For 55 Euro/night, it is great value for money. Located near the U-Bahn and City-bike rental, is is also quite accessible. Rooms are big and cleaned every day. There is a free wireless internet which isn't usually a standard in much more pricey places. It is located along a backstreet, which makes it quiet. My room had only one disadvantage. While taking a bath, I had to wait a long time for hot water and then it was either extremely hot or quite cold.

We choose this hotel because it is not far away from the underground station UBahn Lübecker Straße (ca. 5 minutes walk). Form there you can reach every place you like to go without having troubles where to park your car. It is only a short ride with the UBahn to get to all main attractions of Hamburg. That makes your visit very comfortable and relaxing. Near to the hotel is the Alsterbad, a public swimming hall.
The hotel is located in a small street with many free parking places at the side oppsite from the hotel. The buildings of the hotel are rather old. We stayed in the building right from the main entrace. We had two nice and quiet rooms, one with a kitchenette one without. The beds were very comfortable. As there is no elevator in the buildung, you should ask for a room on the 1st floor if you are handicapped or have heavy luggage. Our bathroom was very small.
The personnel was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet offers a good variety of food, ranging from fresh fruit to scrambled eggs, different kinds of bread, juice, cheese, sausage,etc. as well as coffee or tea.
We felt very comfortable and would love to stay there again.

Stayed there for a weekend in one of their apartments. The apartments are basic but really roomy. The shower is a bit small but you are not in a 4 star hotel. We slept great on the bed. The hotel was really close to the metro and you can easily reach different locations in the city. The breakfast for 7.50 was great! Very good value for the price.

I stayed in this hotel with my boyfriend for 4 nights ( during the new year's Eve period). The room was very comfortable and clean. It had also a useful small kitchen. The bath had the hairdryer and a shower with costant hot water. The internet connection was perfect. The owner and his son were very kind with us. The position is good: in 2 minutes by feet you can arrive to the subway stop. For all these reasons I give with no doubt the maximum rate to this hotel.

First the admin. I booked independently in May for an end october stay. Good prompt communication. Last one from hotel, in English, said booking confirmed, please advise any changes. Day before arrival I emailed them with estimated arrival time. I was 'slightly amazed' when checking in to be told that I only now had a room because someone else had cancelled & my arrival time email had caused them to make the room available to me. They thought that because I hadn't replied to a confirmation from them that I no longer wanted the room. Clear lesson then, ALWAYS reconfirm their confirmation.
On to the stay - basically as other reviewers have said. 3 minutes walk to Lubecker Strasse U bahn with 2 lines into town, 2- 4 stops for city centre shopping area. Very quiet location. Room large & cleaned daily, everything worked. Apart from a handwash, no toiletries in bathroom. Very wide selection and good quality breakfast buffet. Owner friendly & approachable if you need to. At 55 Euro plus 7.50 Euro for breakfast very good value.
Excellent for: value for money, location, quie. Watch for: booking procedure especially if long lead time.
It will still be my first option for future visits to Hamburg

City Apartment Hotel Hamburg is not as the name would imply in English. It is more like a country B&B you might find in Vermont, with a kitchenette. The rooms are lovingly decorated, with ample space for working, dancing to your iPod or just hanging out. It is kept very clean. The staff is friendly, without being overbearing. They are helpful if you ask for it, and know to leave you be if you want privacy. They serve a huge European style buffet breakfast every day, and there is a quiet bar in the lobby. My room was directly over the bar and I was not wakened by noise the entire 2 weeks I was there. The room included hair drier, stove top, refrigerator, cooking pots, dishes, coffee maker and electric kettle. There's a 'small' grocery nearby that carries all you'll need to stock your kitchenette if you plan to cook your own meals or just want snacks and drinks. Other than the grocery, there is not much dining or shopping in the immediate vicinity, but a 10 minute walk (turn left at the subway) gets you to all kinds of fast food and proper dining. Anyone on the staff will call for a cab, which comes promptly. Taxi to the downtown harbor cost about 15 euros with tip. City Apartment Hotel Hamburg was exactly the kind of homey atmosphere I needed after a day of work. I was very glad to stay there and hope to return.

My wife and I and another couple stayed at the City Apartment Hotel in early Sept 06 and had a very enjoyable stay. Good things about the hotel are: - Location: A quiet spot yet close to the Luebecker Strasse U Bahn (underground) which is only a couple of stops from the centre of the city - Easy walking distance from the Alster lake (and surrounding park with restaurants) - Big, well furnished rooms with facilities for self catering - Excellent buffet breakfast available (E 5.00) - Small bar for drinks - Off street parking facilities - Very reasonable rates (E75.00 - E95.00 per double room) - Most of all, a very friendly welcome from owner Bernd Westermann and his staff.

I made a booking for 3 nights on October. Due to delays in my flight I was not able to call them to ask how to get there until 18:45. I was told that as I hadn't advised them by 18:30 my room had been cancelled and they were full. Outrageous. Not only that they charged me for the room. This is double dipping. If I had been charged for the room surely it was mine. I complained on the phone but the rude reception man hung-up.

Last visited in Oct 2012. This time I was arriving after reception was closed. (it closes at 10pm ; 22.00 Uhr) Arrangements made for where to find key - all in order. Again,just keep up the communication with hotel Room clean and comfortable as before, super location - not only 3 minute walk to U Bahn but only 25 minutes to Airport on U & S Bahn.
