Hotel AF Valle Orotava has earned a reputation for its advantageous location close to local hotspots and the rooftop pools that boast remarkable views, according to guest reviews. While the rooms are celebrated for their modern cleanliness, concerns about noise and privacy have been voiced by some visitors. The hotel's overall cleanliness is frequently commended, yet the gym facilities have faced criticism. Opinions on value and atmosphere are mixed; the hotel's vibe and additional service costs have not met every guest's expectations, despite many finding it a comfortable stay. Staff friendliness is often highlighted, though service can vary in attentiveness.

Great Hotel, stayed here for 15 days and I am very happy if not ecstatic about the value for money I got out of it. To be honest I am amazed by some of the bad reviews regarding the swimming facilities around the hotel; you got 3x amazing beaches (Playa Maria Jimenez, Chica and del Castillo) at literally 10 min. walking distance; Playa de Martianez is a great surfing spot (you can rent board and wet suite at the beach) and as someone that lives in Northern Europe and that doesn't get to experience the Ocean every day it's a "One in a lifetime" experience! Huge waves to play with (I finally know how it feels to be washed up on shore by a huge oceanic wave, my advise: don't do it! LOL) and beautiful black warm volcanic sand.
You can also swim at the harbor and dive from the walls with the locals; along the coast there are natural and artificial pools (Go and see the ones in Punta Brava) Coming back to the facilities at the hotel; just fantastic, I came in flying on the 19th as the fires were still raging on the Teide, this created a huge ash fallout al over some parts of the island, the sky pools closed for a day and I was amazed by how quickly everything was cleaned up considered there were actually chunks of ash all over town. The rooms are modern, clean and well equipped (there are some things here and there that I am willing to overlook because like all people that have experience living next to the ocean or sea I know that are some things you just cannot get rid off and I'll keep it to that) The Staff was exquisite and efficient my special thanks goes out to Laura!

Went for 2 weeks with my son as last minute family crisis meant husband could not go. We had a twin room but bathroom had glass door and walls, so every time we went bathroom or had to get dressed, one of us had to wait on the balcony until the other had finished in the bathroom. Great location as close to everything but our room was on the 3rd floor and so noisy as almost every bus passed underneath our room and we overlooked the communal bins, so you heard restaurants dropping all their bottles at all hours, binmen emptying bins early hours every morning etc. we were told hotel was fully booked and only other room was on 4th floor next to cleaners store room and they came in extremely early every morning and would be noisy too. We were always able to get a sunbed. Give €20 deposit but got it back when you handed your towel back at end of holiday. Not any English people in the hotel, mainly Germans at that time of year. Food was virtually the same every day, we were h/b. Food was barely lukewarm and had no English descriptions, even after me speaking to chef and also to tui rep on 5 occasions. Either hotel staff ignored her or chose not to put hot plates higher than 63 degrees, but she did try to put our concerns forward as people with allergies could have had a serious reaction. The last 5 days of our holiday, we found our bedding, towels and cups from having tea/coffee were not changed/cleaned. Good central location, but food lets this hotel down.

Dear Madam, First of all I must thank you for choosing AF Valle Orotava hotel for your holidays. And I take note of your comments to work on its improvement. Glass doors of bathrooms. We are already working on it and we have more than 60% of the doors with vinyl bands to give more privacy. I hope that in the coming weeks we will have finished the entire hotel. Certainly, in this month of May we have had the hotel full and therefore there have been few options for change. However, all rooms have double glazing, so if the balcony doors are closed you should not hear the noise. We will take measures to avoid noise in the areas of cleaning staff offices. In this period, we have many different nationalities, possibly there are most Spanish guests, but we work for the best service for all guests. Regarding food, we have a weekly program approximately between 35 - 40 different products in breakfasts, dinners Our cuisine has international, regional and national dishes The hot buffets have a temperature of 85 degrees, can be seen in the thermometers of the same, and maintenance cabinets at 90º. We also have a microwave for those who want to heat their food. In the hot buffet area, we have the hot dishes at 65 º The description of the dishes in English is already set. Regarding cleaning, I will speak with our housekeeper and review the cleaning parts of the dates of your stay. In any case, I regret that you did not have information during your stay to be able to correct this incident. In any case, I put myself at your entire disposal and I hope you can return and I promise that in your next stay you can have a totally satisfactory experience. Contact me directly. Best regards

My partner and I booked a last minute holiday to Tenerife back in February, we got to the hotel and was greeted by a lovely gentleman called Jose who was very informative and handed us a map with places to visit and where to find the carnival which was being held in the town during our stay. He also booked our tickets for Loro Parque.
The room I couldn’t fault it was spotlessly clean along with the balcony. Everyday the towels were replaced and toilet roll topped up. The hairdryer in the bathroom was pretty decent, I’ve used worse.
We stayed B&B…Breakfast was good, would definitely recommend you going down before 9 or you struggle to get a table. The range of food was sufficient. I was impressed as I have a dairy allergy and they did offer almond and soya milk for your cereals. The coffee machine also could be translated into English.
The rooftop pools weren’t heated like the website states however it was that hot I was grateful for the cool water (water wasn’t freezing). The rooftop is a sun trap. You can hire towels for the loungers for a 20euro deposit which we got back at the end of everyday.
The location is great as well it’s two minute walk from the square with lots of restaurants and bars and the day trip bus stop is opposite the entrance. 15 minute walk from Loro Parque. Lovely view of Teide.
Housekeeping staff were always smiling and would greet you whilst passing in the corridors. Overall I can’t recommend this hotel enough. Can’t wait to come back and visit.

