Meliá Benidorm garners appreciation for its ideal location near the strip and beach, providing a serene yet accessible retreat. However, reviewers caution about the intrusive noise from persistent construction.
While the amenities such as cozy beds and expansive pools are well-received, opinions are mixed regarding the hotel's value, with some guests critical of outdated rooms and unexpected extra fees. Despite these concerns, the hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness earn praise, as does the approachable staff, though service speed occasionally falters.

Expect disruption at this hotel during the summer of 2024! The pool is currently under construction and the builders are very noisy, power tools and dumper trucks being used between the hours of 9am-6pm, Monday to Friday and shorter hours on a Saturday. As a result of this construction, there are plumes of dust choking people around the pool. The hotel tries to combat the noise by turning up the music around the pool bar but just ends up giving you a headache. The builders are very noisy, shouting at each other across the pool which just makes it all even worse. There was no mention of this upon booking. I had read the reviews before arrival and emailed the hotel to see when the construction would be complete and Claudia advised that it would all be done by mid-May and that it would not affect my trip… big lie! They even advertise on their website that the completion date is 20th May. From what the pool looks like now (28th May) I cannot imagine it will be completed by the summer holidays.
The rooms on the other hand were lovely, clean and well presented. There was plenty of space for 2 with a generous sized bathroom, only downside was the “aircon” was simply a fan and didn’t blow any cold out at all, when asked at reception how to use it, they just advised they didn’t know.
If you are a foodie, don’t bother with their buffet restaurant. It’s not great. If you do dine in there, aim for the grill on evenings as you at least know the meat/fish is fresh. Most of the food is congealed in a hot tray.
Downstairs bar and entertainment area is really nice, clean and spacious. The staff are ok, but not all that friendly. Not sure if this is just with British people.
The location is about 5-10 minutes walk from the strip and beach area which is good if you are wanting to be out of the way of the noise as you can’t hear any of it up here. There is a Lidl being built over the road and when this is complete, it would be ideal for supplies.
I would consider returning to the Melia Benidorm if I were ever to visit the place again, however I would have to ensure the pool construction was finished as it ruined our trip.

The hotel is lovely and clean and all the staff are very polite , I could not fault anything the room was big enough and the bathroom was very clean . The pool area was fantastic and surprisingly big for such a built up area . We only stayed bed and breakfast so cannot comment on any of the meals except breakfast but all I can say is the breakfast was spot on so much choice and fresh even had prosecco so could make your own buck fizz . If I had one thing to moan about it was the bar in the main lobby we had a few drinks in there as we were going out for the evening or just coming back from our evening stroll the price for the same 2 drinks were different every time only by a euro either way but all the same very strange , the hotel is just a short walk from the beach and far enough away from the night life that it doesn't bother you . But I would highly recommend walking to old town in the evening 30 minute stroll and it's a different world

We have spent 5 days at the Meliá Benidorm hotel and I wanted to leave here our general opinion, both good and bad, of the hotel. I'll start with how good what I got is. The receptionist Maria is a loving person, she did everything possible to give us the best room they had so that we would be comfortable and comfortable with our little one and from there a beautiful friendship arose. I will continue with the entertainment, the guys Rubén, Marcos, Eva, Nuria, Starlin, Violeta, Pablo and Diana are a super super friendly show and their activities are very entertaining. The food is delicious, although rice was always repeated morning and night. But the important thing is the quality, everything is great. Huge pool, there were always hammocks available, lots of shade and they give you wonderful towels for the pool.
Now I'm going for the bad.... The rooms are in need of renovation, at least the headboards because they are bare, something else is a bit average... For this reason we had to change rooms and Maria offered us the best she had and in gratitude for our patience she gave us a bottle of wine and some cheeses that one of the waiters brought to our room. The cleaning service is terrible other than they make your bed, they change the towels and little else.... Only one day did they sweep and scrub the room and because the little one spilled juice and cereal. The waiters at the buffet were mostly quite musti@s, there were also many who were very friendly. In general we have been great. Thank you very much to all.

On arrival we had a bit of a wait due to only 1 member of staff checking in guests but our room was ready so that helped. On arriving in our room it was basic but clean apart from the sofa. It was very grubby, especially the arms of it. There was a mattress protector on the bed but no pillow protector which is poor and not very hygienic. The rooms were cleaned and beds made every day. The mini bar and the hospitality tray goods in the room were very expensive so we didn’t use any of these. The staff were on the majority lovely, especially the bar staff and especially Fernando, excellent service and such a friendly man. The main restaurant staff not so friendly I’m afraid. The lunch and evening meals were mainly geared towards Spanish guests who I think had left their manners at home! And we as a group of 4, struggled with the quality and freshness of the food, and understanding of what the dishes were as they were all in Spanish. Most days and nights we had food from the bar, and although we paid for all inclusive some of the food from the bar menu was chargeable, but still good. The location of the hotel is not in the busy part and a good 10/15 minutes walk to the beach. We went to use the games room on one of the colder nights and at least 5 of the machines weren’t working. Although my comments mostly sound negative it is a lovely hotel and the outdoor pool and areas will be lovely in the summertime. I just hope my comments will be taken on board by the management and some improvements are made.

