The Urban Loft Cologne is lauded for its prime location, within easy reach of the cathedral and train station, making it a convenient base for city exploration. Guests have called out the cleanliness of its rooms and bathrooms and are particularly fond of the hotel's modern and welcoming atmosphere. Unique breakfast boxes and complimentary coffee are popular, although the lack of fridges in rooms has been noted. While some travelers commend the helpful staff, others have encountered service issues. Room sizes and noise levels received mixed feedback, as did the hotel's value proposition.

Just a great base for a short stay in Cologne - 5 minute walk to train station, 10 minute walk to cathedral. We loved the friedly vibe, great buzz in the lobby area with coffee station etc, while the rooms were really quiet and clean. The rooms are not huge but well equipped with excellent shower and large comfortable bed, smart TV etc. We also loved that there was minimal interference in your room during a short stay - no cleaners hovering waiting to clean your room every morning. It makes for a more relaxing time (and of course they will come clean your room if you ask!) Great staff also. And free coffee from 11pm to 11am in the lobby - we will definitely stay here again!

We’ve just come back from Cologne, having spent 4 nights at Urban Loft. We have stayed in Cologne on about 4 other occasions, staying at various hotels including the Hilton. However the Urban Loft was as good as any place that we have stayed in! It was a little bit further away from the centre than we have stayed before, but even so, the Cathedral is still only just over 5 minutes walk away! All in all, we found it to be an excellent location. We had an Urban View room which had a view of the Cathedral, and whilst it looked directly over the train lines, the amazing windows meant that no noise was heard at all from the trains. The room was excellent value and had everything we needed for our stay and the bed was probably the most comfortable we have ever slept on. We didn’t choose to have the breakfast box, but instead chose to buy a couple of items from the local bakeries and ate them either in the lobby where there was free coffee, water and fresh orange, or up on the amazing roof terrace! The final mention has to go to the staff there too. They were the most welcoming and friendly group we have come across, and really made the stay a relaxed and happy one! Thank you all. We stayed here with one of our sets of parents at the same time, and by the end of the holiday we all agreed that we would most definitely come back here to stay next time. We can’t wait!

The hotel is really beautiful, the lobby as much as the hotel room itself, and we felt comfortable the whole time. The room was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Although the trains were very close, we heard nothing with closed windows! So we could sleep pretty well.
In addition, the crew was really friendly and welcomed us with open arms so we felt taken care of.
An other great fact is the location since you only have to walk about 10 to 15 minutes from the main station to get there!
To conclude, the Urban Loft made our stay in Cologne unique and we cannot wait to visit it an other time.

location: 4/5
room: type urban loft, no view, nothing special 3/5
service: 2.5/5; we stayed 3 nights and never received room attention/service; at check out our bill was 20% higher than expected based on our booking rate; when we adressed this we were told the amount was correct;after a few minutes they agreed with us and corrected the bill but without an apology. People were nice in general but employees eating and leaving their delivered foods in the guest premises don't leave a nice impression.
breakfast: 1/5 ; dreadful; unripe fruits, unappetizing sandwiches, all with cheese in all 3 choices (vegan/vegetarian/standard),stale cookies/cake; Anyway it was our decision to have ordere themd; much better to get a few of those delicious bakery products available in the neighbourhood

Ovjectively very comfortable, with the biggest bed I’ve ever seen, a shower with more pressure than Victoria Falls, and limitless coffee that is drinkable. And the most disappointing thing in my entire trip was finding that the pillows they have are not available for public purchase.
It does fall down in being quite pretentious and self unaware. There are bizarre puns in san serif on labels everywhere, which aren’t particularly funny. However there is no actually useful information, like prices, so you get slogged by a surprise €12 for the dull and stodgy “boxed breakfast”.
To get in at night you have to wait for a staff member to let you in like a nun admitting a girl who stayed out past her convent school’s curfew. Of course, as there is no information anywhere you are on the street at 3am waving your room card over ever surface in sight.
On the room card, they only work in the lift about 25% of the time.
Overall, it’s less preposterous to stay at a normal hotel at the same price. And you won’t have to put up with millennial pink there.

