so they can enjoy it. These are all small challenges that we accept to make this particular period just a parenthesis. I hope that for your next stay in Rome we will be always your choise and we will do our best to make wonderful your stay! Best Regards Moustafa Awad General Manager

The hotel is situated a short bus/taxi ride from the centre. A great hotel with a lovely pool. The room was sparsely furnished and minimalist and not really overlooking the garden as described. More a car park and main road. A chest of drawers would of been a bonus as well as a kettle :-) but saying that we just ended up keeping smalls and tops etc in case, hanging larger garments up. Saying that the cost of a coffee in the hotel was €2 so is not going to break the bank. A couple of lunches were had overlooking the pool on the last day. These were both plentiful and delicious.
A gorgeous quiet pool was enjoyed a few mornings and the pool attendant was so kind and polite a credit to the hotel. Cleanest pool I’ve seen in a long time.
All in all a pleasant stay.

Staff are very good. Value for money.
Breakfast was good value for money if booked in advance
Room was cleaned everyday. Even the towels and linen were changed
The shower pressure needs to improve
There needs to be Room service
If a hot kettle is in the room, tea, coffee, sugar and milk should be provided. We had no milk in our room and due to no room service, milk was not provided when asked for.

We chose this hotel due to the location, parking and swimming pool.
The first night we were in a room facing the busy main road. Due to bad sound insulation it was very noisy and we had a bad sleep. Next day we moved to a room at the back which was quiet.
The pool was closed due to some unclear reason, a sign stated there was no life guard. Big disappointment because the pool was one of our reasons to book the NH hotel.
The menu for both dinner and lunch was the same limited choice for the 3 days we stayed, no variety, no choice of wines or different beers and prices were high. €5,50 for a small beer is high.
Second evening we decided to try the restaurant again but the only waiter was too busy chatting to an older couple and had no attention for several other people waiting to get serviced. 2 couples as well as us went away to find a different place to eat.
We were disappointed and this is not NH standards.
We had dinner twice just 10 minutes walk down the main road at a lovely restaurant called Dal Sardo which we can highly recommend.

Good hotel for a cheapish stay during the summer months, we visited and the pool was fabulous and the A/C was as required. It is also located right near a direct bus to the city centre so location was not an issue. Room was clean and hotel lobby and facilities were not a problem and were well maintained. The hotel really needs to change some of its processes, firstly, I did find it strange the hotel charged €2 per towel at a non-refundable rate but I did not bat an eye at this. We faced issues right away as we had booked a double bed and was given a twin, they fixed this by placing a double mattress over 2 twin beds and stated it was always subject to availability however if I book a double as was advertised, I expect a double on arrival. I think the rooms also need a little extra thought, our tea and coffee was not able to be enjoyed as there was no milk and had to be black and the water bottled gifted to the room required a bottle opener with no bottle opener provided. Wi-if also did not work and was advertised as free. Finally, staff need improving especially in the dining facilities as food provided is very overpriced for the quantity you receive and the service was very slow, I also find it ridiculous you do not even have a choice to pay there and then and it has to be charged to room - this forced me to have to pay conversion fees for different currency. The bar staff have to be trained better, we ordered a pina colada and not only did it take 45 minutes to arrive, what arrived was pineapple juice out the carton and ice with a little vodka, not a pina colada. If you choose to stay here, do not use their extra services, good place to stay if only looking to lay your head and have a pool and breakfast.

Dear Aaron, thank you for sharing your experience with us, we are glad you liked the rooms and our facilities. Apology for the restaurant service, the bar might have been very busy but we are sorry for the inconvenience. about the wifi, it is free of charge! but you have to enter with a username and a password written either in your room and at the reception, if you would have asked we would have told you that. We hope to see you soon, best regards

Pros:
I stayed at the hotel for a weekend with my 15 year old daughter over a very hot weekend, and we really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are large, beds are comfortable, and the location worked well for us as only 30 minutes by cab from the airport. The food and service were good.

Con:
As we were travelling in July which is generally very hot in Rome, we booked this hotel specifically as it has a pool. We were keen to cool off and relax after walking around Rome all day. While the pool is lovely, the pool rules were annoying and inconvenient. If you don't have your own towel, you have to hire them for e2.50 per towel from reception, you can not use the towels from the room (we got told off for doing this and were told it "is a very big deal". The pool also closes at 7pm, which is frustrating as the sun is still shining at that time. A 9pm pool closure time would be much better.

Our bathroom was large but had mould in the shower and the paint on the ceiling was peeling from water damage. For the cost of the room, I was surprised to see this.

Not far from Vatican City on foot, so location was fine.
Check-in and out slow and very basic, not much hotel info provided.
Rooms need to be maintained more often, shower doors were falling apart.
A bit dust on the shelves, but ok and clean daily. Basic amenities in the bathroom, not even a box of tissues.
I don't think I was assigned a superior room as paid, seemed more like a standard one with 2 bathrobes to look like superior.
1st floor, next to the elevator, back side of the hotel by the machines and roads with a window not very good isolated for noise.
Breakfast was not refilled in a good timely manner, choices were poor.
Reception forgot to book the shuttle and the option given was a taxi with a fix rate, which it is a bit higher than getting a taxi yourself (few euros only, but strange).
As an NH Hotels ex-employee, I was disappointed with the experience.
Not recommended for holiday destination, but probably good for events, conferences, etc.

Hotel itself is nice enough. Room comfortable until it gets too hot. Cannot adjust air con. Pool was nice but be warned you have to pay for towels by buying a token from reception to give to the lifeguard $2.50 a day per towel. A bit of a back and forth exercise if you’re unaware the first time. There is no pool bar as advertised you have to go to the bar in the main building. We had a poor experience with the restaurant in the evening, took two hours to get two plates of pasta, staff were rude and dismissive. Day staff much more competent and efficient. To counteract bring your own food and drinks to the pool and there are some nice restaurants around, public transport facilities are easily accessible to get around as well.

The location is great. There are taxi's and buses available and you can actually walk to the Vatican and downtown from there. It's probably about a mile or so and maybe a 20 minute walk to the Vatican if I remember correctly.. Also just a block away from the hotel is a main thoroughfare filled with shops and sidewalk cafe's etc. When we travel to Rome, Villa Carpegna is the only hotel we ever stay at.

The hotel staff is extremely receptive and can answer the question about the pool. We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast each morning as they had an array of excellent options to suit the needs of what the customer wanted, be it a lite breakfast or full hot breakfast.
