Lovely peaceful stay with family in Parador de La Gomera. Friendly and responsive staff, lovely rooms, great food and wine. The grounds and gardens were impressive, as was the pool and sun deck. As others have noted, the bar service in the cafeteria area is a bit hit and miss. Perhaps more staff needed. Overall excellent value for money on half board option.

The parador is set in beautifully maintained gardens and build in a classic Canarian style.

The food in the restaurant was very tasty, local cuisine. Tthere were other menu options that, while definitely Spanish cuisine, were'nt necessarily from the Canary Islands.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

I have been staying at this beautiful hotel several times. It is always a joy to spend a few days of rest in such pieceful and lovely enviroments.
Neyra, the reception manager, always makes you feel very welcome. She has that special touch of elegance and consideration for her guests.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and I was given a room with a wonderful balcony overlooking the garden and views to the ocean. The birds were singing beautifully at sunrise and the tress and palms were reaching towards my little oasis.
The pool area is elegant and always very relaxing. Views from the cliff top over the small capital of San Sebastian and harbour absolutely stunning.
Breakfast was delicious and dinner perfect. It warmed my heart to see that Rita is still there. She has such a sweet personality and takes really good care all her guests in the restaurent.
I am looking forward to my next stay.
P.S.the option to choose a duvee instead of traditional blanket and sheets would be highly apreciated.

This hotel has a wonderful location with a lovely building. Unfortunately the service and facilities do not do it justice. Insufficient staff giving random service; although pleasant and helpful they do not have enough time. No information displayed or volunteered about anything anywhere in the hotel meaning that guests have to ask for everything eg WiFi code, menus, restaurant and bar opening times. A QR code displayed for menus did not work properly and was out of date. Instead of serving spoons at breakfast guests are given useless, ridiculous bamboo tongs and even these were absent on one day. On several days routine things, eg plain yogurt ,were not available at breakfast. Rooms are dirty and daily room cleaning perfunctory; frequently late in the afternoon which is annoying. Rooms are dark, poorly lit and old fashioned in style and need refurbishment. WiFi availability is intermittent, sometimes non existent and not available at all in certain public areas. The pool is so cold as to be virtually intolerable. Prices and billing are unclear and confusing. early breakfast on day of departure was given as an individual bag to take away and was absolutely disgusting. The worst I have ever seen. Inedible. Any professional kitchen should be ashamed to produce something so poor for guests. Such a shame.

The room assigned to us had a problem with the air circulation system so that we could not sleep. We asked to move to another room, so we moved in the early hours of the night to another room on the sea side front of the hotel. Unfortunately, those rooms face the harbour under the cliffs so that one could hear the humming of the ferry boat engines all night. This is of course not the fault of the hotel but if you are considering a relaxing hotel for your stay in La Gomera this is not. The second night we had loud TV noise coming from our neighbor room (rooms are not sound proofed as the hotel is quite old). In our move to the second room on the first night due to the noise problems we left a charging cable in the room. The following morning the cable had disappeared. We are still looking for it... So watch out for your belongings and do not leave anything behind. It will be nicked! We were astonished and hurt by the response and attitude of the Reception assuming that we had lied about the cable. We will of course not visit the place again.

As you would expect, a former Manor House with a cliff top location and fabulous views cannot be beaten. Good large bedrooms in old Spanish style but with double sink and walk-in shower, everything you could want. Absolutely the best breakfast and a high level of service. Attracts a generally older crowd mostly there to walk the countryside. Car hire available from €30 for one day in order to get around the island.
Stiff 12 minute walk up from the centre of town , bars and restaurants, just encourages you not to drink too much !

The staff was excellent and even accommodated last minute. The front desk seamlessly checked us in and even gave a good deal on breakfast. She was pleasant, quick and efficient. We even had an issue with the safe not working because the battery died and a staff maintenance and staff member were in our room within minutes! I also needed help calling my AMEX card in the USA and another staff at the front desk, went out of his way to contact AMEX in Spain and then in Spanish asked to transfer to an American representative for me!

The hotel is located in the quaint town of San Sabastian which is only 5 minutes from the ferry port. The town is very historical with beautiful architecture and numerous restaurants.