A clean centrally located hotel trying too hard to be a hipster hotel with little thought given to the guest experience.

Positives: Great location and very clean, prefect for exploring the city.

Negatives: The staff on reception needed some training about quest experience as there were often very blunt and rude, they did really explain any details of the hotel (such as the breakfast, how to access the roof terrace or about the wifi).

In the room there was no tea or coffee making facilities, considering the room looked like it had been refurbished in the last few years there was no USB charging points (or USB-C) charging points which seems short cited. The desk was too small to work or use a laptop on. The lights on the TV were incredibly annoying when you are trying to sleep with no way of turning them off.

Some reviews have commented about loving the pillows but this was not the case for me. They were awful and really ruined by nights sleep.

The breakfast is a box full of prepacked dry cakes and sandwiches. There was a lot waste plastic, and little thought given to local taste and experiences. Maybe offer the breakfast box or a buffet

Recommendations for the hotel: Tea/coffee making facilities in the room, training the front desk staff, the art work thoughout the hotel is very bland and doesn't really give you any representation of Cologne.

The hotel is very fresh with nice funky decor. Its location is perfectly situated next to central station.

The staff was always nice and friendly. Check in and check out was fast and easy.

The only thing you might want to know is that there is no room cleaning service so we stayed with the same shower towel for the full duration of our stay. It was a bit annoying that also our bins were never emptied. Also be aware of the shower head… once you switch it on it will go all over the bathroom floor and the bathroom door as this was fixed and not adjustable.

But on the whole i would definitely visit again.

We enjoyed our stay at Urban loft very much. The hotel is near the train station but you don't hear any noise inside.
Great rooms with modern look (we stayed at Urban View with view on the Dom), nice atmosphere.
Nice bar and snack corner.
Breakfast was included in our stay but we would not choose it again. The breakfast was ready made packages (normal, veggie or vegan) which means you can't choose what is inside. Not all products were fresh (granola on yoghurt was not crunchy anymore..). It means also lots of things you don't like you throw. The package was every day almost the same. The idea is nice and easy for the hotel but we would recommend go eat breakfast in other place if you are fan of a continental breakfast.

The location is 5 mins walk from the HBF and easy unless you get killed by the bike riders. The hotel is quite new and average value for what it is.

The room is an odd shape and space inefficient. There is a large bathroom though much of the space is wasted and there are few amenities. The screen in the shower is poor as it allows water to run out - it isn’t a door just a partial screen. The basin is tiny and should be better. There is minimal space to put toiletries and the toilet is a bit of a disaster.

The bed was comfortable but there is only one kitchen chair in the room, a small open storage area and no real desk or workstation. It does have a safe though no kettle or fridge. We did however get a small and very cheap kettle from reception.

Breakfast is continental only but did have a fair selection of cold food. Best aspect was fresh orange juice on 3 of the 4 days. However the layout of the room is not great and guests had a hard time finding anywhere to eat.

Service was okay except that the receptionist tried to over-charge us. We paid on arrival yet when we checked out, he asked for quite a bit more. He showed the data on the screen and we dug out the booking slip which showed that the bill incl city taxes was paid other than 5.6 Euros for some reason. He admitted to being bad at math but I’m not and neither is my wife. Note that cash isn’t accepted. I booked on their own website so there was no reason for this mess up.

I’d stay there again only for a short time and if we were really just needing a place to sleep. I do feel a bit disappointed with the odd room, which tries to be funky rather than practical.

We stayed at Urban Loft in Cologne for 4 nights in March 2023 and would thoroughly recommend it. The quadruple glazed windows mean there is no sound of the railway lines just outside and makes it a super convenient location if you are arriving via train, as we were. The room was spotlessly clean and very modern. The bathroom is particularly cool - with a great shower. Breakfast is an optional extra (you can order the night before but we didn't as we went out to local cafes) but free tea/coffee is available to hotel guests in the reception lounge/bar area first and last thing and was very welcome. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
