Detailed Reviews
You enter the hotel from the busy Plaça de Catalunya and immediately it’s calm and quiet. Lovely stylish decor. Very professional welcome at the check in desk. We were given complimentary drinks on arrival (a bottle of champagne was later delivered unexpectedly to our room!) and we were given a room upgrade free of charge. The room itself was great with nice view of the Plaça itself. Superb shower. Massive very comfortable bed. The breakfast is really good (although a little pricey). Just eat as much as you can!! We would definitely recommend this hotel and if we visit Barcelona again we will be staying here. It’s superb central position is a definite plus.

Nice hotel with a central location. We got a room that overlooked the Placa de Catalunya and it was worth it! I think it's one of the best locations since you can get to alot by foot. The gothic quarter and la rambla is right next to the hotel. We also were visiting during the Gracia Festival which we walked to and enjoyed all the decorations in the neighborhood.
Alot of great restaurants and shops nearby. We also rented bikes and rode to the beach and through nearby neighborhoods.
The other great thing about this place is that the bus stop is across the street from the hotel. We were able to take a bus to/from the airport with ease, saving us money on a taxi fare!

We had a wonderful weekend in Barcelona and the hotel was perfect! We arrived early in the morning after a red-eye flight and the hotel staff stored our bags and gave us bottles of water so that we could go explore the city. Olivia Plaza was one of the few places in Barcelona that was able to accommodate three people in one room. It was well located in the city - walkable to many of the places we wanted to see and close to public transit when needed. We had wonderful drinks in the outdoor garden several times when we were there and the breakfast was delicious. The staff were all so friendly and the room was clean and modern. Highly recommended!

Plaza Olivia Hotel is in a great location. Airport and Tourist buses stop across the hotel so you will just have to walk for about 5 minutes or less. There is also access to the Metro nearby.
We stayed here during Valentines 2020. Check-in was quick, but both key cards did not work. We were given a room in the 5th floor so we had to call them through our mobile phone to let them know since we were too tired to go back to the reception.
Nothing special about the room itself. We particularly like their overhead showers, though something must be in their water that made it difficult to get rid of the slipperiness of soap. In fact, there was a note posted on the doors of all hotel guests regarding work being done on the water system scheduled the afternoon of the day we checked out.
The issue we had with our stay is the fact that we were given a room with a depressing view as evidenced by the image I included. Anyone who reads all the positive reviews thinking how amazing this hotel is and assuming you would get views of Plaza Catalunya or surrounding buildings would definitely feel deceived. We booked our room through the online travel company (Ex*****) weeks in advance. We immediately called reception and asked if we can change and or upgrade room. We are ready to pay extra just to get a much better room view, but supposedly they were fully booked. If we only knew Olivia Plaza Hotel would give us the room we got, we would have stayed somewhere else!
To those who plan on staying at this hotel, call ahead and make sure not to get Room 511! Even if you open the windows, you won’t get fresh air as the room is enclosed inside the building so you’ll end up smelling food from their restaurant! If you want views of Plaza Catalunya, make sure it is specified, otherwise, you might end up in room 511!
There are plenty hotels in Plaza Catalunya. I highly suggest to stay somewhere else. Even their highly rated restaurant (Nineteen Restaurant) were mostly empty during our stay.

We go to Barcelona once each two years. We love it and for once decided to stay in a different hotel. Usually stay in Olivia Balmes (sister hotel). Frankly, very very disappointed. The pics don’t of the site are far from what you get. The size being substantially smaller than shown. The hotel simply cries for a generous refurbishment. Part of the shower ceiling was broken. And next to it had been burned. The safe didn’t have the “*” sign to lock the safe so couldn’t lock it. The concierge never contacted me despite my complaint about the size of the room and will to pay more for a larger room. Interestingly, one of the times we returned from the street, we heard the receptionist proposing someone else to change the room to a larger one. It was out last night so I simply gave up. Finally, there is one noise from the corridor (though not much) + water in the pipes + street and the cleaning if definitely good: left a bunch of hair of my wife in the shower next to the soap + the compartment above the save Gad plenty of rubbish. Oh, almost forgot good luck to find the right parking area in the -2!!! This is maybe a has been place. But not the right one.
The positive: great location.
Would I come back? Guess…

I visited the hotel with my family. the Hotel main advantage is his perfect location at the beginning of the Gothic area, the rooms are modern but small.
we were unlucky since since both rooms had no external view or window but a glass overlooking the lobby and almost facing other rooms doors so we were obliged to keep out curtains closed most of the time.
the other disadvantage is the open sink inside the room with makes it messy and if one is awake the roommate will for sure be awake also.
as for the closet there is a very limited open hangers at the entrance.
the breakfast was so smelly with very limited choices "eggs and ham" ,it is better to have breakfast outside since many options are available at walking distance.
the staff are polite and helpful, and again the main advantage is the location.

