Great Hotel..... Great Location - Very friendly and helpful staff. Overlooks Oriente Plaza and the Opera Metro station. A very short walk to the Royal Palace, gardens and Cathedral. Close to good shopping streets (in fact walk outside the door and you are on one) and easy walking to a lot of Madrid's tourist highlights. Rooms were lovely with small balconette overlooking plaza (which had a little market), although it was quiet when the windows were shut. Great vibe! Nice little cafe next door, laundrette close by. Better than some of the '5 star' accommodation we were allocated during the previous tour. Highly Recommended!!

The hotel was a little tricky to find, but the location cannot be beat! The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. We were on the 3rd floor with a small balcony overlooking the plaza. There was a little bit of street noise, but I've started to travel with a very compact white noise speaker and that perfectly compensated for any disruptions that may have happened overnight. I would definitely stay here again

I've just returned from my second stay at Hostal Oriente. The location is fantastic, being opposite the Opera Metro station and close to many sights and good restaurants. The staff were the real highlight however - every person I met was extremely kind and friendly. My room was spotlessly clean and comfortable but a little noisy and my sleep was initially disrupted, but I bought some earplugs from a local pharmacy and that fixed the issue. I would really recommend, and will definitely stay again on my next visit 💛

My partner and I travelled around the August bank holiday and found this gem. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony and it was so lovely to sit at the veranda with the doors open with a cold beer and watch the bustle of the Opera square. I can't remember what room number we were in but I think it was the first from reception. I don't remember it ever being too noisy as we didn't spend too much time in the room, but I do agree with other reviewers that you can hear a murmur of voices between rooms, not loud enough to bother me or disturb sleep however. The room itself was large, had a desk, tv, fridge, air con, wardrobe with hangars, and a few chairs. Also had black out blinds and bed side lamps. The bathroom had towels which were changed daily, soaps and a hair dryer. It was all very clean on arrival and was cleaned and made up daily. Location is great. Right on the Opera plaza (with a metro station) and just behind the palace. Gran Via is a few minutes walks, and everything else is within walking distance. There are great eateries in all directions including traditional and modern in a variety of cuisines. Transport links are all around, however we didn't use them apart from going to and from the airport. Can't comment much on staff but check in was quick and simple and email communications beforehand were easy. We booked direct with the hotel and got an awesome deal - 256 euros for 4 nights (just over £50 a night). They speak good English. There was always someone at the reception desk. Can't really fault the place, I had a great time and would come back!

Visited for 4 days in the week, don't let the name Hostel fool you,its a clean, newly refurbished hostel ,with tasteful furnishings, clean, adequately designed rooms, ,Can be a little noisy ,but that's due to its city centre location, ,Near the Opera metro ,a lift up to the hostel entrance, so no problems if stairs are tricky, There is no facility for breakfast, but very reasonable cafes nearby to partake if wanted,

The location of the Hostal Oriente was fantastic. It was right in front of the Opera and 20m to the Opera Metro station. It's located above McDonald's and a pizza parlor and on a busy walk street with shops all around. It's an easy walk to Plaza Mayor, the Gran Via and central to walking to just about all the sites of Madrid. The hotel is located on half of the building and sharing with other residences. The hotel was clean and well kept. My room was a single, so a bit small but very comfortable. The window opens up a central opening between buildings, so not a thing to see, but kept the room quiet. One issue is that you can clearly hear the slamming doors from the other hotel guests. Also, you must pay 1 Euro each time you lock the safe.

Was so glad to come across this gem of a hostel. The rooms are all you could need with comfy beds, air con and private bathroom which was all decorated to modern standards. Staff very friendly and willing to help with recommendations and navigating the local area. The real icing on the cake though was the location, right in the heart of Madrid’s beautiful city centre, next to the Teatro Real. Very central but just far enough away from the Puerto del Sol etc. that there was very minimal noise when trying to get to sleep! Only complaint would be, as other reviewers have mentioned, the thinness of the walls as I could hear the guy next door snoring!! Such great value for the price I paid especially in the height of summer.

I had a wonderful stay at hostal oreinte. It is located at the heart of Madrid. We found it very convenient to walk to all touristy sites. They also have a 24 hour receptionist so you can check in at anytime. But best of all, there is an Air-condition in the room!

I'm baffled by the reviews this property has, unless I happened to be in the one terrible room of the hotel. Upon entering the room, I noticed the shower and bathroom hosting a thriving mold colony. Then, one of the pillows on my bed had blood on it, and not as though it had been laundered. There was.....texture to it. Repulsive! Finally, my major complaint centres around the lack of sound-proofing in the room. Street noise is something I can handle and would never fault a hotel for. What was a problem was feeling like my next door neighbour was in my room with me. At 2am on my second night, he returned to his room with a friend and they had an argument that lasted for an hour. As a single woman, I didn't feel comfortable confronting two men alone. I repeatedly called the front desk and when they did answer, they hung up on me. The other problem was that my room was in a corner up against a public bathroom. This bathroom was used CONSTANTLY during the night, having a noisy fan and extremely loud flushing sound which sounded as though it may as well have been in my room. I can only imagine people were using it to refrain from waking up the other people in their own room. That night I had at most 1-2 hours of sleep, as the gentleman in the room next to me began to snore and it completely filled my room. Upon checkout, the man at the desk said he wasn't there the night before and couldn't help me. I have never felt the need to review a hotel before, I would go out of my way to not only never return here again but to actively campaign against anyone else staying there as well. The location was excellent.

Clean, nice size room, good desk service, right in the heart of Madrid - close to the Ópera station (metro). Right in the heart of great shopping area and close to lots of good restaurants. Not far from the Royal Palace.
