The Hotel Artemide was first class from the moment I arrived
My bags were taken and I was seated in the reception area with tea, coffee and cake available while I waited on a receptionist coming free - this didn’t take long
I arrived before normal check in time but my room was ready which was great
The room was lovely. I had upgraded to a double. The bathroom was huge and had a great shower
I hadn’t appreciated that there would be a free mini bar that had loads of water, a small bottle of Prosecco , a couple of beers and some fruit juices and flavoured waters as well as tea, coffee and sweet and savoury snacks. This was replenished every day
The hotel is in a great location- it is really easy to walk about and see all of the sights
The buffet breakfast was excellent - I had smoked salmon with cream cheese and melon and you get a pot of coffee brought to the table
All of the breakfast room staff were lovely - so welcoming
I had been given a voucher for a Prosecco at the bar so I went down one night and had that and then ordered a cocktail. Mauritzio ( hope that is the right spelling) made me his signature espresso martini which was delicious
The next block up from the hotel is the church St Paul’s within the walls and I had noticed that they had La Traviata on one night that I was there so I managed to get tickets on the day which was an experience to get so up close to a professional opera company performance
If I was to go back to Rome, I’d definitely stay here again - loved it

This hotel was stellar. It hit on all points: service, location, restaurant, art gallery but best of all BREAKFAST! Holy moly, I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced a hotel breakfast like that. The drinks and snacks in the room were super nice as well. The street noise is a bit much but I suspect that’s true anywhere in the city. The sirens never seem to stop in Rome. So glad we stayed here, it was a great experience.

I picked this hotel as a great “mid-tier” choice and it did not disappoint. It’s not the most expensive choice, but it’s very very nice and feels luxurious. It’s also a great location, easy walking to the main attractions as well as several places to eat. We did take taxi to some farther dinner reservations but you could probably walk those too. Once you walk into this hotel it feels so nice, they also have a helpful concierge that made some dinner reservations for us! The staff are welcoming and kind. The rooms are nice, and you get a free mini bar stocked daily. There is a spa that we checked out too - we got a massage but there is also a whole sauna/bath experience. Quite relaxing, very nice. Lastly, the breakfast is AMAZING. We didn’t know if we wanted to have a full hotel breakfast every day but it was so good we just kept going back. I think the breakfast buffet is great for several reasons. First, tons to choose from, and they’ll take your coffee order for you. Variety. Second, if you are a foreign travel used to having a larger breakfast or need one before exploring, this is perfect. Regular Italian breakfast is just a simple pastry and coffee, but my husband and I needed to fuel up more before a full day of sight seeing, so we loved this. If you book a regular priced room the breakfast is included, if you have a standard non-refundable room it is 14 Euro, which I think is very reasonable. Overall, we had a great experience here! Loved this hotel, it was our home away from home in Rome! (Oh and if you’re visiting Florence, they have a sister location named Hotel Spadai, we stayed there too!)

This hotel exceeded all our expectations. The staff were extremely attentive to any request at all. Beds are super comfy and our room was spotless. All drinks are replaced daily in mini bar fridge which was lovely to come back to after a big day of walking. We found the location was an easy walk to all the main attractions if you have a moderate level of fitness. The breakfast buffet was absolutely amazing and often meant we only needed a light lunch. We will definitely be staying at Hotel Artemide on our next visit to Rome.

We expected great things from this hotel but were disappointed. The room was very cramped, we had a very small wardrobe, we couldn’t open the bathroom door without it hitting the bede, the windows couldn’t be opened and were covered outside so it lacked fresh air and didn’t feel comfortable.
We were woken by drilling on the 2nd and third days of our stay. It was loud and went on from 8 a.m for an hour or so. The first day it happened I sent an email to reception and got one reply saying he would check but we didn’t get any update. We reported it again on the second day and again were told he would check but we were leaving anyway.
The people working in breakfast buffet were lovely but we didn’t enjoy the actual breakfast at all. The fruit wasn’t great quality, there were far far too many cakes (about half the whole breakfast space were cakes). For someone who needs to control sugar or follow healthy diet for heart health this wasn’t good. There were no yogurts at all.
The first morning there were flies all over the food, much of which isn’t covered. The system for water is crazy - the glasses are tiny and the bottles left in a pool of ice/ water so they are wet and drip when lifted. They need to put out decent sized glasses or bottles of chilled water. On the second day the orange juice had gone off. The eggs were horrendously runny. We were really put off by breakfast.
On the positive, the minibar was good, Loren in the spa was very helpful on every occasion, the spa facilities were good except for a broken jet in the pool (which was fine as there were several others), and except for there being no places for hanging or keeping towels while using the spa. It is a small area.
We stayed in 4 hotels during our time in Italy and the Artemide was definitely our worst experience in terms of service and food (service at the Rooftop bar also being poor).

