The hostel is in an excellent location with views over the harbour and within walking distance of many attractions. Due to construction, it was difficult to find the entrance as the signs pointed towards a path that was closed, but once I found the building it wasn’t much of a detour. The rooms were comfortable and clean with large lockers that had power outlets inside them, which was a nice touch. The free breakfast was also good. However, the hostel was full of families and didn’t have any common areas to socialise, so I wouldn’t recommend it to other solo travellers.

This is a youth hostel with a perfect location. Landungsbruecken is directly connected so you can hop on rail, tube and ferries without much walking. The rooms are simple but clean and the sleep quality was unexpectedly great. An enormous breakfast buffet gives a good start into a day traveling Hamburg.

Here you can find everything you need to enjoy your staying in Hamburg. Clean dorms with private toilets, fast wifi, massive breakfast with a awesome view over the harbour, great position just in front of the subway station, helpful staff and security. If required it is also possible to have lunch or dinner at the hostel for an ok additional price but we preferred to try something outside, so I can't tell. Overall a very good staying, I'd totally recommend to stop here.

Me and my friend stayed 2 nights in this hostel.during the checking we had problem they billed more then booking was showing on our reservation. We paid that(explanation wasn’t acceptable they just said its booking’s fault.
They gave us quick infos about breakfast time and place but no infos about check out time.
We had another problem when we were doing checkout.l was already out they saw me when l was throwing the used sheets and they said nothing. My friend was still in the room me and he tought time checkout at 11am. Cleaners was coming into the room and l tould them my friend is in the room and he is getting ready,l left the room.
Then another woman went to the room shout to my friend in really bad behaviour(he can’t speak german or english) l return from when l was out of the hostel.l tried to explaine she was not even letting me talk or explaine. We paid for extra 1hour late check out extra 10euros+bed behaivor and shouts from responsible lady(T….)
Also during the check in 18euros more then bookings price. We liked the hostel and the rooms but this experience made us totally soo unhappy.

Staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful, we had our £800 camera stolen out of our room, we were the only people in it so was a member of staff/cleaner who had key card access. Dirty, poor location, horrible, the worst hostel I've ever experienced.

I stayed here a few years ago and wasn't too impressed. The building might look nice in the pro-shot photos they have on tripadvisor, but I just didn't enjoy my stay. Still I thought I'd give them another try. Yes, yes- it was my fault for not reading all the fine print. An extra €3.50 per night membership fee, €5.50 nightly if you're over 27, €4.00 for a towel, then the city tax on top of everything. It all added up to about €40 a night for a shared dorm. I wound up cancelling and booked another place I like better. Even with the cancellation fees and new last minute booking, it didn't cost me any more than if I'd stayed at the HI.

This is a very good option to stay in Hamburg. I stayed in a shared mixed gender 6 bed room and it went all very well. There also double rooms available.
The place sits above the railway station on the line that arrives directly from the airport, so it can't be easier to reach.
The location is fantastic, facing the river, and from there you can walk or take public transport for the main areas of Hamburg.
The building has nice architecture and a complete set of facilities, like a very nice snack bar, living and games room and a dinning room with a fantastic view overlooking the river.
Everything is very clean, staff is very helpful and very good WIFI connection.
Will definitely stay here again.

We stayed as a family of five for one night just before Christmas.
We had a six bed dorm room with ensuite and gorgeous views. The room was clean and functional, the shower was surprisingly good (superclean and really powerful, did not expect that in a hostel!) and our whole family enjoyed the communal area which was spacious. The kids loved the giant chessboard.
Breakfast was nice and we were happy to find out that it was served from early on, which helped when waking early thanks to jetlag.
The staff absolutely make this place, every one we spoke to was going out of their way to be helpful and to provide info about the city.
We also stocked up on Hamburg souvenirs which were much better priced here than in any of the shops we checked out.
Would definitely recommend for its location, cleanliness and friendliness of staff!

Traveling alone, I look for a decently priced hostel that has a good atmosphere for meeting people. This is marketed as a youth hostel but it felt more like a hotel. It was nice but the majority of the staff were not pleasant. I felt as though I was doing them a disservice by asking questions. The wifi was horrible and doesn't work anywhere but it's touch and go in the lobby. I wouldn't recommend this hostel to friends.

Visited the hostel as part of ta group. The facilities were in great condition and the staff was super friendly. In front of the hostel is the best view anyone can ask for in Hamburg and the ferries and underground leave from just next to the hostel, yet the hostel is quiet. I can warmly recommend.

yes, the hostel is next to the malotow club. It's only a 15 minutes walk away (1.4 km along the "Reeperbahn") or you take the S-Bahn train S1 from "Landungsbrücken" to "Reeperbahn" (only 1 station).