My wife and I visited this hotel in march of this year and came back for a few days in August. We were given room 422 and despite this being adjacent to the room we were in on our previous visit, there were some differences between the rooms. The bathroom only had one basin (as opposed to 2 that were in the next-door room), which we preferred as it meant there was an area for bathroom sundries etc. The shower now had frosted panels, which provided some privacy, although the toilet could still be seen through the glass partition to the room. The shower had a rain head and had plenty of hot water. This time we were provided with 2 soaps, 2 shampoos and 2 shower gels but again these were not replaced throughout our stay.
The beds were very comfortable. There was a free safe, sufficient storage space, TV with english language channels, mini-bar fridge, USB ports in the power sockets, a kettle with tea, coffee, sugar & cups, but no creamer and again these were not replaced. As before, there were no glasses in the bathroom or bedroom.
The balcony looked out on to the street and had a table and two chairs but no drying rack, but did have artificial turf on the floor.
We found the food in the evening to be adequate. There were hot fish and meat dishes and a chef was on hand to freshly fry chops and fish. There was a good salad range. There were still no labels on anything, despite this having been mentioned in several previous reviews.
Breakfast was the better meal with a good range of hot and cold options, pastries, different breads with a toaster. There was a microwave available if you wanted your food hotter.
We were fortunate enough with the weather to enjoy the sun deck on the roof. There is a bar there and towels can be obtained with a 20€ refundable deposit. However, we felt that there were insufficient sun umbrellas for the number of beds.

I hope you found this review helpful.

It was my first visit to Tenerife and flew out with my adult son for a week away from the cold UK.

We visited the hotel on a bed and breakfast basis - the rooms were spotless and the breakfast offered a great selection of hot and cold food and drinks - which filled us up for the day.

The hotel is centrally located and very close to a wealth of restaurants and bars, it is clean and modern - and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The reception staff were knowledgeable and recommended some excellent restaurants to visit, and helpfully booked day excursions for us.

The bar staff, chefs and cleaning staff always smiled and said hello, which made us feel welcome (Although sadly unlike ourselves, not all customers responded).

We paid a little extra for a room with a balcony with a view to the mountains and Mount Teide and it was the spectacular view that made our time there all the more special.

There are two heated swimming pools on the roof along with sun loungers and a bar serving food and drinks which were reasonably priced for a hotel.

The hotel rating was 4 star and I couldn't argue with that

I am (27f) a regular in Peurto de La Cruz, I come out on a solo trip every Christmas! For the last two years I have stayed in a hotel at the other end of the beach and have had a great time. I had walked past this hotel last year and it was boarded up so this year I decided to try it and I am so glad I did.

The hotel only opened a month ago so I expected some bumps in the road but absolutely everything is pristine. Firstly, the decoration from the lobby to the rooms to the rooftop pool is immaculate. Everything is finished to such a high level. The bedroom looks like it is from a magazine, and the beds are beyond comfy!

There is not a speck of dirt in the whole hotel, and you can see the cleaners working all throughout the day making sure of this.

I decided to only do bed and breakfast as I like to go out and explore in the evenings. The breakfast is okay/good - there are hot and cold options, and the pastries are fantastic!! It is not the BEST breakfast I have ever had but there are definitely enough options and enough to keep you full! Staff in the restaurant are all very attentive and make sure everything is kept topped up.

It is very close to the square where you will find lots of restaurants and bars and is also a very short walk to the beach, however with such a beautiful pool, you probably won’t need the beach too often. It is also very close to the bus station which is handy if you are a solo traveller like me and like to get around via public transport (a bus from the airport runs 4 times a day and is €9.50 I believe). The only downside if I am being honest is that some rooms face towards to bus station. Mine did not so I was fortunate and there are also three other sides of the hotel that have fab views (the sea/mount teide).

Lastly, the staff here are top tier, a personal shout out to Josè on reception who went above and beyond to make sure my check in went well and has looked after me throughout my whole trip. He completely organised my pre-departure covid test which took a lot of stress from me. He is very caring and you can tell he really loves his job! Another shout out to the lovely man who runs the pool upstairs (I did not get his name) but again, really went out of his way to look after me - he gave me his own personal towel to use when I did not have any cash to leave as a deposit for the hotel towel.

