The Villa del Mar Hotel garners praise for its exemplary cleanliness and prime location close to the beach and local attractions. While the rooms boast stunning sea views and spaciousness, guests often consider them outdated and the beds uncomfortable. The hotel's atmosphere and service generally receive positive remarks, with staff being commended for their friendliness and attention to detail. However, opinions on the amenities are divided; some appreciate the food and spa, but others find the pool small and entertainment lacking. Despite these offerings, numerous travelers question the hotel's value for money.

Read some of the reviews & thought we may be disappointed however really can't fault this hotel. We were in room 608 which was at the very end of the corridor for 10 days. The room was kept spotless by the cleaning ladies , the bedding was changed frequently. I'm sure they changed it after one day as we must have had sand on our feet from the beach that they noticed. We had asked for a kettle as we don't drink coffee and it was delivered before we got back to the room.(there was a coffee pod machine). Lovely soft white towels. The pool area is quite small however beds were available and the lady on the bar was lovely. You pay a refundable deposit of EUR10 for towels & can change as often as you want to. You pay EUR 1 (refundable) for plastic pool cups which they advise you of on arrival. Really good idea. The food was brilliant, something for everyone. Drinks brilliant, service brilliant. If you don't like this hotel you must usually stay at the Ritz! It was a great holiday with lovely friendly staff! Will defo be back !

I’ll start by saying that I’d wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone who’s thinking of booking.

This is our 4th holiday here and we’ve booked again for later in the year, as it ticks all the boxes for us.

Accommodation, staff, food and facilities are spot on. There’s a friendly vibe about the hotel and nothing is too much trouble for anyone.

Special shout out to ETY and all the restaurant staff who are absolutely fantastic. Pleasant, polite, efficient and welcoming, they can’t help but make you feel that you are a valued and important guest. Ety remembered us from last year and I think that speaks volumes about how decent a hotel it is.

Food is always varied, delicious and tasty. It’s always well presented, plentiful and replenished when necessary. All the staff work hard at ensuring all guests are happy.

Bar staff are always smiling and cheerful plus all the drinks are of the best premium quality.

It’s still April so the pool bar is only open from 1000-1400hrs. Last year in May it was open 1000-1800hrs so hopefully as it weather gets better this will be addressed.

The hotel did actually send a member of staff around asking for suggestions and how things could be improved which I feel shows a great attitude and gives the customer an opportunity to make meaningful engagement.

Never had any issues getting a sun lounger around pool and the upstairs chill out area is a real dream and always popular because of its proximity to the amazing views plus of course the bar and spa.

Rooms are always cleaned to a really high standard, in fact the whole hotel is always gleaming.

When checking in get the plastic pool glasses 1€ each deposit and a towel 10€ deposit just saves you going back later.

Certainly a hotel you won’t be disappointed in :) Happy Holidays

I have no idea who is reviewing this hotel. We came here in April as a family of four. Firstly in our opinion this hotel is NOT a 4 star hotel. The family room we were given was extremely dated with a sofa bed for our children to sleep on that was years old and uncomfortable. We were on the 7th floor and the window had no lock on it. It opened wide out over the sofa bed so if you have small children, this is a death trap! If you like the feeling of eating in a staff canteen then you'll enjoy the hotel as this is the feeling you get when dining in the "restaurant". This hotel operates a tier system when it comes to certain sunbeds around the pool, if you don't have a red wristband then you can't sit on some of the sunbeds. No one had a red wristband when we were staying that we saw so they would rather no one sit on them than some people use them. The room wasn't particularly clean and everytime we used the shower the towel rail fell down. Although we complained to the rep, the feedback was poor. When you are on holiday for five days you don't really want to have to visit the rep everyday. I would NOT recommend this hotel. Please do not go thinking it's a 4 Star hotel as it really isn't. The best thing about the hotel is the location!!!

We stayed here for 7 nights in August on an All Inclusive basis and overall though the Villa De mar was a good hotel despite a couple of important issues.

Rooms.

