This was our fourth stay at the hotel and hopefully will not be the last. We have never found anything to complain about during previous stays and this time was no exception. We were welcomed back warmly by the receptionist who was very efficient and helpful as indeed are all the staff. We always book a superior room with balcony on the 7th floor and really like those rooms, the balcony is large with a sunlounger as well as a table and chairs and a nice view of the domes and tower of the Santa Maria Maggiore church. It's pleasant (and remarkably quiet for the centre of such a big city) to sit out there with a drink and relax. The standard of cleanliness in the rooms and public areas is very good. A complimentary bottle of drinking water was provided in the room which could be refilled from a machine in the corridor which dispensed both cold and hot water, and there was a kettle with supplies of tea and coffee plus a mini fridge in the room.
For the first time, we had breakfast in the hotel during our stay, having been told when checking in that it would be free for Best Western Rewards Scheme Gold members, which was a nice surprise. The range of food and drinks available, and the service from the staff, was most impressive and it was nice to see that care had been taken to cater for guests with special dietary requirements. My husband is vegetarian and liked the fact that items like cheeses were served on separate trays and with separate serving implements from meat products. Although we didn't need them I noticed that vegan croissants and cakes, plus soya milk, oat milk and almond milk were all freely available from the buffet and clearly labelled, so guests didn't have to feel like a nuisance by having to request them specially. There was even prosecco available although I resisted the temptation! Breakfast normally costs €16 per guest, and compared with what that will buy for breakfast in nearby cafes in the area, I think it would be worth paying.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of November last year and we were pleasantly surprised by the hotel itself, as we had a very good location and a nice, modern room for an affordable rate.
The 3 of us shared a 2-level deluxe room and loved the balcony, which we didn't expect. The room was clean and practical, however I wouldn't recommend it for light sleepers as you could be bothered by others going up and down the stairs. However, the noise from outside or other rooms was negligible.
We only had breakfast at the hotel and the food quality was high, with lots of options. Even the pastries were first-class, not like the ones that you can usually find at a buffet. The dining area was well-kept like the rest of the hotel.
We will most likely return to Rome and Universo and enjoy the hotel once again.

This is not like any Best Western you’ve been to in North America. It is a more upscale hotel with marble floors and elegant decor. We stayed here for our last night in Italy. I chose it due to its proximity to the train station as we were coming back from Positano via the train from Napoli. It really was a 5 minute walk as Google Maps promised. The room was cool - the bed was up a small set of stairs in a loft style while the bathroom and closets etc. were downstairs. The bathroom was well stocked with toiletries, and had a multifunction shower which was nice. Breakfast was included and there were so many different items to choose from. They had traditional English breakfast foods such as eggs, bacon and toast as well as pastries and fresh fruit. The also had a juicing machine that made fresh squeezed orange juice (so delicious!). The next day the concierge called a taxi for us to take us to the airport. We were a bit wary of doing this ourselves as we have heard about people getting ripped off by taxi drivers, so having a driver that is recommended by the hotel (with a guaranteed rate) made us more relaxed. Overall, I would highly recommend the Best Western Universo in Rome.

We stayed here over the summer for a few days. This location is very accessbile to the Termini station and we found it easy to walk to various restaurants nearby as well. Our large party reserved 3 king rooms. One of the rooms was a corner king. It was larger that the other rooms and well appointed. The only con is that all 3 rooms had issues with the shower leaking slightly. It's more of a poor design issue. Be sure to ask for extra towels, you may need them. Housekeeping did a good job cleaning and responding to requests. We booked a stay that included the breakfast buffet. They are excellent at seating you and making sure you have everything you need. The elevators do run slow during busier times, but hang in there, eventually they do come! All in all, we would not hesitate to make this a home base while visiting Rome. We made a day trip to Florence via high speed train and it was nice being able to come back after a full day of travel. Be sure to book any activities you are interested in doing in advance, they fill up quickly and the price rises substantially the closer you get to travel. The Best Western Plus Hotel Universo is a solid choice.

The breakfast buffet was GREAT! Do not skip that, it’s 100% worth it. Yes you can find elsewhere some menus for €5-6, but this buffet is fresh and it has cold cuts, warm dishes, Italian pastries, fruit, and cappuccinos! Front desk staff was very welcoming and professional, room was comfortable, only minor thing is the lack of insulation, so you may hear your neighbor sneeze. Otherwise it’s an excellent central choice to stay in Rome.

Hotel itself was lovely and in a really good location. It was clean and tidy. Very short walk to the main train terminal and very short walks to bus stops including all the hop on hop off buses.
Breakfast was really good, lots of different options including cooked, fruit, salad, pancakes, waffles, pastries and cakes. Good selection of drinks and freshly squeezed orange juice.
Had dinner one evening at the hotel which was also nice, not a huge menu but could choose something from it.
The rooftop bar is a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink and the young lad that works up there was lovely and very friendly.
Most of the staff were very friendly unfortunately the reception staff and management were just plain rude and this put me off the hotel completely so I personally would not stay there again because first impressions count. We were lied to by both the reception staff and management and to me that makes me not want to recommend the hotel to anyone.
I spent hours before travelling and booking to actually find a twin room as I was travelling with my mum as a lot of hotels only had doubles and they gave us a room without even a full sized double bed in, we had proof with us from the booking that we had booked a twin room but they said there were no other rooms available but funnily enough they had one when another €120 was paid on top of what we had already booked so we paid more for exactly what we had booked in the first place which wasn’t cheap.
Again reception staff were rude when checking out so personally I was not sorry to see the back of the hotel, this is such a shame as all other areas of the hotel were really good and all other members of staff very friendly.

This hotel is great. The location near the Termini Rail Station, Metro and Bus station makes it ideal. The buffet breakfast with fresh orange squeeze juice and espresso/cappuccino freshly served to your table was refreshing. We had the two level room/loft with high ceilings made for a romantic lodging. Lorenzo courteous and polite, and was helpful and made sure everything we needed was taken care of without hesitation. The entire staff from the restaurant, reception, rooftop night-bar, and housekeeping was simply superb. I will definitely stay here again, and I highly suggest if you stay here, you will not be disappointed.

Not sure, we arrived at the hotel on foot, after arriving in Rome by train (train station 2 blocks from the hotel).
Yes Sally, this fine hotel will gladly store your luggage for hours if necessary on the day of check-out. buon viaggio, spqr, alexandria, va, u.s.a.
