Unfortunately, not what we had expected. For a 5* hotel, the facilities, service and experience was not up to standard. The 2-star score reflects a significant shortfall in the value-for-money offered - this was not cheap. SERVICE from housekeeping and waiting staff (by the pool) was great. The reception experience was poor. Ignored upon arrival and departure for some time, and upon departure we were not asked about our stay, or wished a safe onward trip. CLEANLINESS was good. The rooms were well looked after, as were the communal areas. The cushions in the pool area are long overdue a replacement; they are dirty. POOL AREA in need of significant investment. The decking needs all relaying, as it bounces around and is uneven. The sun beds all need replacing - and especially the dirty and worn sun bed cushions. The drinks servers were efficient. Someone - perhaps the lifeguard - failed to keep some over-excited guests in check, allowing them to loudly takeover the entire area, taking glasses into the pool, and throwing their fully clothed friends in too. ROOM was also in need of much investment. The bathroom was one of smallest and darkest I have seen, with an incredibly weak shower, and the furniture and fittings were tired. All in need of replacement. The console for operating the lights / curtains was so old fashioned, worn and inefficient. Hotels sometimes argue that it’s an older style hotel, but that’s no excuse for poor maintenance. Or, that they have a maintenance program - well until that maintenance or refurbishment is performed, then it is not 5*. All areas need to be of the high standard of the reception / bar area. Seeing that on arrival, and then seeing the corridors / room was a huge let down. GENERAL points include this being on a main road, a 25 minute walk into the centre. The hallways and lifts are not air conditioned, and get incredibly hot. There are not many sun beds available, and even fewer that actually get some sun - the day beds that are charged for occupy the best spots, but they are fully shaded. If you want a genuine 5* hotel experience, with a pool, where you can be sure of getting a sun bed - then look elsewhere.

You get what you paid for! A 5 star hotel with 5 star service! At check-in, we were offered a drink (water or juice) We had a connecting rooms for a family of 4. Rooms were nice with big comfortable beds. Our rooms had a balcony with a beautiful view of the bay area and the pool. Turndown service at night and the housekeeping everynight always ask if you need extra towels or shampoos etc. Breakfast was great with a lot of food selections. By the 2nd day, staff in the breakfast area already knows what room we were staying and the choices of coffee we like to have so it was a definitely a big plus for me. Pool was big and the area has a lot of spaces for guest. They also have a lifeguard. Parking cost 25euros per day for guest but you can park outside the hotel in the streets if you don’t want to use the hotel parking. The hotel is around 25-35mins walk to the cathedral. If walking is not your thing especially with the heat of summer, a bus ride takes 15mins and cost 2 euros per person. Bus stop is 3 mins walk around the corner from the hotel’s main entrance. There are also a lot of restaurants and bars around the hotel so you don’t need to go to the center to grab a bite or have a drink. The hotel’s room service is 24 hours. It also has a gym and spa facilities. I would definitely come back to this hotel if I am in Palma.

This hotel is ideal for a short or long break Good pool area nice rooms (some in need of an update) fab breakfast and great views Easy walk (20 mins) to Palma where there are great restaurants 10 mins from the airport so ticks all the boxes for a getaway

Just about to end our weeks stay. Had felt a little anxious after reading the recent reviews but we have thoroughly enjoyed it. All staff are friendly & welcoming despite the rudeness of some guests we observed. Cava on arrival. Good breakfast selection. Everywhere was clean & tidy. Side sea view room on 7th floor. Super comfortable beds & pillows. Not disturbed by traffic. Pool clean & comfortable sun loungers

Firstly we arrived at the hotel and were greeted with cava which was a lovely touch and is something that happens in all the Gran melia hotels. Staff very pleasant. We were red level so we used the lounge also, which had a good selection of drinks, inc beers, wines and spirits. There were snacks in there but myself being a vegetarian, I was only really able to eat crisps! My partner enjoyed the meat based snacks though. The hotel itself and the room were pristine and very nice. Breakfast was delicious and a good variety. The sauna was a bit of a pain as you had to call them and then wait for them to come and switch it on. The pool was nice but small. It was very quiet when we were at the hotel, it wasn’t full so I think we were just lucky but I imagine it being very busy in there at high season. We couldn’t use the outdoor pool area as it wasn’t warm enough but it looked lovely all the same but didn’t seem like there were many sun loungers and not being next to a beach, this could cause issues in the height of summer! We had a lovely stay but on the last day we were left with a bitter taste in our mouths. Knowing full well that the hotel was quiet, the staff even admitted this, we asked for an extension on our room as we had a late evening flight. We were told we could keep the room until 12 for free but until 6 it was extra! It was over €100 euros!!! After staying there for 3 nights and the room clearly wasn’t needed, they could’ve just let us use the room. We had already paid over €1000 anyway. Left feeling underwhelmed and ripped off!

We have been to many a top 5 star hotel and this was seriously one of the very best! We stayed in the Red Level sea view room with amazing views over the beautiful harbour. The room was stunning, newly decorated in a white/cream decor with a walk in shower and bath tub with quality products. The Red Level was amazing with complimentary drinks and snacks to enjoy all day on the outdoor terrace watching the ships come and go in the harbour over a glass or two of bubbly and Strongbow of course ;-) What makes this hotel extra special, and for us made our holiday, was the staff. They exceeded our expectations of excellent 5 star customer service with fine attention to detail. Hotel was spotlessly clean in all areas of the hotel and beautifully designed through out. Pool area was lovely with plenty of cushioned sun beds and 4 Bali beds to enjoy if you wished. Breakfast and evening meal had a great choice and the service was superb every day, with that beautiful harbour view makes it even more special. We will defiantly be planning another trip later this year for a romantic long weekend so see you all very soon! Many thanks again to all the amazing staff Karen and Neil

Don’t stay here, didn’t sleep the entire time. The noise from the road and nearby bars is dreadful. Room was very dated. Staff on reception useless and rude. Food also mediocre and bar staff didn’t know how to make gin and tonics. Much better places to stay in Palma that are less stars.

Definitely not 5* although room,waiting & bar staff lovely. Cleanliness not good especially state of pools. Clarins products no longer used in rooms. Do not go half board the food choice is too limited. Mini bar prices very good & some great restaurants within walking distance. Ear plugs needed at night for the road noise.

The hotel was once a great vacation spot . However now it’s not only tired . It’s actually a place to miss . The food and choice of wine is so limited you start to wish you were in another restaurant and think to drink beer . The decor is as was many years prior . Disappointed will not be back . Such a shame

been back a week now but stayed for five nights and very much liked it here a little bit old fashioned but all the better for it ,we had a side sea view room which was a decent size and although we would probably go for a front sea view room next time nobody would be disappointed , lovely terrace for breakfast and drinks in the evening overall its obviously an older property and a bit old fashioned but like i say good for it and classy .