Parador has beautiful outdoor grounds with a gorgeous view with various seating areas to take in the view. The rooms are well appointed and large with traditional furniture and decor. It's a great, comfortable stay to eat a delicious Canarian dinner after a day of hiking and sightseeing.

After being severely disappointed with Tecina Jardin's DMV impersonal check-in process and terrible food, we cannot say enough great things about Parador de la Gomera.

We stayed for 5 nights and absolutely loved the experience.

The main part of the hotel is in an old colonial mankr house with some more recent extensions having been added, both old and newer parts have the sense of classic style while being clean comfortable and stylish. The overall feel of the hotel is relaxing and tranquil.

Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a nice view of the sea, the harbour and the hotel gardens, the gardens are an absolute delight with great views over the town.

The pool area was fantastic and never too busy.

Breakfast was excellent with a great selection and fantastic food quality.

As with any great hotel it is the staff who make it really special, everyone we met was friendly, polite and offered excellent service, Judith in particular made our stay a little bit more special with her friendliness.

There are a number of good points regarding this hotel - staff were pleasant, room and bathroom were both pretty good in terms of size, good views from room, really nice common areas to the hotel, nice grounds including a lovely pool area, nice breakfast (although 20 Euros per person seemed a tad steep to us).
The good points were, however, outweighed by the bad points - the shower enclosure had extensive mould to the tiling and with mastic untidily smeared all round the shower cubicle, the towel rack in the bathroom was rusty, no water provided in the room (whereas free water was provided nearly everywhere else we stayed), no tea or coffee making facilities provided in the room, no dressing gowns or slippers provided, location is not that convenient being high above the main town (we did know about this in advance but it was a bit of a pain) and the bed and pillows were all extremely firm (making it the most uncomfortable bed we had on our holiday).
The main issues we had were therefore the state of the bathroom (by far the worst we had on our 4 week holiday in the Canaries - even when paying around half the price per night elsewhere) and the lack of things like drinking water and tea/coffee making facilities. We would not stay in this parador again and it has put us off staying in any other paradors given that value for money seems to be very poor and with a penny pinching attitude evident from the management.

I so wanted to rave about this exquisite parador, unfortunately we slept extremely poorly during the 7 nights of our stay! We changed rooms a few times, to no avail, until we discovered the culprit: an enormous 5G antenna, 100 meters away! San Sébastien, the capital of this gem of an island, is unfortunately plagued by 5G antennas, as well as by wind turbines perched around town, to the great displeasure of many locals.
This parador is located directly above the port, which means that when relaxing by the pool, you get noise from ferries that iddle for 2 hours a few times a day, or from the eventual fiesta that goes on all night long...
So, if you're looking for a real quiet place and are sensitive to EMFs, you'll be better off going to the beautiful wild north ( near Hermigua, for instance).
As for the parador, it is simply exquisite, with lovely gardens and nooks everywhere to read or relaxe. The pool is huge and warm (in July). The restaurant is excellent and truly the best of this island (Menu is small but excellent : do try the Mango gaspacho with crayfish, or the Caramelized octopus). The bar courtyard is beautiful, and Antonio the barman just great!
Rooms are simple, but spacious, with seaview, high ceilings ang good firm bedding. Bathrooms have been somewhat updated but still need TLC ( the large rain showerheads are higher than the glass enclosure, hence inundate the whole bathroom. And the soap dispensors, simply glued on the shower wall, keep falling off...)
Common areas are exquisite and numerous.
And, above all, staff is stellar, professionnal and friendly! Thank you Orlando, Antonio, and everyone!
We unfortunately won't be able to come back, unless this 5G antenna is taken down, which would delight the locals as well, but is highly unlikely!

Thank you very much for your comprehensive review, which I am sure will be helpful for future guests. Regarding the antenna, there is no such huge installation near the Parador. It may refer to a now disused telecommunications facility (the island is mostly cable operated). And the fiestas are local celebrations in the summer period, which affect the Parador area only a couple of times. We regret that they coincided with your stay. Kind regards from La Gomera,