Our room was on the 5 th floor and was cleaned every day. We had a large bed which was hard but manageable. Cupboard space was decent and the safe was available at 3 euros per day. The bathroom comprised of a Bath / shower combination and whilst dated and in need of a refurb was adequate. Be aware however that rooms here have NO BALCONY.

Food.

This hotel caters for many different Nationalities including Spanish and British guests and we found the food excellent. A full English breakfast is available if required and we really enjoyed the Spanish theme to the food. No complain whatsoever.

Drinks.

Our All Inclusive package was very good drinks wise. Spirits were all top shelf brands and the beer choice was excellent.

Hotel.

Reception was good and attentive and the staff did what they could to meet your needs. We requested a high floor and that was honoured. The Roof top sun terrace with its bar service was a superb idea with incredible veins but perhaps unsuitable for elderly guests who cannot bend as the sun beds are so low to the ground. There is no real lounge at this hotel apart from a couple of comfortable chairs next to the lifts. Below the reception was an entertainment floor with some entertainment including a Magic show mainly in Spanish and different artists. There is a gymnasium next to,the pool.

Pool.

A complete disaster if truth be told. It’s difficult to find via lift or staircase and when you arrive we found it lacking in sun bed space and cleanliness. The pool is way too small for the number of guests which totally spoils the place. The drinks at the bar were awful and the cocktails even worse. This area needs a structural re think and a complete refurbishment . Staff need to keep it clean and remove cigarette butts every day and someone needs to educate the staff on how to make proper cocktails at this bar because the other bars are much better.

Overall.

This Hotel is a good solid 3 star plus in our, opinion The location is superb. The food and drinks ( part from the pool) are fine. Rooms are adequate but again dated. The cleanliness of certain areas here spoil what once was a superb Hotel. The staff are fine and work hard but the lack of a balcony and the ridiculously small pool sadly leaves it lagging behind other hotels.

Would we return.

Without another refurbishment no.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback about your stay at Villa Del Mar. We are pleased to hear that you had an overall positive experience and enjoyed various aspects of our hotel, such as the quality of the food, drinks and service, especially the rooftop sun terrace. We appreciate your comments about the room and cleanliness, and are glad that you found the bed manageable and enjoyed the variety in the kitchen. However, we sincerely apologise for the problems you had with the pool area and the cocktails served at the pool bar. Your comments are very valuable and we will take them into account in our continuous efforts to improve our facilities and services. The cleanliness and maintenance of all areas are priorities for us, and we will address the concerns you have raised with our team. Whilst we understand the disappointment about the lack of balcony and the size of the pool we know it is not very large but we are located right on the sea front and appreciate your kind words about our location, staff and other facilities. We hope that, despite these problems, you were able to enjoy your stay with us. Thank you again for sharing your impressions, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future with improvements that will better meet your expectations. Best regards, The Villa del Mar team

I'm rating this based on that you have to pay £1 for a plastic glass so you can take your drinks? I was at the pool which is on the other side of the building and now need to get to the reception to pay £1 so I can get my drinks? Whoever did this rule must think twice! The guests are here to enjoy the stay not to go up and down and obey your stupid rules. Also on my cjeck in I found a pair of shoes under the sofa bed. I'm not sure how good my room was cleaned!

Dear Customer, We are sorry to hear that your experience was not as expected and appreciate you sharing your concerns. Regarding the plastic cups, to ensure the safety of all our guests, no glass cups or bottles can be used in the pool area, at the time of check-in it is explained to all our guests that the cup ticket must be purchased at reception. It is a deposit of 1 euro, to prevent the glasses from being stolen, and it is indicated that on the last day, or when they no longer wish to use the glass, the euro will be returned. The housekeeping department works hard to provide everyone with a clean space, and the rooms are not released to any guest until they have been checked by the housekeeper and we are surprised by this fact as the sofa bed rubs against the floor so it is not possible that there could have been forgotten shoes. Customer satisfaction is the most important thing for us and we hope that you will give us a second chance in the future to offer you an experience more in line with your expectations. Thank you for your feedback. Yours sincerely, All the Villa del Mar team