We stayed on the 18th floor and had partial sea view, although the hotel is way back from the sea with many hotels in front. On arrival the room looked amazing but it wasn't all it seemed. When we pulled the pillows away from the headboard the headboard was badly worn with bits falling off it. The lock to the patio doors was broken and it had a flimsy catch as a bodge - however this was so badly fitted that when locked there was a gap, letting noise in. If we wanted to keep the noise out it meant not locking the patio doors. The air conditioning was too noisy to have on, so we had to sleep sweating every night. Bottled water is not refreshed when the room was cleaned and my husband noticed that his coffee was not refreshed when room was cleaned. On the first day I noticed some kind of food stuff ground into the balcony table and this was still there when we left.
Half way into our holiday we decided to go to the gym. There was no treadmill and none of the electric gym equipment was working at all. 5 other people came in while we were there, poked at the equipment and left. Only the weights could be used. We then decided to use the indoor swimming pool. A lifeguard came and told use that we had to get swimming caps from reception !!! I have never heard anything like it. My husband went and collected caps which he thought were free, only to be charged for them when checking out. There was paint peeling off the walls, none of the Jacuzzis were working and we could see through the glass window, paper cups strewn into the outdoor shrubbery. Disgusting.
On a positive note, there was free lemon and orange water in the reception area which was nice after coming in from a long walk.
My husband had issue with the loud music blaring out from the pool each day, which I didn't mid too much.
Breakfast I thought was okay. there was a good variety of the usual breakfast items. Tiny cups meant that we had to go up to the machines several times to get a decent sized morning drink. I took my own decaffeinated tea bags. If you left going down to breakfast until 30 minutes or so before end of service, the atmosphere was absolute chaos. not a very pleasant environment to be in. We made a point of getting down there earlier. It was however like a huge canteen.
All in all, it was okay. We had an okay time but it was definitely not 4 star.

How disappointing this hotel was and I’ve been to quite a few in Benidorm so lets start with the good points. The garden and pool area is gorgeous and there is an indoor pool as a bonus although its a long walk to the beach and nighttime entertainment. Booking in was a breeze with plenty of reception staff and the bar area was nice with prices being reasonable for a hotel. Unfortunately that’s where it ends. The room comes with a mini fridge which is fully stocked so no room for personal items and the desk area again is full of hotel goods to buy thereby leaving very little surface area. The safe took 2 days to crack as it was really complicated with tiny worn off digits but we got there eventually so this wasn’t a problem. The breakfast food was inedible and food from the ‘hot’ counter was cold. It also had one of those toasters which takes 3 revolutions to get a bit of colour. There were plenty of bread rolls but all were hard and dry although there was a good cheese counter. We were half board and there was paella every night which was a bonus and lovely each time. Other main dishes were full of bones and gristle so I stuck to the paella but to be honest I didn’t try the fish which may have been ok. There was a boxing tournament on the week we stayed and I have never seen so much mess in a dining area with food all over the tables and on the floor. Staff cleaning up just wiped off the excess food onto the floor and at one point I was almost hit by a flying baked bean! We tried our best to find a quiet clean corner but it didn’t make for a pleasant experience. On check out fellow guests who had paid for half board had actually eaten out every day and not used the facilities. We were on the third floor which was quite noisy any way being sited over the bar area (My Apple Watch came up with a loud environment warning on a number of occasions!) Every single night there were youngsters banging and kicking on doors and on one occasion I actually thought there was a fight outside our door although I didn’t go out due to the number of voices. This was in the main atrium area overlooking reception and not one member of staff intervened or investigated. Again, the culprits were from the boxing groups of differing nations which is a shame. Lastly, our room was filthy. I asked on two occasions for towels to be changed and eventually they were daily changed but the bathroom was not cleaned. The sheets were stained and never changed though so I just slept on top. Also the room was in general disrepair with badly fitting potion doors, worn out headboards and very poor air con although this wasn’t an issue in November. We are clean, tidy and orderly guests wherever we stay and cleaned up ourselves which is hard with no toilet brush! There are so many hotel choices in Benidorm so I would definitely recommend looking for an alternative.