The current rating is completely unjust to this hotel and I will absolutely be staying here again!
❤️❤️

The staff are a huge credit to the hotel. Suleyma in reception booked us in and ensured that we were happy with the room she also booked us out and answered many questions that we had during our stay. She was brilliant!
The rooms are very comfortable and cater for all Nationalities. One criticism would be that there is a lack of coffee in the room and no milk. British people like milk with their tea and coffee.
The restaurant is very much a canteen affair, the staff are constant and are rushed off their feet. They are a credit to the hotel with their speed of movement, however this is not a fast food outlet, perhaps slowing down a little may put holiday makers more at ease.
The food has been mentioned before by others……..to the hotel management please get the correct equipment to keep it warm. Every single day any cooked element was below the correct temperature for breakfast it was luke warm at best. (We were only B&B so cannot comment on lunch or dinner although others have said that it is the same experience) This was raised with the chef on numerous occasions, there was clearly a communication issue!
The views from the roof top pool were outstanding and the staff here were very good at ensuring you were well catered for. The sun loungers…..could I suggest changing them to something far more comfortable or getting some cushions to go on them? This is a 4 star hotel, and this was not a 4 star pool area.
There need to be more information about facilities within the hotel in a booklet within each room. Checking out times etc were a little vague.
Overall, the hotel after a recent refurbishment is really smart. It is clean but lacks atmosphere. I don’t know how the management can change this other than enticing outsiders into what could be a superb bar area within the lobby.
The hotel is in an ideal position within PdlC for all restaurants and other places to visit. The bus depot is a few hundred metres away so really handy for trips out.

Arrived late in the evening. When checking we were told that food was waiting for us in the restaurant which was a pleasant surprise as it was after 11pm. Veronika at reception was about to leave said good night see you in the morning, which we promptly did. When greeting her we thanked her for the for the food, she asked us if we are happy, we replied of course. Response was if you are happy, I am am happy. Now that is what I call great customer service. Veronica always smiling and helpful with any questions asked thank you so much. Now I have to mention David, Samuel & Dominic these lovely guys work in the restaurant no matter how busy breakfast time was they always made sure tables were cleared and ready for new guests as it was extremely busy. Real dream team and still having time to greet. Again we cannot thank them enough, hard working and dedicated. We booked half board, normally I would expect casual dress code, but some guests looked as if they had just come from the beach/pool to have dinner. Maybe this could be changed?
Despite this hotel have been tastefully renovated may I suggest that the hair dryers are updated, the green lighting in bath & bedroom changed or covered as the room is very bright when wanting to sleep at night.
All in all we had a great time and would not hesitate to come back. Thank you Hotel AF Valle Orotava!!

This hotel is a modern recently upgraded hotel with large comfortable rooms and a large television with all the channels you will want. Ask for a Mountain View room but try and avoid the 5th floor as bar and pools are on the 6th and it has the potential for noise. We had no noise whatsoever on our 4th floor room.

Breakfasts are the same each morning and whilst it can get very busy after 9am the staff are very efficient and guests all seem to get tables without issues.

This hotel is all about location. Only a 5min walk to the main square with all its restaurants and bars and only 3 minutes to the bus station. Using the buses is simple and you can buy a one day travel card for just 10€ which you can use on as many buses and trams as you need for 24 hours. If going to Santa Cruz and La Laguna we would recommend getting the bus to La Laguna first as a lot of the shops close for siesta at 1:30pm there and then get the tram down into the heart of Santa Cruz.

Hotel AF Valle Orotava exceeded all expectations. Booked as part of a tui package and couldn't fault the experience. Seamless airport transfers to and from hotel. Front desk staff were always very helpful and friendly. Hotel had recently been renovated to a high standard so the room felt modern and clean. Room was air conditioned with a good sized balcony for relaxing in the evenings. As mentioned in other reviews, we had a slight issue with the bathroom having a glass door/window - bit awkward especially since the door also doesn't seal shut! But we were expecting this having read other reviews and still think the stay was great value for money.
The hotel is also in an excellent location for exploring, with the majority of places/restaurants we visited being within an easy walking distance. We also took advantage of the bus depot, which is 5 minutes down the road and can get you all around the island with very little hassle. The rooftop pools and bar were lovely with an amazing view, but it was a shame they weren't open later.
Would definitely recommend this hotel, ticks all the boxes!

Answer from maisymeg
Wigan, United Kingdom2,808 contributions684 helpful votes
I would say it's not really suitable as the majority of guests are Spanish couples and families and the only evening entertainment while we stayed was a keyboard player twice during the week. Also, the evening meals aren't great and if I stayed here again I'd only book B&B and go out every night which we ended up doing. If I were you wanting to stay in Pde la Cruz I'd look at H10 Tenerife Playa, which is located near the Lido and has all inclusive, nightly entertainment and many British guests.