We spent a week at the Ville del Mar with our two daughters, son in law and granddaughter. The staff in all areas were friendly and efficient. We asked for rooms near each other and were actually given adjoining rooms so that was perfect. We arrived before check in time but our rooms were ready so we were very happy about that. The minibar was well stocked with a bottle of cava, beers and soft drinks and was included (not replenished). On our last night we were left a small bottle of cava and some chocolates which was a lovely touch. Our rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed when required. My granddaughter made a mess on the bedsheet and it was changed without us having to ask. My daughter and son in law had an issue with a drains smell in their room but it was dealt with quickly. The hotel was clean.
The food in the restaurant was good - there was plenty of choice each night for dinner, but there was no separate children's food and this is the first time we have seen this on an all inclusive holiday. There was a sign saying to ask for any special diet or childrens food, but we didn't feel the need to do that. Food and drinks wise, we had two other negative points - the snacks were out all day so the food got dry, and the cocktails are ready mixed from a bottle with lemonade etc added - not the best. But the sangria was lovely and you could have a bottle of wine per two people each night.
Other reviews have mentioned the cold pool - yes it wasn't warm but I had a perfectly nice swim in it. In any case there is a rather large sea right opposite the hotel, which I also swam in.
We didn't go to the evening entertainment so can't comment on that. The baby enjoyed the ballpond and my daughters and I enjoyed the spa (If you stay for 7 nights you get an hour in the spa for 5 euro to cover the cost of the slippers and a hat). We were lucky enought to have the spa to ourselves. The sea view from the spa pool is beautiful.
The area is great - a lovely promenade with plenty of bars and resaurants. The Old Town is a 7 minute walk away. The beach is over the road and there is a boardwalk on the beach, or you can walk on the prom. There is a succession of little children's playgrounds on the prom which our granddaughter loved. You can call a taxi at reception if you want to go further afield and we never waited more than 5 minutes for one to arrive. We found the buses very confusing!
One thing the hotel lacks is comfy seating. There are two small sofa sets in reception but apart from that it's dining chairs and tables or sun loungers - not really anywhere to relax inside.
We had a lovely time but, for the lack of seating and children's food plus the ready made cocktails, I rate this hotel very good instead of excellent.

Overall not a bad hotel, however there’s just a couple of niggles that would stop me booking again.

The good:

Staff on the whole were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff couldn’t do enough for you.
The food for a 4* AI was as good as can be for a buffet. Sometimes the labelling of food was poor though, especially for vegetarians.
The drinks were good, all branded labels.
The top floor chill out bar has amazing views but could maybe benefit from some easy listening music.
Location is spot on with the beach being literally across the road. A 5-10 min walk into the old town as well.

The not so good:

The pool and the pool area is too small for the size of the hotel. The double cabana style loungers are nice but the don’t make good use of the space. You need to be waiting to be let in the pool area by 08:45 to be able to get one. It could probably do with having some single beds in there as well to fill some of the gaps in the space. This did cause a few problems on the occasional days when people couldn’t get a lounger. There are other lounger by the kids pool and on the top floor chill out bar as well.
They also started to enforce the 30 min rule for loungers whilst we were there. Which sometimes made it difficult when getting breakfast or lunch.
The animacion programme was limited and was in the basement function room.
I knew about the lack of balconies before I booked and I thought I could live with that. However after this stay I wouldn’t book anywhere without a balcony again. It made it difficult to dry towels and swimwear. It also made the room feel smaller as the sofa was being used as a bed and with no balcony to sit on it became cramped.
There is a pool towel scheme whereby you pay a €10 deposit per towel at the beginning of your holiday and you can get a fresh towel everyday. However if you use your own you will struggle to dry it.

