Oh Wow what a fabulous hotel, my husband and I stayed 3 nights in a Romantic room with stunning Seaviews. It was my 60th birthday ,I've been wanting to stay here as I had heard such good things and it certainly lived up to it. The room was stunning and our balcony had 2 loungers and a table with 2 chairs. So was ideal for having a drink and sunbathing. The bathroom was perfect and a walk in shower that was powerful, nothing worse than when the shower is not good. Toweling dressing gowns and slippers also provided. The toiletries are fine, I always bring my own so didn't use apart from the hand-wash soap. We were very close to the Emperador Restaurant which we used for Breakfast and Dinner. The breakfast had so much choice, everything we ate was delicious. Dinner was was also good, I'm quite a fussy eater, I tried new things and really enjoyed what I ate. My husband said the steak he had was one of the best he's had.We used the spa and both had a relaxing massage each, which was fabulous. Also used the indoor pool I have mobility problems and I managed to get in and out of pool with no problem. So that was a definite bonus. The hotel is set on different levels and has lift access to different areas. Just wished it had direct lift access to the naturist beach as there were too many stairs for me. We used the other beach which does have direct access to via a lift. We have stayed in many hotels and honestly when you have mobility issues they just don't seem to get it that we need more than a ramp here and there. But the Montiboli for me was very good and I got around just fine. The hotel had a bottle of cava delivered to our room on my birthday which was a nice touch and very much appreciated. The staff that we met were all so nice and helpful. It was a very relaxing break away, with lots of fabulous memories made.Going to miss waking up to the views.

This is a big positive surprise to me. My wife, I and our 12 year old, booked a bungalow with full views of the ocean and beach. Large, clean and to fall asleep and waken to the sounds of the waves was priceless. All mod cons were there and all worked perfectly.

Staff were excellent. At the reception I mainly dealt with Jorge and Vicent both of whom were exceptionally friendly, professional and enthusiastic. I had hoped that I would see Vicent given the comments made about him in an earlier post. Well he was quite the opposite to what client perceived in their comments. Possibly just a bad day...

The hotel does look out onto the nudist beach (more correctly termed naturist I believe) and my terrace was the closest in distance. About 60% of people were naked the others not. Not my kind of thing to lie on the beach in my birthday suit but hey everyone to their own. It certainly didn't bother and you would have to strain your eyes to see anything interesting so I would say there should be no worries for people fearing sight of naked people... Their website does talk about this beach.

I am not a big fan of Spanish food in general, but the food was cooked well and served well. One waiter, Antonio, speaks good english and is very helpful.

The pool bar is excellent with great cocktails and prices of drinks were very reasonable. The artwork in the hotel is amazing. Perched on a cliff you are in heaven. Mainly Spanish guests, very few families. I saw two other families with young teenage kid each.

I would highly recommend to all.

The hotel is magnificent and ideal for a relaxing holiday. The room was very comfortable, the pool was very nice and the service was very good.

The spa was great. Everything worked. The massage service is also highly recommended.

The "Acantilado" pool is beautiful, with the most beautiful views of the Mediterranean.

You can access the beach (pebbles) by an elevator as well as the "del Acantilado" pool and the covered parking, which is recommended for convenience.

The breakfast is highly recommended, with the preparation of omelettes to taste, which is always desired. And the presence of a pot of chocolate (a famous local product) and churros. There is also cava for those who want to start the day with a glass...

However, without detracting from the current food menu, with several options for celiacs, which is appreciated, it presents for us the problem that in the land of the famous Alicante rice it is not possible to taste it.

Only one type of rice on the restaurant's tasting menu leaves the choice very limited.

Banda Rice, Señoret Rice, Black Rice, Lobster Soup Rice, are dishes that we love and in this hotel it is not possible to taste them.

On the other hand, there was some defect in a dinner in the preparation of some sirloins, which was quickly resolved and changed. In that sense, very good.

I would recommend it without a doubt... but, please, the rice...

