Renovated modernist building, Catalonia Catedral Hotel is located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. The hotel is by the Cathedral, Plaça Sant Jaume and the unavoidable Portal de l’Àngel. After a day of shopping, cultural visits or just walk down city enjoys a drink in the lobby bar or the international cuisine in the warm restaurant or just rest of the bustle of the downtown without leaving it.

We originally booked a different hotel of the same chain, sister property located 500m away. When we arrived, they said they had to cancel our reservation because apparently on the day of arrival they had some problem with the bank card issuer. They emailed us, they said, when we were on the plane to Barcelona. However, having apologized because that hotel was fully booked already, they rebooked us at the Catedral hotel. The very polite bellboy walked us and our suitcases there, ensured we were checked in quickly and escorted us to the rooms. The property turned out to be a beautifully restored historical building, peculiarly maintained. We didn't reserve breakfast, but after having registered for a loyalty program we received a welcome glass of cava, which was very nice after a long trip. We were also checked in early - it was just around noon. Staff was very polite and helpful, recommendations of local restaurants, assistance with taxis etc. The only nuisance was the evening turndown service - they tended to come when we were resting after a day of walking the city and before heading to dinner, and one response from the locked room wasn't explanatory enough that we didn't want the maid in at the moment))) In any case, a very pleasant experience, and for sure the hotel is recommended!

We stayed in this hotel for a 2 nite period with breakfast included. We chose a superior room with a bath and shower and we were given an amazing large room with a lot of space and great amenities. Altho we originally booked a balcony as this is special to me on Spain trips we were told on arrival that because of the buildings historical nature the balconies do not open, but the lovely lady receptionist gave us a room with windows that opened and our room was in a nice quiet corner of the hotel on the 3rd floor.

The bathroom has everything you need, a nice wide deep bath with showers and a seperate large walk-in shower and plenty of space to put toiletries.

The room itself had a very large comfortable bed ( we slept so soundly) , mini fridge etc, chaise longue and a big desk space including a large wardrobe and safe and it was so calm and peaceful.

Breakfast was amazing, a very good selection of hot and cold food, friendly staff and well stocked with great quality food. The staff at the hotel make it what it is, they are fantastic and all deserve much praise from their management. The lady receptionist that checked us in was very helpful. Also a mention to Alejandro (I think that was his name) the young man who took our case up with us to the room and also the male receptionist with a beard who stored our cases for us so we could look around more as we had to check out at 12pm but had an evening flight.

Outside the hotel are pedestrian areas, plenty of places to eat and shop and interesting places to visit. The chocolate shop opposite the hotel is amazing (Torrons Vicens). The Cathedral is around the corner, and just past the cathedral a fantastic museum, ( well worth a visit at €5 each ) to see the original city ruins. Sagrada Familia of course is a must and can be visited via Jaume metro nearby and is a few stops away. We pre-booked our tickets a week before and it was packed inside and out when we visited at 12:00 on a weekday but incredible.
In the Jaume metro area on the corner is an amazing traditional sweet and cake shop, beautiful cakes.
Basilica de Santa Maria church is a short walk and worth paying extra to walk up the stone curved tower to walk up on to the roof and see great views of Barcelona and the coast.
The market is a must and La Rambla is a short walk away, close enough to get to but far enough away to be out of the busy area.

We thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone and the Catalonia brand is extremely good having stayed at Catalonia Born in the past.

Thank you for the lovely memories, this was my 4th time to Barcelona but my boyfriends 1st trip to Spain and it was made very special and we both had a lovely calming, relaxing time and thoroughly loved it !

Based on reviews on TA we decided to stay at this fine hotel after a 10 day cruise ending in Barcelona. We had a great time in this great city and the hotel was truly outstanding. Location: the CC is located at a terrific location (Bari Gotic) walking distance to many of the best sights and restaurants. We could not think of a finer location to see Barcelona on foot or in close proximity of tourist or public transportation and many great places to dine.

Staff: We classify the hotel as a boutique hotel with nicely sized rooms with very nice amenities. The housekeeping staff is absolutely excellent, they are hard working and will keep your room in immaculate condition during your stay. The desk staff are very helpful and will be glad to help you with directions to sites or restaurants and assist in obtaining necessary transportation to airports or tourist sites. The bartenders and wait staff are personable, engaging and seemed truly concerned with us enjoying our stay.

Food: The breakfast is truly outstanding. CC has anything you could possibly want for breakfast including eggs, meats, waffles, quality pastries, fruits, bacon, sausages and breads. Two coffee machines which will make you any type of coffee you will want. There are a number of fresh fruit and juice choices. We had a rainy evening one of our nights and did not want to leave the hotel and also decided to dine in the hotel on our last evening to get ready for an early departure. The hotel dinner food was very great and the service was also outstanding. We chose sole rather than the traditional tapas that we had had at many of the Barcelona eateries and the presentation and service could not have been better. The service, food and wine prices were excellent.

