We love staying in the Parador each time we stop at Salamanca on our way down to the Algarve. The rooms are wonderful, staff are professional and friendly and food is very good. We always sleep well there and feel refreshed for the last leg of our journey.
I was somewhat put off by reviews of the modern architecture of this parador but the location was excellent, especially as we had a car and wanted a pool. The view of the old town of Salamanca from our room, the terrace bar, and pretty much any where else in the hotel was gorgeous -- in the early morning, during the day, in the evening, and during the night. Altho' we were out of town, the 25-minute walk along a nice path and over a bridge was pleasant. The room was spacious, the bed and linens were very comfy, the bathroom was modern, and everything (including the remote control and hangars!) was sanitized. The breakfast was fine, in our opinion, but the dinner menu was somewhat limited (we ate there two nights, as we didn't want to drive and there were no other restaurants nearby). The front desk staff were wonderful! We learned while we were there that the Covid test required for our return flight to the US would not be available at the Madrid airport (they were booked out for weeks), and our Spanish was not proficient enough to find out by phone where we could get one in Salamanca, so the staff made calls for us and found a clinic where we could get tested and get results back within 12 hours, and gave us detailed instructions on how to get there. I will seek out paradors on our future trips!…
This Parador is very pretty and convenient but for what we paid for the room and breakfast for 2 weeks we should have gotten much better service. I found it off putting that I had to say Buenos Dias to every staff member (except for the maids) as they never made an effort to say hello to me or my family or to ask if everything was ok. We felt completely ignored. The breakfast service was a disaster. So expensive and a ridiculous amount of time to wait to be served. We often didn't get out of the dining room until almost 11am after arriving at around 9:30am for breakfast. A terrible waste of time when you are on vacation and want to see the sights. One nice but odd touch was that 3 out of the 15 days that we stayed, there was that a tray of fruit and a bollte of water delivered to our room. We never knew if we should expect it or not. We became disappointed when it stopped. Very haphazard.…
Very good hotel except for the breakfast (quality of products like bread and coffee) and the pool (very nice but much too cold) Some of the staff at the breakfast wern't friendly at all. They were running around and not efficient at all. You have to ask for every simple thing like butter, mermalade, bread,..
This parador is not hosted in an historical building but is very well located to visit the historical town center. In extra, rooms offer a view on the old town which is quite impressive. After a wrong beginning (my room was used and not cleaned after the leaving of the previous clients), the staff made his best to solve that problem and I could enjoy the rest of my journey without any other problem. I should recommend this hotel and I would stay there again if I have the opportunity to come again in Salamanca !