5-star hotel, from which much more can be expected given its category.
The room has no visible sockets to plug in the coffee maker that it has, nor those required to connect the charging power supplies for mobile devices. After walking around the room many times, ONE appeared under the main dresser; In addition to discovering a screwed power strip with free sockets, on the back of the furniture that contains the mini fridge. In other words, you have to start moving furniture, even looking at the back of them as I mentioned; Nothing like this has ever happened to me; nor in lower category hotels.
On the other hand, we hire the nights with breakfast included, and half board (dinner).
The first day we ate, on our own (pun intended) at the EMPERADOR restaurant; where they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the hotel. Reference restaurant that is backed by being gourmet category. Conclusion; €101.90, two people, including half a bottle of cava, VAT included (as it should be); including in the sum €2.50 for four slices of bread, which you do not order, and which they charge you no matter what, without the slightest consideration taking into account the amount you pay, and without having the details of at least given the category of the restaurant they are supposed to, do not serve it as part of the service they must provide.
And the half board; dinner; Costing €57 per person, they don't even provide you with water, unless you pay for it separately; and I'm talking about a half board in a 5 star hotel.
This meanness does not occur in European countries; They always serve you at least a jug of cold water, unless you ask for mineral water, or any other drink.

This is a really lovely old style hotel in Villajoyosa. We were excited to visit for a relaxing afternoon and evening. Firstly at the spa and then cocktails and dinner at the restaurant. Everything was fine (apart from the lack of changing facilities or amenities, e.g.lack of hairdryer and area)in the spa. The panoramic cocktail terrace was very well attended and the Long Island Iced Tea, was very good. However, at the restaurant (we had booked) the service felt very rushed and unattentive. The table we were seated at was wonderful, with practically a panoramic view of the coastline. We ordered a Lamb dish and a Sea Bass. The lamb was quite frankly terrible! Very undercooked and VERY fatty! Infact inedible! We pointed this out to the waiter (who wasn't particularly interested, he informed us that he would "tell the chef".......). The seabass was ok, although very bland and the "green" sauce was not with flavour. It would have been better if they had offered us a shot or a free coffee to compensate, but this did not happen. We felt the high prices should of represented a high quality of food.....this unfortunately was not the case .We would NOT recommend this restaurant. The Spa however was very pleasant and the location is stunning.

This is our second year here, last year we came in August but we have found it more pleasant this year in September due to the weather is cooler and the hotel isn’t as busy.

Our experience has been very luxurious yet again, feeling totally relaxed with magical sea views.

Excellent service around the pool bar area , with drinks and food freshly prepared. Breakfast is delicious with a fantastic variety of fresh food and a chef cooking on request

I must say I missed seeing Miguel in the main restaurant as his attention to detail was very good, but all the other staff are pleasant and provide a good service. Again the views are breathtaking. I enjoyed the food, tasting different foods each night as I enjoy fish and meat.
I requested chips every night for hubby and it wasn’t a problem.

Wine menu outstanding choice

We stayed in a suite and our maid service has been outstanding clean sheets every day. Which has been appreciated

Super great location, very nice room. Breakfast buffet for Spanish standards surprisingly top! With chef for fresh egg dishes!
Menu for dinner too small, here it absolutely needs more choice! We ate the first night at Emperador restaurant, but then we went into town. Too bad, actually. Also, the atmosphere in the restaurant was rather "frosty" so according to the motto you do your business... but lacked the warmth and joy of the staff. After dinner we wanted to go to the bar, as there was no coffee served in the restaurant, but the bar was completely empty, after which we decided to enjoy the coffee in the room.
Overall a good hotel, which lives from its absolutely awesome location. But we think there's a lot more that could be done here. The enthusiasm is missing, the joy of work! The ability to delight guests. Too bad, actually, because we are overblown that there would be much more in it!
Despite everything, certainly one of the best hotels in the entire Costa Blanca.

An end-to-end experience of great hospitality. Quick and friendly check-in, perfect rooms, great views, nice beaches, best service. The only thing that was not so good was the breakfast, which offered no fresh orange juice, which should be a standard of a Spanish hotel of this category. And the buffet, where waiters serve food to the guests, is pretty inefficient. Other hotels in Spain handle the present situation better, having each guest using its own specific buffet tongs, which is quick and hygienic.

