Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Backpackers hostel is a better description. I’ve had better Uni accommodation. Expensive for the little it offered. Good point: free outdoor secure parking 200m away. Our room was basic. Bed. 2 ‘office’ chairs. TV German channels only. English ‘kein dienst’. No bottled water, no tea/coffee/kettle. No hotel/town info. Nothing. Bathroom missing a mirror, but its bracket was still there. Online details said ‘bar/restaurant’. Where were they? There’s a Mercure opposite. Go there.

Hotel was very nice. I could store my stuff before checkin and after checkout. My room was in the 5th stock under the roof with view on the dom. The minor thing was that it was very hot in the room and no curtains to dark the room so in early morning it was early light. The good thing was the rooms were big, very good location 10 min. Walking from the trainstation. Near porta nigra. I didnt took any breakfast or dinner. I enjoyed my stay.

This hotel was everything I had read it to be. NOT 5* - so I wasn’t disappointed. NOT the greatest breakfast fluffed - but enough to start the day. We were taken care of, made freshly ground coffee upon arrival, which was most welcomed as we drove from Calais. Very clean, comfortable, centrally located, easy FREE parking, GOOD WiFi. Do your homework, don’t expect more than you can research and above all - don’t leave disparaging comments. This hotel suited our stay. Thank you to the staff for your attentive service. Oh, just one thing - personally, we HATED the toilet as you could see your daily deposit!!!!!

Unfortunately when we arrived we didn’t get off to a good start as the standard of room we were given was nothing like what we thought we had booked! For some reason we were taken to what I can only call pokey attic room, with one set of curtains missing and that meant no privacy from another nearby room once it was dark .. a very odd situation! So we returned to reception to complain and were immediately shown to a far superior room, very much like the one we thought we had booked. However, the lift area and corridors smelt of drains but this was rectified over night. For what we paid, room only with no breakfast it was an ok stay but we wouldn’t consider staying again or recommending it to anyone. The hotel desperately needs to spend some money to bring certain parts up to the standards guests should expect from a city centre hotel .. the laminate floor in our particular room was appalling and in places the wood effect has completely worn away.

We stayed here 2 nights, room was tired and tatty but clean enough, free parking was excellent and the main reason we chose this hotel and of course the location. Although advertised as Wifi in the rooms, this wasn't the case and when we questioned it, the poor lad at reception was embarrassed, however most helpful on other matters.

This hotel is a town centre hotel, it’s location is very central right beside the pont nigra in the city centre. The hotel is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful city of Trier.the rooms are not large but very functional and an excellent shower started each day off perfectly. We didn’t dine in the hotel, we preferred the local cafes and restaurants in the sunshine. If you are looking for a good quality town centre hotel then this is perfect. Also only a few minutes walk from the railway station.

My wife and I have stayed in this hotel several times but this might have been the last time. Breakfast is an extra €9.50 each which is OK for normal German buffet breakfast but, when we had to check boxes on a piece of paper for what we wanted for breakfast, without being able to see what we were ordering, it is NOT OK but very disappointing. There were not many in the hotel but there MUST be a better way of serving breakfast for the same price as a normal full buffet with everything displayed.

I just paid 125€ for one night and for that I got: -no breakfast (is extra) -13 coat hangers (why??) -no fridge or minibar -no wifi (none at all) -no desk or table -no chair -no telefon -no info booklet -no AC or a fan -a room that was quite loud through the night -a .25l of complementary water for 2 persons (WTF?) - one way paper cups in the bathroom (f*** the environment) You wonder why they have no star rating? Well, I don't!! Never again...

As everyone seems to know, the location of the hotel, next to Porta Nigra, is superb. This is a traditional German hotel, (I first visited it in 1999) with wood and plain cream coloured walls. The doors still use physical keys, the rooms are not as large as some, though they were fine for our needs. There is an intimate feel to the hotel, the staff are friendly and efficient, the bathroom was modern with an excellent and very hot shower. The restaurant is excellent, with local venison, pork and beef for the meat eaters. Traditional German breakfast is good quality and excellent value. If you’re looking for an international style modern hotel you might be disappointed here, but if you have travelled to see real Germany you won’t be disappointed.

This is a very old and tired Hotel that is surviving by being in a great location it is terrible. we would never stay there again the bathroom did not have an electrical outlet to plug-in night light in. they had over 200 channels on their TV and yet the only 1 channel for Americans and it was CNN and nobody watches CNN anymore. Our room was like daylight night and day because the windows had no darkening drapes. It appeared the only qualified employees in the whole Hotel were the ladies who clean the rooms.