We spent 3 nights here and we really enjoy evertyhing with this hotel. The location, the staff, and the pillows are superb. Very quiet. When we arrive they offer us free cava and we also asked for a twobedroom instead of the doubleroom we booked and there were no problem to change roomtype.
We also had late check out for free. Book your room at their website, you got the best rate!

This hotel is located in Placa de Catalunya. We arrived from Barcelona airport on the Aerobus, which cost 7.25 Euros per person, the stop is conveniently located close by to the hotel and only a few minutes walk. On arrival to the hotel we were offered a welcome drink, which was lovely. We were lucky enough that our room was ready on arrival, after a long international flight.
The room: The room was a good size and there was complimentary water on the desk. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the room was lacking. There were hairs on the ground in the bathroom and alot of dust on surfaces. There were also flying insects, I'm not sure where they were coming from. Guests in nearby rooms were extremely loud during early hours of the morning in the hallways. On another note, the air conditioning was great and worked well.
The breakfast: We paid an extra 20 Euros per person, per day for buffet breakfast. The breakfast was lovely, with cereal, fresh fruit, pastries, hot food (bacon, eggs), yoghurt, freshly squeezed orange juice (amazing!), tea and coffee. Well worth it and very convenient. Breakfast was from 7am to 11am.
The lounge (free corner): On floor L, there was a private space for guests to relax. This room had complimentary coffee, champagne, water and a selection of food (usually some cakes, sometimes sandwiches, and salted chips) available. This space was open from 9am to 7pm.
Security: There was a security guard often on the front door. However, I was concerned that anyone could go up the hotel lifts as they weren't limited to room key access. Also the wifi is not password protected which I found unnerving that it wasn't a secure connection.
On checkout we used the Freenow app to get from the hotel to Barcelona Sants Station, it was a taxi that picked us up and it cost us 10.9 Euros to the station.

Dear AussieOzOz, We would like to thank you for dedicating your time to write a detailed review as this one. It makes us happy to see that the location of the Hotel was good and convenient for you and you could benefit from an early check in, I'm sure it was appreciated after your long flight. We are concerned about the cleaning issues you experienced, this is totally not up to our cleaning standards and we will take the proper actions to assure that things like those do not happen again. I would like to apologize in behalf of our whole team. I'ts a pleasure to know that you enjoyed our daily breakfast buffet served at the Nineteen Restaurant as well as our Lounge. Our guests' security is something we really care about and we take note of your suggestions for an improvement. We will be delighted to host you again if you ever come back to the city. Best regards, Claudia Rodríguez

We stayed in March for 5 nights with my wife and teen-agers (grandson and daughter). Excellent location, in Plaza Catalunya, near every shop and restaurant! Very spacious rooms. Nice breakfast, and they will accommodate special request like gluten free. Friendly reception well-staffed all day around. Coming back this week for a short stay and latter with all the family for a City break before a cruise. The small charge for a room viewing the Plaza is very well worth it !!

Barcelona is the last stop of our European trip, which after a week of exploring Switzerland we were looking forward to visit this vibrant city. We chose this hotel for its location and close proximity to most of the sites that we planned to visit. After a rather quick cab ride from the airport, we arrived at this centrally located hotel; the check in was smooth and the staff are friendly and efficient. Fransisco the concierge is courteous and helpful with our request. Our superior room #907 with terrace is located on the 9th floor; it’s spacious with king size bed and separate tub and shower booth. The terrace has a panoramic view of the Plaça de Catalunya; it is indeed magnificent. The breakfast buffet is adequate and staff are courteous and professional. We were able to visit most of the landmarks on foot and other forms of transportation methods are nearby if needed. The choice of restaurants are endless; La Rambla is mere 50 feet away from this hotel. Housekeeping is extremely efficient and we are impressed each time we returned to our immaculate room. We are so glad that we chose this excellent premises in this wonderful city. Further, our compliments to the management for the well trained staff that provided its guests with an above par service.

Dear traceyswift68,
We have two different kind of views, facing Plaça de Catalunya or the Gothic neighborhood. Those rooms have a window with views but, for security reasons, is not possible to be opened.
We also have internal rooms, wich are the Standard ones and have a window although is facing the Hotel lobby with no views.
You have a lift that goes to all the floors and you can also use the escalators.
I hope this information is helpful for you, in case you have any doubt or you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We have Superior rooms with Terrace facing Plaça de Catalunya, if you don't find them available for the dates you are looking for is probably because they are already booked.