This shouldn’t be a 5 star hotel. It’s a 4 star hotel with 3 star service:

The good/ ok:

The setting is beautiful on the cliff top. Pool area and hotel bars and restaurants all have incredible views.

Rooms are fine, a bit basic for 5 star but fine. They were clean.

Bathroom again was ok, but needs an update.

Both the bedroom and bathroom are ready for a refurbishment to get it to be 5 star.

The Bad:

The service was really poor. We arrived at 9am and knew the hotel was at less than half capacity as I asked the receptionist. He asked for my mobile number to let me know when the room would be ready. His attitude generally was poor and he wasn’t forthcoming with anything. I went back after 45 minutes and asked if a room was ready, he answered bluntly ‘2 pm’. He wasn’t interested in helping or finding a solution, i managed to get a different room which was immediately available.

For use of the spa you had to pay €12 a day. Never ever seen that before in a 5 star hotel.

Pool had no service available on Tuesday and Wednesday of our stay. So we weren’t able to get a drink by the pool. I understand they may be short staffed and the hotel was quiet. However, even if a member of staff came round twice a day that would be better than nothing. Also never seen a 5 star hotel have anything closed, usually they operate 7 days a week!

On our final night we ate in the hotel restaurant and booked in for 8pm at hotel reception. Got there for 8pm and walked in the restaurant for a rude member of staff to usher us out of the restaurant ‘we are closed’ and locked the door behind us. I went up the reception to be told they open at 8.30pm… why book us in for 8 then?!

Overall I could have rated this hotel down to 1 or 2 out of 5 just for the poor service. However, due to the lovely cliff setting we still managed to enjoy our stay - hence 3 out of 5.

They need a manager to come in and teach the staff a lesson on customer service. I have never written a negative review previously on a 5 star hotel, however I have never had service like it in a 5 star hotel!

Dear BoardingPass563839, First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time to give us your opinion about your recent stay at our hotel on Tripadvisor. We would like to inform you that check-in time is after 16:00, on the day of your arrival the rooms were available before 14:00, so we could check you in earlier, but it will depend on if the rooms are occupied the day before as check-out is at 12:00 h. . However, as you may have noticed, it is always possible to leave your luggage in the luggage room and be able to use our facilities. Regarding the use of the spa, we offer free access throughout the stay for bookings of 2 or more nights exclusively for direct bookings and made through our website, otherwise, it is an extra service valued at 12 € per person. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and hope to see you soon. Kind regards, Customer Service Department Hotel Servigroup Montíboli.

An experience to live!
This Pension is sumptuous, it's Paradise on Earth.
Lush vegetation, on three levels, small, but superb pools, very bright, spacious rooms, as well as pleasant bathrooms (shower, and small spot toilet /bidet).
It's just beautiful! The photos are very close to reality... But much more beautiful in reality!
The Emperador restaurant is on top. Its Chef, Franco-Spanish, partner of Paul Bocuse for years, is creative, and everything is excellent.
This restaurant is under the watchful and incredibly friendly gaze of the manager, Martina. Lovely and very attentive to his customers. Assisted by the smiling Carlos, of such great kindness, and the serious Jose always benevolent.
The setting of the restaurant is very elegant and refined.
Rooms: we had Romantic. Superb with this terrace overlooking the sea! Great view! Absolute silence except for the soft soothing sound of the waves.
The terrace is really protected from view. It feels good.
At first, being used to 5* hotels, we were shocked by the lack of towels. But we made the point and very quickly things changed. The maids are perfect, discreet and efficient.
Always smiling.
What disappointed us were the people at the reception.
If you have any need, no problem, but it is the indifferent and distant side that is a bit shocking (especially in Andalusia!!!! )
Not once in two weeks did we worry about how well our stay went. We were not offered any map of the surroundings etc.... Nothing!
Nice, but no heat.
We had known the opposite for years in a 5* not far from Malaga...
and that really surprised us. Too bad... a little flat...
As for speaking French... they manage! Better to have solid knowledge of Spanish!!!
We're thinking about going back next year.
