In a privileged setting, surrounded by palm trees from which sap is extracted to make the famous palm honey and in the fringe of the Garajonay National Park, is the Rural Site Jardin Las Hayas. A complex of six independent typical Canarian houses where good taste and tranquility of the location become our primary identity. The comfort of our suites and rooms is an element of preference for us, sharing from our terrace unique views of the natural landscape of Las Hayas, where time seems to stand still and where only the silence of chirping birds breaks the perfect harmony of nature.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked accommodation in traditional stone houses for two nights. In the final, we appreciated the good location of the accommodation the most, because from here we could go hiking to the national park and didn't have to commute anywhere by car. What we weren't so excited about was the accommodation itself, where the toilets smelled and the sheets had dried blood in places. Such bedding, even if washed, should no longer be put into circulation... we rate the accommodation as very average. Room service could also be better, given that toilet paper is not allowed to be flushed down the toilet…

I was very impressed by the room I stayed in. Perfectly well equipped and stylishly decorated. I only stayed one night passing through so didn't get to enjoy it much, not least of which as the weather was atrocious.

However, it wasn't hard to picture how lovely this place would be in good weather with a private little outside area connected to my room, and the terrace are at the front of the property.

Was a pleasant surprise to find a kettle in the room (unusual in the Canaries) and have a hot drink having walked here from San Sebastian in howling winds and rain.

Would definitely return if looking for a peaceful getaway.

I rented a cottage here for one week. It consisted of a reasonably sized bedroom. a tiny bathroom(2x 2 metres) and a small kitchen(4x2 metres). The bedroom storage consisted of one wardrobe and nowhere to place our suitcases except the floor. The kitchen equipment was rudimentary. The only heating was in the bedroom so the bathroom and kitchen were permanently cold. Cleaning of the cottage, changing of towels and bed linen is only done once a week.

The property sits high in the mountains and so spends much of the year in cloud and subject to high winds. The accommodation is run by a Chinese family who speak little English. For a choice of restaurants it is necessary to drive to Valle Gran Rey, which is a 25 minute drive away.

Originally booked 2 nights but cancelled the second one. Filthy and tiny room with a window towards a brick wall. Mould all over the bathroom and curtains. Breakfast is a joke served by unfriendly waitstaff. Never again!

The website of this provider feigns seriousness and professionalism. I warn against this based on my experiences there.
The old lady Efigenia and her legendary Goffio are advertised. The lady is no longer alive and the new owner is exploiting her good reputation. We have voiced our criticism several times and the response has only been dismissive and presumptuous.
My experience: We did not get the apartment we had booked! There was no advertised welcome package. The kettle and toaster were missing, the fridge smelled horrible. With the explanation that the kettle and toaster were not included in the equipment, the fridge was replaced the next day and a kettle and toaster were brought. The outside temperature during our visit was around 9 degrees Celsius, but there was no heating in the bathroom and a window that could not be closed completely. Ice cold. And no hooks in the bathroom to hang up a towel.
Disgusting black worms came into the apartment from the terrace when the doors and windows were closed.
No comfortable seating on the terrace, no cushions for the hard chairs. The same goes for the chairs inside.
Extremely carelessly thrown together interior, dark and musty.
Unfortunately, the owner doesn't respond to anything and writes cheeky emails. We found out that he even supposedly works in the La Gomera Tourist Office. Unbelievable. We left early, no refund of course. Everyone should decide for themselves whether they want to stay there...

Rural house in the mountains ideal for hiking. With a couple of very good restaurants.
Clean rooms with terrace with views.
Keep in mind that you are at an altitude of 1000 meters and sometimes fog and breezes come and it rains quite heavily, especially in the evenings.
Recommended if you are a hiker

I spent a week here mid September 2014. The place is idyllic. The accommodation was clean, functional and more than expected. The staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was as pleasant as could be. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Hospitality like this comes from a bygone age.

The welcome was quite cold. The airco / heating didn’t work at first but eventually they fixed it. This the good part. But the guy working there grabbed me twice for what seemed to be a hug. I am a woman travelling alone and I don’t want people - especially men - that I don’t know to touch my body without consent. I ‘ve had bad experiences in the past as well. And I didn’t feel safe to stay there anymore. I cancelled the two extra nights and informed them why. They proposed a breakfast / lunch but I still had to pay for the two extra nights - while I went away because of their behavior. It shouldn’t be this way - very disappointed. Don’t go there when you are a woman traveling alone

Small, simple, clean, nice hotel, just met our modest expectations. Reception is located in the restaurant Efigenia, some 300 m up the same main road. Only problem: reception staff was slow and not very nice. They looked new in job, meybe they still have to learn nice manners with guests...