Response from Federico Pacini, Direttore generale at Hotel Artemide
Responded 26 Jul 2024
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback regarding your recent stay at our hotel. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. Regarding the room size, we offer various room types to cater to different needs for space and comfort. We regret that you found your room cramped and the wardrobe too small. The dimensions and features of our rooms are listed online, but we understand that this information may not always convey the true experience. If we had been informed during your stay, we would have gladly assisted in finding a more suitable room for you. As for the windows, all our hotel windows are openable. The shutters outside are a feature of historic Italian buildings and are also operable. We apologise if the mechanism of opening them was not clear, and if you had notified us, we would have provided immediate assistance. Concerning the noise, we understand how disruptive this can be. Unfortunately, in any large city, buildings are close together, and we cannot control any unexpected noise coming from nearby buildings. We apologise for any inconvenience this caused and the lack of follow-up on our part. On the topic of breakfast, we are surprised to hear your feedback, as it is one of our most praised services, frequently highlighted in hundreds of reviews. Our extensive buffet includes a wide selection of sweet and savoury dishes, vegetables, and fruits, often rated higher than those of five-star hotels. We acknowledge that taste is subjective and personal, and we are always ready to accommodate special off-menu requests. Regarding the yogurt, we are genuinely puzzled as it is prominently displayed on the buffet. It is not pre-packaged, but rather prepared daily in glass jars by our chef. We offer six different types, including Greek yogurt and four varieties made fresh each morning with fruit pulp by our chef. We are pleased that you enjoyed the minibar, the spa facilities, and found Loren to be very helpful. Your constructive feedback on these positive aspects is much appreciated. We sincerely apologise for the issues you encountered and the impact they had on your stay. We hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with an improved experience. Arrivederci, Federico Pacini Hotel Manager

We had the chance to stay at this hotel for six days. The experience begins with the team, always smart and chic, but at the same time mixing complicity and humor. A very appreciable proximity and personalization in this kind of establishment.
The impeccable room, quiet courtyard side, promised us beautiful nights in a very welcoming queen size bed. Every day a small chocolate on the bedside table, the napkins changed and tidy, the cushions arranged, the mini bar free rematched (very convenient to take bottles of water during visits or walks, or to drink a glass of prosecco on the way back to the hotel).
Breakfast is sublime. Beyond the classic pastries, English breakfast (with 4 kinds of meat!), jams and mueslies, we find especially a WALL of homemade cakes, even in 6 days we have not tasted everything, pancakes still hot, varied donuts, an Italian part with pizzas, croutons with olives and tomatoes, etc..., a fresh part with fresh vegetables, meat carpaccios, and salmon smoked at will, that can be accompanied by fresh Ricotta or other local cheeses, a fruit bar, already pre-cut, a delight. And if all this isn’t enough, let yourself be surprised by the plates brought spontaneously by Alessandro and his team, or by the personal choices they will satisfy. (Thanks to Alessandro for his good humor and impeccable work, of course supported by his whole team!)
The spa, small enough for this kind of establishment, but only available by reservation. This makes it possible not to get cluttered. We have never been more than 5. Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna,... Just perfect after miles in Rome!
Location: what to say, on foot, in 10 minutes to the Trevi Fountain or Piazza Venezia, in 15 minutes to the Colosseum and its Roman Forum. The heart of Rome is within walking distance. We just used electric scooters to get to the Vatican or back from Trastevere.
And finally, the team will always be available for advice, bars, restaurants, local products. A big thank you to the team, the reception, the room staff, the bar or breakfast, you offered us a sweet place.
And what about Rome, do not run, stroll there!!

