Stay! Hotel Boardinghouse is located in the largely Turkish dominated district to there were some great eating spots within a 100 metre radius. In fact, there is a Turkish restaurant underneath the hotel, which has a small unobtrusive entrance and a small lobby before spreading out to 6 or 7 floors above. This hotel represents very good value with spacious air conditioned rooms, a clean, fresh streamlined look with modern Scandinavian timber influenced furnishing, it’s 5a 5 minute walk to the central railway station, excellent wifi and Nespresso coffee maker, a complementary bottle of sparking water each day and a complementary soft drink/water each day. Very helpful reception staff. Quite marvelous really. We Stay!ed five nights.

Convenient locations within easy walking distance from the train station. Staff were fabulous with recommendations of restaurants and also with places to visit. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I was worried with noise from the busy road, but once inside you couldn't hear it at all!

Outstanding customer service, clean rooms with everything you could want for a stay in Hamburg. Close to the main train station and the subway. Yea and coffee making facilities. Great air conditioning. A bakery just across the road. Very welcoming staff and a secure place to leave luggage prior to checking in or out.

Here for a Pre-Christmas weekend and decided to check this one out, and I’m not been disappointed. Good location, only short walk from Hamburg Central Station, room is spacious and clean, surprisingly quiet thanks to the double glazing glass windows, comfortable bed and nice shower. Friendly staffs!
Pros - Location, location, location.
Cons - The neighbourhood might not be kids friendly, my view from the room is directly opposite a sex shop!
Would definitely come back when I’m next in town.

If you arrive with train, and will mainly travel using public transportation to get around, this centrally located hotel is a great, neat, budget friendly option. The rooms are clean and the interior fresh.

I would happily recommend this hotel. Spotlessly clean and everything seemed brand new. Its located just round the corner from the central station and a short walk to everywhere. We didn't pay for breakfast. We bought some things from the local supermarket and kept milk in the fridge. I couldn't find a single negative thing to say about the hotel. A few people have mentioned the kebab shops that line the street but we found it all really vibrant. Its better to have a busy area with people everywhere rather than walking around a ghost town. We took a hop on hop off bus trip, handily just round the corner at the station, and they said the area is an expensive place to live. There are loads of restaurants and quite a few fancy bars. We felt 100% safe and made a great decision to stay here.

Hotel was clean and the front desk personnel were extremely nice and helpful. The area the hotel is located is a bit sketchy. We weren't afraid but you have to be aware of your surroundings. Modern design loved the artwork over the headboard in our room. Breakfast was at the restaurant next door and wasn't very good. It was more like a lunch type food. Would recommend the hotel but not getting the breakfast.

The hotel is located walking distance from the railway station, the surrounding area is not the best but you feel safe as well.
The rooms are renewed, large enough, clean, bathrooms are nice.
Personnel is kind and professional.
Wifi, included, of good quality.
I didn't have breakfast.
It is a clean and cheap hotel, a good choice if you are not looking for luxury stuff.

Small room!
New decor doesn’t compensate for the size!
But listen the real bad news are coming:
no A/C !
let me spell this again for you : no Air-condition!!!
It is 30 degrees and no air-condition!
Stuff were nice to bring us a ventilator.
Who granted this hotel with 4 stars??
I doubt that Expedia will allow fake information on their website!
It is a nice 2 stars hotel located close to the main train station that’s it and if you feel like paying for a 4 stars and getting a 2 stars this is the hotel for you.
What a disappointment.

We were 2 couple that stayed here for 3 nights in December for Christmas shopping and checking out the many Christmas Markets. Through a good offer on the Internet we booked 2 rooms at the hotel even though we read about the area that was a concern to some. Travelling by car we needed a parking place near the hotel and luckily the hotel offered parking in a garage under the hotel, which is perfect and safe. The cost is extra €15 a day.
We had repaid the hotel upon reservation and was presented with Tourist tax on €1 per person and per day even though our booking was included all taxes.
The surroundings was not as bad as we thought but we understand why some don't like to walk home at night. It is an area of many mixed nationalities and some were very loud and drunk and could seem aggresive, so we understand why some don't like the area. Being a group of 4 we did not have any problems being our late at night. But access to the pedestrian streets and Christmas markets in the middle of town was easy accessible with only 10 minutes walk, so in that sense the location is rather good.
The room was a Superior Double room quite new, decent size, with fridge and cooking facilities in 1 of the rooms and only fridge in the other. The cleaning seems to be good, and the room has a nice bathroom even though I never understand why the shower is not made so you won't spray water all over the floor.
The breakfast was extra at €12,90 at week days and € in the weekend. It is a sort of Continental breakfast with some additional eastern dishes at it is open until 12, so you can sleep in late. But I had a problem getting clean hot water for the tea, as the water was in a container that probably hasn't been cleaned after being used for tea. It had a brown-ish color and I asked for clean water, but the waiter didn't speak english and seemed not to know how to solve the problem, So I never got clean water and drank juice. We noticed that the food came from a restaurant below the hotel's restaurant on the ground floor. On Sunday many tables was reserved for people coming from outside of the hotel and seems to be family, which made a lot of noice and blocked the entrance of the restaurant.
We enjoyed our stay but will not stay here again, if we come back. We will probably choose another hotel in a better location. And there are many to choose between.

The streets are well lit and the place didn't seem scary. But certainly was not a good nice neighborhood.
