This hotel has character from the outside to the old style lift going up to the 5th floor, rooms are very comfortable and clean. The view is amazing looking over the harbour, watching the pleasure, fishing boats, cruise and container ships. Enzo was amazing with his knowledge of restaurants, tours to take, how to get to places he would print out timetables, maps and even write down directions on how to get to places. He even helped us with sending packages back home ( too many souvenirs ). Antonella was great at breakfast for a chat ( helps having Italian background ) . Highly recommend staying at the Barone Bed & Breakfast.
We parked the car and there it was right in front of us. after taking the elevator 5 floors up in this very old building I opened the curtains and just loved the view of the harbour. I really enjoyed watching the big ships moving about and I think that was my highlight here. A short walk downtown brought us to many restaurants to choose from. the view here was something that I could really spend a lot of time with.
Our Host, Vincenzo was very accommodating and helpful. The B & B is quiet and spacious. Modest decor, but very comfortable. It's located away from center of town but easy to get around Vincenzo, explained how the locks worked, gave his cell in case we needed something. He recommended us to take the ferry to Positano, then Almafi and take the bus to Ravello. It was a great day. He recommended several restaurants which all were very good. Vincenzo will take care of you. I needed to see a Doctor and he gave me advise of where to go and checked with me if I got the care I needed. Now that's the personal touch. Highly recommend staying at the Barone B & B.
My husband and I caught an international evening flight into Naples which was delayed. By the time we were ready to transfer to Salerno at 10.30pm, we discovered our only option was to pay in excess of €100 for an hour-long taxi ride with no guarantee that anybody would be available to check us in. We opted to stay in a nearby transit hotel and caught the very first shuttle bus to Salerno the following morning. When we arrived at Barone Bed and Breakfast mid-morning (a day late), there was a sign on the door advising that check-ins outside their regular hours of 4-9pm were only allowed with prior arrangement, so we thought we made the correct decision in spending the night in Naples. When we attempted to check-in, the lady in attendance who didn't speak English rang Enzo. He was clearly furious as he had waited for us until midnight and demanded an explanation as to why we didn't contact him the night before. I apologised and explained that we did not have an Italian/European SIM card for our phone and there was no email address on our invoice. We also felt that ringing a B & B at such a late hour was inappropriate as we did not expect the desk to be manned 24/7 as might happen in a hotel environment. Despite us having paid for 4 nights accommodation including breakfast, Enzo refused to let us check-in until we had contacted our "agency" and they had spoken to him. I'm not sure what this was meant to achieve but we had booked in Australia and given the time difference, our travel agent was closed. Our conversation went round and round with him refusing to budge on his position, so we caught the train back to Naples and stayed in another hotel. We understand a level of anger/frustration but Enzo's refusal to let us check-in seemed disproportionate to the 'crime' and he essentially refused to provide a service that we had booked and paid for.

Dear Mrs, First I wanted to emphasize the following: 1) She not only noticed her delay, she did not even look for the evening of her arrival in Naples to send you an email or at least ask the staff of the Hotel where she has stayed to call me not in the late evening but at least on the morning of Check out it's on 24/08/2017 .. 2) On the phone call I explained to him my excellent English language that I needed to talk to the booking agency who always has a 24-hour help desk service for all customers who book online. If he says he did not have an email and phone number he should make it present to his agency that works badly; But I add that with today's technology you could search for everything with GOOGLE. Because you did not do that. At the B & B waiting for you there was a person not a puppy. I waited until midnight and then went to bed and left to you a notice that your missed was considered as NO SHOW. 3) I asked you to speak with the booking agency to understand how to do it and I also told you the room was at your destination, leaving the luggage and checking in at 4pm as I would return to the B & B . How did you hear that of your spontaneous will you took your luggage and you went away. 4) I also expected you on 24/08/2017 until 9.30 pm believing you would be back keeping the room because you already paid it, but I did not see and herd you. I'm sorry for what happened but my conscience is quiet, and with all my guests I always try to give full availability and help ..... maybe the angry person was you. Regards. Enzo P.
Vincent was very pleasant and accommodating, helping us to settle in, find a place for dinner, taking our breakfast order, and importantly, advising us on the best way to see Capri from Salerno: take the ferry that's walking distance from the hotel, and once aboard, seek out Alfonse - a white haired gent with little blue "A" stickers. For 20 euro he'll be your tour guide around Capri, getting you easily on and off buses to the cities of Capri and Anacapri, while avoiding all the crowds - so well worth it!
Hi, sorry I did not reply in time.Have only just picked up your e-mail. If I had the answer to your question,I'd be worth a lot of money. My only advice to you about driving in Italy is "close your eyes and go for it... More