Pool area: We did not make use of the small outdoor pool area because we spent most of our days sightseeing in this enchanting city but on our last day we went up to the outdoor pool and bar area there and had cocktails. These areas are fabulous and the bartender was truly engaging. It is a great outdoor space on the 4th floor of the hotel that is a fun place for great cocktails. We had wished we had stopped there for happy hour before dinner on more than one occasion. If you are a sun worshipper this area is quite nice for a boutique hotel. The outdoor bartender was a true professional who was a lot of fun.

Price point and rooms : In our opinion the price point is great for a truly quality hotel with great service. The rooms while being in the center of all the action are very quiet and the beds extremely comfortable and the service exceeds the value

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the CC and this will be our home when we come back to this great city. We would highly recommend to TA readers, we can't wait to stay there again. This will be our new home when we come to Barcelona.

We had a great 3 night stay, we were in room 309 and the hotel is quiet we weren’t disturbed at all - rooms have everything you need, safe, slippers, toiletries and a coffee machine. Location is fantastic too! The pool area is clean and tidy but the pool itself is very small. The only issue we had was the room key - it never worked, we were at reception at least 2 times a day asking to reprogram which was a bit of a faff. We would absolutely return again!

This is a lovely little hotel just steps from the Barcelona Cathedral. The surrounding streets are interesting, charming: twisting mixes of medieval stone, museums, and modern shops. You can walk to Picasso museum, Placa de Catalunya, Ramblas, and the cathedral, of course. The room was large and modern with excellent service. Very nice breakfast.
I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars because of a few, admittedly picky things. We had a couple of minor issues with the front desk, both of which may have been our fault because we were too last minute, but in both cases I wish they had told me that. One was when we asked for dinner recommendations for that evening. All of the nearby restaurants they recommended were unable to seat us, and we were starving by the time we found something. The other was one morning when we asked for a taxi, which we had been told upon arrival that they could do. We had a timed entrance to Park Guell. They were unable to get one and told us to walk down to a main street; no big deal, but we were walking 12-15 miles per day so saving any steps was our preference. (BTW, taxis are tricky here and some did not want to drive around the winding back streets to drop at hotel door...the price you pay for such a picturesque location).
The other minor issue was the rooftop pool. We usually wouldn't care about that, coming from a warm climate full of pools and beaches, but the heat was pretty intense and we thought the view would be nice for a drink, maybe a quick dip. The pool area is quite compact and when we got off the elevator, everyone literally stared at us. It was bizarrely uncomfortable. We walked down the row of chairs, spotted 2 empty ones, asked if they were being used and was told they were, that people were coming back. It was just really unwelcoming, with very little shade and not enough room. So we left!

Can't say enough about the facilities and staff at this wonderful hotel. We were allowed to check in early after an eight hour red eye. We were treated to a beautiful room overlooking the Gothic center. The room was kept in perfect condition. The staff was WONDERFUL. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. They were so friendly, offering suggestions for dinner, helping with reservations for tours and arranging transportation on our last day. Because it was centrally located, we were able to walk to most places and take the metro located close by. On our last evening, we had the good fortune to have the Carnival festivities parade by the hotel. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful week!

Hi
We stayed at the hotel for 6 days.
From the first moment we arrived we were greeted with a smile and checked to see if we needed help with anything.
Much to our delight we didn't go wrong in terms of location the hotel was perfect !! Beautiful and comfortable rooms. All our request is welcome.
In the room they sent us champagne and fruit for my husband's birthday celebrations.
Breakfast was rich and delicious and highly recommend ordering in advance and not giving up.
All the staff we contacted to check in and ask were very kind.
We especially wanted to point out the stunning guy Adria in the reception we sat with each morning for explanations and recommendations Wow what a patience the charming guy always has with a smile and also very accurate in everything.
In conclusion, we highly recommend this hotel by all means the most perfect choice for accommodation in Barcelona

The hotel is beautiful! The staff are always willing to go that extra mile for you especially Sergio who took a keen interest in what we spoke about and remembered what we had spoken to him about previously. He ensured we met one of the local tour guides in a different location than usual. He went that extra mile for us! The staff in general are all very pleasant and always keen to ask how your day was etc. As it was a trip for my birthday, I had emailed the hotel prior to our stay requesting a double room for our superior terrace room and much to our surprise the hotel gifted us with a bottle of champagne and some chocolates as a birthday gift! They really were amazing! Would stay with the hotel again in a heartbeat!