Just back from a 2 week stay and after many stays over the years in meliá I can’t see us returning apart from the fact we was staying on a building site for the 2 weeks. The overall standard of the hotel has dropped we went to dinner first night to be told we couldn’t go because we had already been for lunch (we never do lunch)the cleaner for our room was the rudest person I’ve ever met in Spain in 30years banging on our door every morning to clean it when the do not disturb sign was up. Went to the level lounge for breakfast once and couldn’t find a clean table so never went back for breakfast, the food at dinner is still the same poor standard. We are now home to find a charge to my card (not the first time was once charged £50 for bath robes that wasn’t even in our room when we arrived. So I emailed to find out what the charge was for to be told it for a drink at dinner, we didn’t have dinner at the hotel that night as we were in country ribs with friends.

Stayed at Melia Benidorm with friends last week, was pleasantly surprised by the hotel, fantastic reception area, bright, light and welcoming. Reception staff very slow, took 30mins to check in each person so waited nearly an hour which wasn't great but thankfully rooms were ready. Rooms were lovely and clean and big enough, mini bar was a nice touch as were the decent toiletries in the bathroom. We stayed on floor 14 with a fabulous view of the pool area. As with many hotels the sunbed wars started at 9am, with people waiting from about 8.30, we went down about 10 and did get a spot by the pool but loads of beds with towels empty til 1/2pm which was very frustrating. Lifeguards a bit like SAS, you can't use a ball or inflatable in this pool and if you did the Lifeguards arrived and demanded you stop, not very friendly but I suppose rules are rules! We stayed B&B, breakfast was lovely, I didn't eat any hot food (noticed some comments that the hot food wasn't hot?) I enjoyed fresh bread, cheese, tomato, olives and fruit which was absolutely delicious. Overall a great stay at the melia, would definitely return if in thr area again.

Stayed 5 nights in a suite on the level floor 23. Room was amazing, lovely lounge area with sofa, chairs and separate table and chairs. Lounge area has large TV and lots of storage space. You can also access a massive balcony which wraps around the suite. The balcony is amazing and comes with table and chairs, sofa and three sun loungers, the balcony can be accessed from lounge as mentioned and the bedroom. The balcony has amazing views and is a fantastic space. Bedroom is a great size and again has a wall mounted TV and lots of space. Bathroom has double sink and very good rain shower, it also has a massive bath which allows you to look out to the balcony and views over Benidorm. I loved the rituals products supplied but was a bit disappointed only one bath bomb was supplied given we had a 5 night stay. The room has a mini bar but, it’s very expensive so we did not use this although, housekeeping supplied complimentary water a few times during the week which was great, the also supplied some chocolate which was very tasty! We stayed bed and breakfast and a good selection was available but, it was always too cold which I assume was due to the air conditioning in the dining room. Coffee at breakfast is fabulous! The level is a nice touch as private loungers and a separate space to relax is great. The corner house opposite has amazing food for very good price so I highly recommend it. I was really disappointed when checking out as the gentleman at the level couldn’t help as he was busy, I was rushing to get to the airport so had to quickly go to main reception and wait to check out which was a stress for me already being in a rush. We paid £2044 for our 5 nights including flights with Jet 2 from Belfast. I like this hotel and the amazing suite but I don’t think it was worth what we paid given the little problems mentioned - when paying a lot I do expect a perfect stay and it fell just short but, if I was able to travel again at a lower price, I wouldn’t hesitate.

Visited 21-28 December, as a Christmas break, First good points : Staff very friendly, particularly the restaurant staff. Hotel impressive on the surface entering the building 4 lifts for each tower, didn't wait long. Beds comfortable, room size ok, with good size balcony. Plenty of dispensers in bathroom, bath towels extra large and soft Location ok for quiet stay (once the diggers had stopped in pool area, and across the road ). Christmas decorations added to festive spirit. Gala Dinner best meal of the week, apart from no roast potatoes ! Salmon, mussels, Giant prawns for starters All meats carved, with vegetable trimmings Traditional sweets. Now Bad points: Check in took for ever, couldn't find us on system. Rooms very tired, headboards flaking, breaking up through wear and tear. Shower /bath rusty and non slip worn away. Mini Bar expensive, although safe was free. Hardly any coat hangars. Bathroom door locked in, but repaired straight away. Room not made up first day. Restaurant- Main gripe, cold food, heard many complaints, choice very limited, was staying full board, missed lunch a few days, luckily Christmas day went in and had gala dinner which we believed had been brought forward from evening meal, not announced. Friends staying close wanted to join us was quoted 95 euros each, sorry was nice, but not worth that ! Mobility scooter area outside hotel not enough charging sockets, nightmare getting scooter out as packed area, must be bad when hotel is full in summer. Would I stay again ? No sorry, needs TLC,and food needs to be better.
