It was our second time in Kugel. The staff was always nice and fexible, we were perfectly welcomed and enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, the inside of the hotel is beautiful and the shower was fantastic. We already recommended this hotel the first time and we gladly do it again this time, we definitely will be going back.

Hotel kugel is actually located on the other side of the Mosel from the old city of Trier. It took us around 15 minutes by car to get to the city centre. Since we were by car, this wasn't a problem for us. Walking will be a bit far though. Parking at the hotel is free, but there are only a couple of parking spaces designated for hotel guests. Upon arrival we were kindly greeted by the lady at the front desk. She tried hard to help us in English and we even got an upgrade. Also, everything was well organised according to the Corona regulations. Our room was spacious, but very outdated. The decor was very old-fashioned and things like the carpets and drapes could definitely use an update. Aside from a bed with side tables, our room contained quite a large wardrobe and a seating area with table, chair and a little bench. There also was a large TV. Our bathroom was even more so outdated. The shower head was a bit broken and the cabin was a bit moldy. The room was cleaned every day, but I did notice they missed some things. For example the previous guests had left breadrolls in a plastic bag in the windowsill and they weren't cleaned out before we arrived. That being said, our stay at this hotel was extremely inexpensive at less than 25 euros per person, per night. This was the price for a twin room with a shared bathroom, but with the update we had a double room with private bathroom. There isn't much to do or see in the area of the hotel. It is really a suburb of the city. Luckily there is a restaurant, with a patio, attached to the hotel. They have a very extensive menu and the staff was very kind. Our pizzas were okay and prices were reasonable. I don't think I will be staying here again, just because of the distance to the centre and the old rooms, but if you're looking for something that won't break the bank this might work for you.

We stayed here for one night whilst traveling to Luxembourg. We arrived at 14:00. Check-in starts at 15:00 so we couldnt go to the room, which I understand. However I asked if there was a toilet I could use and this was refused, I had to wait until 15:00. We’d been in the car for hours and had to drive back to the centre to use a bathroom. Note that the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays, so there is nowhere to get a drink. We sat and had drinks in a different hotel about 10 minutes up the road. The room is very very basic, old and small. Shower door was broken, the bathroom door couldnt fully open because of a wardrobe, plastic cups in the bathroom were dirty (not single use) There are glasses in the room but no coffee/tea facilities or even a bottle of water. Reception only between 15:00 - 20:00. We booked a room for 2 adults and 1 child but there are only 2 single beds in the room.

Decent and clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed our stay. Local style breakfast. Parking can be tight when busy. It wasn’t busy when we were there. A bit out of town. One needs a car when staying here.

I was on business in Trier and found this place at the last minute. A sub-urban hotel in a small "village" out of the main city. Self contained, restaurant, bar - for what is a small hotel, most welcoming, big breakfast spread.

We stayed two nights Friday and Saturday in September, and really just slept there. As other reviewers mentioned, there was a strong cigarette smoke smell about the place. Because of this we didn't want to eat in the restaurant. We did have some problem with the heater, but it was fixed quickly. The price was right, beds were comfortable, and because we were cycling, we were close to the bike path that took us into the heart of Trier in about 15 minutes. Quite OK.

We were greeted by a helpful receptionist, though her English was very broken, and stumbled through her explanations. I never expect places to speak English, and respect that not everyone knows the language, but it was advertised that the hotel spoke English. I felt bad for making her explain everything to me in English when she was clearly uncomfortable. Parking is a pain. Luckily we turned up 3 hours before check in, so managed to squeeze into one. Don't expect a space if you're checking in later. We booked a double room with an en suite bathroom/toilet. It was big room, and was clean throughout. Unfortunately the room above has creaky floorboards, so whenever they move around, they can be heard. Opted out of the breakfast, but there seemed to be a good selection from a continental breakfast buffet. Location wise, it is about an hour and a half's walk from the main points of interest in Trier. There is a bus route near that does take you to the centre fairly frequently. Alternatively, you can drive within 15 minutes, if you are willing vacate your precious parking space. Overall, I was impressed with the room itself, and the wonderful receptionist, but unfortunately the parking, and the falsely advertised language gave the stay a slight tinge of negativity.

Booked this hotel for an overnight stay on my way south. Friendly response and helpful regarding my request for checking in late. Standard was what yuo could expect for the very reasonable price, but no heating (not possible to turn on) in the room made it a very chilly experience. Outside tempreature around 6 C. and window in the room left open with no radiators on, Brr... Otherwise quite OK. Left too early to give a judgement regarding breakfast, but what I saw them preparing looked fine.

The basement bedroom was dark but the bedroom above, which was reached by a windy staircase, was bright and airy. Both bedrooms were a good size and very clean. The bathroom was very new with a good shower. We also had a fridge and a coffee maker. All in all, very good for the price we paid. The restaurant food was very good. We ate outside in the small beer garden which was very pleasant. The restaurant is under separate ownership and does not take credit cards. We had no problem parking the car and Trier center was easily reached. There wasn't much to do in the immediate vicinity of the Hotel but our intention was to spend most of the time in Trier which is well worth a visit.
