The new Barceló Torre de Madrid hotel is located in one of the most iconic buildings in the capital: the Torre de Madrid. Designed by Jaime Hayón, it is the perfect, most comfortable place to discover Madrid, thanks to its great location in the Plaza de España itself, just a short walk away from the Gran Vía with its vast selection of theatres, tapas bars and shops. Its 258 rooms are fully equipped, combinating modern and sophisticated comfort to perfection. Designed to guarantee the very highest standards of quality, these rooms provide everything necessary to satisfy the most discerning guests, whether travelling for business or pleasure. This unique and exclusive building that houses the hotel is iconic in the city, not only thanks to its magnificent location but also because, for a few years, it held the record for the tallest concrete building in the world. It has first class facilities, a sophisticated bar on the ground floor, meeting rooms to host all types of events and restaurants where you can sample exquisite cuisine. There is a spa with a gym for those wanting to keep fit, plus the added benefit of the city's fantastic range of cultural delights. The Barceló Torre de Madrid aims to become a leading hotel in the Spanish capital, the perfect base from which to experience Madrid in a different way.

Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced, collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping spot where the major Spanish clothing and department store chains are less busy than their downtown counterparts, and there is an array of casual dining options to choose from. Check out nearby outdoor spaces such as the lushly planted Plaza de España to the south, which is often filled with craft stalls. To the west of Arguelles is the giant Parque Oueste, a calm and picturesque park with its own Egyptian temple.

Good location, plenty to do within walking distance. Great breakfast buffet, comfortable rooms and amenities. We stayed for three nights, one on our own and two with a tour group. This review requires a minimum of 200 characters so I am typing all of this irrelevant information

"I always ask for highest floor, and away from elevators. The hotels then know that I am a discriminating traveler."

"The higher you go, the better the views. 8th floor will get more spa/pool/gym traffic up and down the halls."
