A hotel that was once exceptionally above average has unfortunately become average. Hotel Serapo has the potential to be a 5 star resort that could charge over €400 a night. The entire property is in need of a renovation. There are some rooms that they say are “renovated” but honestly they look the same as the other ones. The rooms are missing that cozy hotel feel. The sheets are 100% cotton and are very soft but the mattresses are extremely hard. Additionally, the pillows are very thin and the comforter feels more like a table cloth than a blanket. The beach front is beautiful but you do have to pay to book an umbrella. The issue with this is that no one is checking to see who is using the umbrellas and there are many locals who just come and use the Hotel Serapo chairs. Someone who clearly wasn’t a hotel resident was at my umbrella that I paid for and when I asked them to leave I was met with hostility. The seashell pool will always be adorable unfortunately it is also in need of a renovation. The tiles are very clearly coming off and losing color. Another major issue is the wifi. The wifi seems to only selectively work when at the bar. We were on the third floor and the wifi never reached our room. Hotel Serapo’s one redeeming quality will always be the food. The menu has great authentic options that are clearly made with fresh local ingredients. I’ve never had a bad meal here! I hope the hotel considers investing in a renovation because they could make way more money and increase their occupancy.

This hotel is fine. The food, location and especially the very helpful staff can provide an enjoyable stay. The pool and gardens are lovely and would not hesitate to stay there again. However having mobility issues cause real problems. This hotel has too many steps that prohibits access to reception and bedrooms are only accessible by going outside to back entrance that is badly lit up at night. In this present day all hotels should provide good disability access so get it sorted Serapo.

Great location on the beach front. Although the hotel is old in style and dated some of the rooms have been renovated. We had a junior suite which was very large and comfortable and met our basic needs. Breakfast is disappointing, everything is portion controlled and the bread was stale every morning like it came from the freezer. Fresh orange juice cost extra and not very nice. All the staff wore masks and the place was very clean. At weekends there is a lot of noise from the bar terrace as it seems to be a popular meeting point. They have an outdoor heated pool with jacuzzi, you have to wear swimcap to enter.

The location of the hotel is very good, close to the beach and with the port and centre easily accessible. The room was equipped with 3 beds and only one chair, but the balcony with a nice sea view had fortunately 2 chairs. We had dinner at the hotel the first night, it took a while before we got a table as we hadn’t booked in advance. We ordered from the limited menu, the food was good, but we never got any information on how we could the use the buffet. The service was not up to standard, the food was just put on the table without a word and the waitress turned away immediately. We were never asked whether we wanted wine, dessert or how the food tasted, just to order wine took a while. It turned out that only the head of the restaurant could speak any English. The service at the front was desk could also have been better. We didn’t get any information about breakfast, the private beach or the pool when checking in, and we got the impression that they were uninterested in us as guests.

I dream of this place almost every day. Everything from food to location is almost perfect. A very relaxing and family-friendly vacation for sure. The beaches of Gaeta are unmatched. Also a great hotel for tourists who don't speak any Italian.

The hotel is in a good location, next to the sea/beach, with a few bars and restaurants within walking distance. Most parts of the hotel need modernising and the layout of the hotel with several buildings is strange with a walk between each building and there are a lot of stairs. The pool and garden are the best part of the hotel. It is annoying that the pool opens late afternoon. The breakfast room is not very nice but the view is amazing. The choice for breakfast is good but they regularly run out of food. The room is dated with no fridge/safe but kept clean by the cleaners and plenty of towels. The staff on the beach was disorganised and we were regularly questioned what room we were and how long we were staying for. The food in the hotel was very good.

This is the second and last time we will stay here. There are elevators, but you must go up and down stairs to get anywhere. I hurt my knee before the trip and have to use a cane to get around. I would not recommend this property for anyone with mobility issues. The Jr. Suite we booked was just okay. It did have a balcony. There are two buildings and it is impossible to get from one building to the other without taking stairs. The breakfast was just okay. The location is great, but it is a long was to the beach. The bed was hard as a rock. The best part of this place is the veranda by the bar. The parking is also not very good.

Our cousin who is a travel agent suggested this hotel to us for the first week of our trip to Italy. There were a couple of surprises, but overall it was a pleasant stay. The hotel is close to the beach, boasts a friendly staff and provides comfortable rooms. We chose to stay on a mezza-pensione plan, so our dinners were included. As an American, some of the dinner choices were not ones I was thrilled about (rabbit, octopus, etc.!) but there was an abundance of fresh vegetables, salads, fruits and other foods. We didn't starve. The colazione was set in a large room which opened up onto a terrazza overlooking the water. There were plenty of offerings for breakfast, too. There is a pool underneath an enormous clamshell cover, but we only used it once. Bathing caps are required! We were surprised to have to pay extra for a couple of things. We've stayed on these plans before and wine has been included with dinner--it isn't here. But again, we didn't go without! Beer, wine and bottled water are offered for extra. The other thing was that we had to pay a daily rate for beach chairs and an umbrella, which I guess is accepted in many places. However, we were not charged at another hotel we stayed in--our chairs and umbrella came with the room. I would recommend this hotel. The beach is what we went for and where we spent most of our time. The beach staff is helpful and conscientious and we were able to swim, sun and relax in well-tended surroundings.