We have just returned from what can only be described as a Fabulous stay at the Villa Del Mar. Things got off to a very good start when we were welcomed (by Marta who is very special) with lovely Cocktails upon arrival. The check-in process was seamless and without fault and despite our room not being ready (we arrived early) they were very accommodating and pointed us in the direction of the restaurant for us to have lunch while we waited. Our room was exactly as we had pictured it and again a warm welcome awaited with a bottle of Cava, 2 cans of lager, 2 cans of juice and some chocolates in our fridge. We had a sea view room with a jacuzzi (8th Floor) and frankly it was worth every penny! Waking up to the view of the Mediterranean was truly amazing and is a fantastic selling point for this hotel. You are literally across a quiet road from the beautiful Poniente Beach. Beds & Parasols are 6 euros each for the full day. Another great selling point for this hotel is the Spa - we enjoyed a free hour as part of our holiday and it was lovely to have this area to ourselves (Floor 9) with magnificent views and a truly lovely place to relax and unwind. We had a relaxing massage while we were there which cost 30 euros for 30 minutes which is very reasonable. The entertainment at the hotel was varied and of a very good standard. Our hotel was not at capacity while we were there so there were occasions where it was quite quiet however this did not stop the entertainers from giving 100%. The food was varied and plentiful and the restaurant never felt overcrowded. We were all inclusive and every meal was great. The main selling point of this hotel are the staff. They are friendly, helpful and extremely hard working to ensure that your holiday is special. We can honestly say we didn't miss having a balcony once and the all of the other positives more than compensated. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and cannot wait to return. Villa Del Mar is ideally located in the Old Town - for a Fabulous holiday don't look anywhere else.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Villa Del Mar.

There are positives about this hotel, which I feel are important to share:

Arrival:
Check in was quick and easy and fortunately we were able to get in our room straight away, but we were prepared to wait and I think this depends on availability.

The reception area was nice and welcoming, with 8 leather seats.

Room
We paid for a sea view room and we were not disappointed. The view from these rooms are absolutely stunning and you won’t be disappointed with the view at all.
The room was a good size and thoroughly cleaned during our stay.
On arrival we also had a bottle of cava in the room, which was nice.
The shower is very powerful and water is lovely and hot.
The cleaners were friendly.

Food
We were all inclusive and on no occasion did we have to wait for a seat.
The food itself was of good quality and very varied. If you’re vegetarian, then you are also well catered for.
Again, this area of the hotel was very clean.

Drink
Cocktails appeared to be included with the all inclusive option and the spirits looked to be branded.
Beer was on tap or bottled. Wine was from a bottle rather than tap.

Location
Great location with old town Benidorm just a short walk away.
A majority of restaurants appeared to be open and busy. This created a lovely atmosphere.

So here some things we didn’t like.

Room
Yes the view is amazing, but the noise is horrendous. Bin men empty the wheelie bins every night at midnight.
The noise from other guests leaving and arriving is so loud. Even though our window was closed shut, we were woken by a child at 4.30am on the beach, clearing waiting to be collected to go home.
Another morning we were woken by children going to have breakfast. We were at the very end of a corridor so goodness knows what it would have been like nearer the stairwell.

The shower is so powerful that it goes over the bathroom floor which is very dangerous and slippery.

The ‘Entertainment room’
Is in the basement, no atmosphere and poor drink service.
It didn’t start until late, which was very poor.

There is no where to sit to just relax. The 8 seats in reception get taken very quickly and in the evening, the outdoor seating area is too cold out of season.

Dear Scenic39932241016, On behalf of the entire team at the Hotel Villa del Mar we would like to thank you for your cooperation in providing us with the evaluation of your stay. Everyone has different tolerance levels to sounds in and around the hotel. In many cases this depends on a guest’s home environment as a guest who lives in a quiet suburb or the country will not have the same perception as a guest who lives on a noisy street or close to traffic noise or in city centre. The Llum de Coral lounge is open daily from 9am and guests can use the lounge to sit and relax at any time until midnight. Entertainment like food is subjective and often down to personal taste. We regret to learn that certain aspects of your stay were not to your satisfaction. However, we would like to thank you for your comments, as they are our most valuable means of improvement. We take them into account with the sole objective of offering the best service possible. Kind Regards The Management Team Hotel Villa del Mar

Yes it does. There is a bar on the sun terrace, one down on the ground floor and one in the basement area where the entertainment is. Have a fanatic time. I'm jealous 😀

No, sorry there are very few hotels in which you can smoke inside. Perhaps choose a hotel which has balconies where they may allow smoking.