Returned to Rome for the 4th time on a 3 day city break - this time with friends. Needed somewhere central, not to far away from main sight-seeing attractions. This hotel location was perfect - walking distance to Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, Altare della Patria, Colosseum, Forum/Palatine Hill. We took a taxi from the hotel to the Vatican /StPeters - 20 minute ride thru traffic - cost 20 euros each way. Hotel staff were excellent, without exception. Very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Our 2 x rooms were excellent, located on the the top / 4th floor of the hotel, at the front with a lovely balcony looking over Via Nazionale. Spotlessly clean, with lovely high ceilings and a big, comfortable bed +large screen tv. Safe located inside storage cupboards. Lovely bathroom with soaking bath / shower over - water pressure very good. Large wall mirror and illuminated makeup mirror for the ladies. Complimentary mini-bar / fridge stocked with beer wine, water, fruit juices - all free / without charge - restocked every day. Never had this before! Room serviced every day - little chocolates left on bed for your return - Thank You Daniela. Breakfast service very good - everything you could want - hot and cold. Fresh coffee / tea served to your table, refreshed whenever you want. Food was very good. Hotel did have a lovely Spa, but we didn’t make use of this - looked very nice. Couple of hopefully useful general tips re visiting Rome. February, March, April, Sept, October, November are best months for city breaks - avoid the summer months - far too hot and too many people. We made this mistake once - visited in July - never again. Vatican Museums - book a guided tour - well worth it. Tours jump the horrendously long queues around the outside wall and also allow access straight into St Peter’s at the end of the end - otherwise it’s all the way back to the front, and queue again. Re eating out, avoid the tourist restaurants - follow the locals. Lovely little bistro situated 5 minute walk from hotel - Diadema - Good food/ wine, well priced and very convenient.

This is one of the most impressive hotels I have ever stayed in (the other is Spadai from Florence). If you are looking for a hotel where you feel like you are the most important guest, this is it!
The hotel is excellently located, close to shops and historical sights. The room was spacious, tastefully arranged and the bed was comfortable (with 2 types of pillows for every taste). The disadvantage of the rooms facing the street is that you can hear the noise from outside, but the view is superb. We didn't have a problem with this, but there were people who asked at the reception to be moved and they were very nice to ask us too if we wanted this (we refused). The bathroom is large, has everything you need and if someone forgets their toothbrush, toothpaste or comb at home, all you have to do is ask at the reception. The drinks and snacks from the minibar were free and stocked every day. We went at the spa too and got a couple massage (it was wonderful and relaxing).
But the gem of this hotel is the hotel staff. My husband and I met Alessandro ( food and beverage manager) at the Spadai Hotel in Florence (1 year ago). He was in charge of breakfast. We were very impressed by his attention to details: the food should be fresh and hot and if something didn't look right it was replaced quickly, from the first day he remembered what we liked to drink (favorite coffee, juice, water), he constantly came back to see if everything is okay or if he can help us with something. When we left, we congratulated him on the way the breakfast was conducted and he impressed us with the modesty he showed. He praised his team more than himself. Since then we have planned to return to Spadai/Florence. A few months ago, my husband saw that Alessandro is the new food and beverage manager of the Artemide Hotel. Then we decided that it was time to revisit Rome. What I can say is that the same atmosphere from Spadai is also at the Artemide hotel. The staff is very attentive to details, conveys a feeling of well-being and you start your morning with a smile. I noticed that they put passion into what they do and this made me appreciate the small gestures even more (the bruschettas served individually, the warm pancakes made on the spot, the coffee served with a sincere smile).
At the Ambrosia rooftop restaurant we spent a wonderful evening. We met Micaela, Lacra, Sabrina and Maurizio (I hope I didn't misspell a name) who pampered us all evening. Alessandro was there too, taking care of everyone. We hardly left there, after saying goodbye 3 times, hugs and promising to see each other again. Thank you, guys!

550 Euros per night for two guests with breakfast, a complimentary proseco drink on the first night, a complementary bar with 2 beers one proseco (half bottle) and soft drinks, and a view like you would never expect (see photo).
One morning we came back from breakfast at 9.00 am, and could not get in because the maid was doing the room. For the following morning, wanting to be undisturbed, we had put the “dont disturb sign on the door “, the maid knocked at 8.30!
Then there is the bathroom, nothing special about it except that the sound insulation is minimal and when you are in it, you are left in no doubt as to what the neighbours are doing in their own.
Turning to the rooftop, particularly the bar part of it, there are much nicer views in Rome (for example the Sofitel's).
