Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Everything was very clean in the room! The room smelled perfect! The amenities were many and of excellent quality. The receptionists were kind and helpful. Mr Giuseppe and his colleagues were extra kind and helpful!!! Around the hotel there were many restaurants, super markets and shops! Everything was perfect! An excellent boutique hotel! Every time we will travel to Rome it was our fourth time) we will surely stay there!! In addition it is more than a value for money boutique hotel!

A real treasure in the heart of Rome! So welcoming, the people at the reception make us feel at home. You won't be disappointed. Honestly I’m only sharing this review because the hotel really deserves it but i’m also doing it reluctantly because I dont want everyone to know about Roma’s best kept secret! If you luckily happen to stumble on this review dont hesitate one more second. Amazing service, unbeatable price/quality ratio, king bed, large bath, high ceilings, bottle of Prosecco and the list goes on. Thank you, Gab&Tom

My family booked a stay at Mario de Dior as we had stayed there before and it was perfect in terms of accommodation, amenities, location and the staff. This time did not disappoint at all - hotel was as great as always. Only problem is that my mother has serious mobility issues and the stairs to the room were too much for her to handle. Seeing our problem and how it ruined our time, the team headed by Mr. Giuseppe bent over backwards to help: they gave us a discount, tried to move us to another room, and when all failed to solve the problem, Mr. Giuseppe spent his weekend to find us alternate accommodation at a sister hotel which he did and moved us to Babuino 181 with a discounted rate as well. They truly are wonderful great people who saved us and saved our trip. God bless the entire team: Giuseppe, Olga and Ilaria. I will write a separate review for Babuino.

We just had a very disappointing stay in a so called “Suite” at Mario de Fiori 37 Hotel. We have stayed in many different types of lodgings all over the world, including old buildings that have been converted into hotels, some with sensitivity and some not. This hotel falls into the latter group, however I can only address the “suite” and this conversion was done with the cheapest materials, is tired and in serious need of a proper renovation or at least a facelift and a deep cleaning. When we arrived at 4pm there was only the receptionist there and no porter. The lift takes 1 person and one bag, so multiple trips had to be made to get up to the top floor then the bags had to be muscled up a series of 11 steep steps and through a narrow door into the room. The bathroom has a terrible odor presumably from the drains with signs of mold or dirt in some places, the floor tile and walls are scuffed and the place feels dirty, maybe due to the old paint job. The air conditioning is totally inadequate and failed in the middle of the first night, probably on a timer to save money. The room photos are deceiving and make it look a lot better than the reality. On the plus side Olga, the receptionist was nice and helpful, the hotel is in a good (but touristy) location, and the bed was comfortable and hot water plentiful with good water pressure. In short, we found the hotel to be poor value for money and would not recommend it to anyone.

I stayed here about 10 years ago and had a really great experience. It was a small, boutique luxury hotel at the time so I was excited to return. We were there yesterday and it is very much not what I remember. The rooms and hallway look very worn in at this point. When I went before, the hotel was sleek and polished. Now things look dirty, worn, and old. The rooms need repainting, regrouting, and refinishing the floors. Basically nothing looks “fresh” anymore. It all needs updating. Also, in room 102 the whole wall is a mirror directly in front of the toilet so it leaves you uncomfortably staring at yourself while using the bathroom. I don’t know whose idea that was, but it was a weird one. On the other hand, the staff is very nice and helpful. The A/C works well. The beds are clean and comfortable. It is a comfortable place, but the hotel has seen better days and not worth the price.

This small boutique hotel is about three minutes from the Spanish steps and is ideally located. When you going in that this hotel did not have all of the traditional amenities of the larger hotel chains, but we loved the two rooms that we had reserved. They were Beautifully appointed and incredibly unique, and I have the most beautiful bathrooms and high end toiletries. We were gifted with champagne and Macarons for our arrival and or consistently provided bottled water, which was incredibly important since Rome is going through a heat wave at the moment. Breakfast was included with our room right each day and was a short walk to their sister hotel. The breakfast was beautiful and had all of the traditional Italian pastries and cheeses and meats and cereals. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who will be in Rome for a few days and wants the experience of luxury, but without all of the traditional hotel, bells thanks and whistles.

Amazing location! You are in a perfect location to explore the Spanish Steps, Colosseum & Trevi Fountain by foot! A huge array of beautiful cafes , bars and restaurants around you! The rooms was lovely and no noise, our air conditioning did stop working a few times but they assisted to help us each time. Very friendly staff and I would absolutely recommend!

Fantastic location right by Spanish Steps yet very quiet. The suite was comfortable and adequate (not flash), but what made the stay so enjoyable was the fantastic team working there, particularly Olga who was so friendly and helpful. They make it feel like family!

Beautiful hotel in the Heart of Rome. Lovely hotel with clean rooms and fantastic staff close to the spanish steps. We had a wonderful stay in this hotel and will definitely be back to use again. It was just a shame they were booked out for our final stay in Rome as we had to move up the road for one night. Thanks again for the wonderful stay. Chris

This is our 2nd time staying at this boutique hotel with only 7-8 rooms and we love it! The area is perfect for walking around; it's close to the Spanish Steps; there are many shops and restaurants. The room itself is quite small, but typical of the area, and is really nice. The bed was comfortable. It is about 40 minutes from the FCO airport, but it's worth going there; we will always stay there when in Roma as it is within walking distance of many ancient sites!
