Camping second category mountain, situated at 1,200 m. Altitude in the Sierra de Maria, Los Velez Natural Park Almeria. For those who appreciate pure rural tourism, tranquility and contact with nature, no doubt you will find a very interesting alternative.

Totally recommendable, we went as a family and we will repeat next year. Very good facilities, great treatment. The hotel manager was super attentive to our well-being and made us feel at home. Kind, attentive and close. The hotel reception was excellent. THANK YOU!

We spent three months travelling / camping Spain/France as a family of four (2x adults, 2x children aged 2 & 3) in 2012. We planned on using Sierra Maria as a stop-off campsite before Sierra Nevada, but ended up spending 2x weeks there. It was our favourite campsite during our travels.
We had never heard of this remote part of Andalusia, but we fell in love with Sierra Maria and definitely want to visit again.
Although the campsite was quiet and secluded, there was a lovely, friendly vibe. The site is maintained to the highest standard. The pool is cleaned daily. We were made to feel so welcome, and were invited to spend time with the Spanish families.
Overlooked by mountains, the scenery is beautiful. There are no major supermarkets, but there is a small, well-stocked shop in Maria.
If you are looking for peace and relaxation and an opportunity to experience rural Spain, you will love Sierra Maria. It is also great for children, as they have space and freedom to enjoy.

This is a fantastic camp site, don't be put off when you arrive if like us, you can't find anyone in the reception, just stroll up to the bar area and you will find Ivan, who is one of the most friendly site managers I have ever met - he's desperate to learn English, and takes every opportunity to learn from the guests! The site itself is situated in the sierras, with great walks and bicycle rides very close by. The facilities are scrupulously clean, and the showers amongst the biggest we've come across. The pitches are very large and have a good choice of shade/ no shade. Just a short walk from the campsite is a superb restaurant - try the lamb - which is not only delicious but reasonably priced and served by really friendly staff/ owners. The only downside is that it is quite far out if you have to shop for food (there is a small Dias in Maria) but we'd recommend you stock up before you arrive. Best site so far on our adventure.

Must come again, could only stay a night as we were heading home. Very pleasant staff, absolutely amazing food, had the paella and tapas in the evening, with stunning view across the Sierra de María-Los Vélez Natural Park. The toilets, pool and pitches were very comfortable, clean and more than sufficient , and very very reasonably priced. Just wish we had more time to explore the mountains. Thank you

Buen lugar. En buen precio. La gente muy amable y el entorno es majestuoso.
Great place, majestic environment. It’s a must go, don’t forget to visit Los Velez. Try to go on the day of the party if town... (las fiestas del pueblo) and grab a taste of the deep Spain.

An accidental but brilliant find! Camping Sierra María is a fairly large site but each pitch is well defined and spacious. We stayed for 2.5 weeks and only moved on due to a problem with our motor home. The site is clean and tidy, the facilities all excellent and spotlessly clean with a heated shower/toilet block and endless hot water. The scenery is spectacular and there is plenty of walking and cycling to be had right from the door. Open all year including a bar/restaurant with fantastic food and a welcome as warm as the roaring log fire. The staff and management were very friendly and helpful and made our stay. In the three months we have been on the road, Sierra María has put all the other sites we have visited, well and truly in the shade. Muchísimas gracias a todos y Feliz Navidad 😁

This campsite has a variety on offer - from small tent pitches, through to permanent set-ups and larger spaces for motorhomes.
The facilities are fun and low-key - shop at reception, good onsite bar/restaurant, salt-water pool, mini farm and lots of space for children to play. When we visited most of the guests were families.
We stayed in Romeral, a 2bed cabin for €90 a night. Whilst small, the cabin had everything needed - from aircon and TV if needed, through to kitchen (with fridge and microwave), shower-room and terrace (only thing not included are towels).
We really enjoyed out trip here, and would definitely return!

excellent site for walkers ,mountain bikers and nature lovers .My wife and I had 5 nights there in May with our dogs staying in our campervan ,the staff were very helpful and did all they could to accommodate us including trying to interpret my poor Spanish. There are improvements being made to the site which will enhance its attraction even further in the near future. We really enjoyed exploring the area and the stunning views from the surrounding hills . We will be back !

Have been twice to this campsite and will be going many more times. Restaurant is very good. Whole campsite is friendly and as helpful as they can be. At the moment they are refurbishing one toilet block when done will be as excellent as the one that exists. From November they have got lively wooden chalets to rent if its too cool to camp. One recommendation I would make is from midnight when they turn the lights out it is very difficult to find the toilets there needs to be small glow along the road for campers. Apart from this everything is very satisfactory.

A beautiful winter weekend in Los Velez, Camping Sierra de María. A few days away after Christmas in the beautiful Natural Park of Sierra de María was a perfect energy booster.
Snow capped mountain views from our cabaña & although it was a chilly weekend the sun was warm, weather fine for walking and the cabaña muy cómodo!
The Natural Park is absolutely stunning and far too large for just one weekend's enjoyment. We'll be returning in primavera with the family perhaps with tents to enjoy the full campsite facilities and to discover much more we know Sierra de María has to offer.
