I stayed here for one night on a business trip. I mainly chose this hotel due to its proximity to the station. But the fact that they also give you a 3 day pass for all Hamburg transportation is enough to make you decide to stay here.
It's less than a 5 minute walk from the bus station and directly across from the train station. It's also right next to a Block House restaurant. There are plenty of little shops and restaurants nearby. Breakfast is 14 Euro, which I think is pricey, but it's pretty typical for this kind of location. I didn't have breakfast, so maybe their selection justifies the cost.
I've read some other reviews on here that the hotel is kind of a maze to get to some of the rooms. Maybe that's true, but I got lucky. I was able to take the elevator right next to the reception desk and go straight to my room. I'm not sure what their method is of classifying the locations of the rooms, but if you're put off by these reviews, I've added a pic of the elevator that I used. Maybe these are the easiest rooms, and you can request to stay in one of these. I stayed in a classic room, room number 5505.
I can't truly speak to the noise level as I always have my ear plugs when I travel. But I can say that it was pretty quiet until I went to bed, which was around 10pm.
The people at reception are very nice and friendly and speak good English. The hotel offers free wi-fi, a luggage room to which you are given a code, a lounge where you can buy coffee & tea, and a business center. You can also book sightseeing tours at the reception.
The only negative thing I have to say is that the heater just didn't seem to get hot enough. Only part of it got warm, which made the room only a lukewarm temperature. And this is not all that great when it's 1degree outside. Had I stayed more than 1 night, I would have said something.
I definitely recommend this hotel!!

I booked two nights accommodation at hotel fuerst bismarck during the October bank h oliday weekend. The hotel is located next to the main train station of Hamburg. In fact, I saw the hotel when I came out of the exit of the train station upon my arrival in the city center of Hamburg. The price of a nights stay at the hotel is not excessive, and the rooms are comfortable. The hotel provides free travel on the train in Hamburg. I found this very useful, since the day I was leaving, I had a morning flight, and I was able to get the train to the airport quite quickly. The hotel also provides a filling breakfast, to set you up for a day touring the city of Hamburg.

We loved our stay and will happily return in a bit over two weeks at the end of our Interrail. The hotel is old-fashioned in a dignified way: keys are handed over to the reception when you visit the town, there is table service at the breakfast, and the rooms had a nice feeling of good old times. The bed was soft but firm, and the air quality allowed us deep refreshing sleep (modern AC is often harsh on my breathing). Extra thanks for my pre-ordered vegan breakfast!

The hotel is right across the street from the main train station in Hamburg, so very conveniently located. Of course, there are a lot of places to eat within walking distance, and it's very easy to get around the city via the metro. (With my stay, I got two days of free metro use.) Check in was easy. The way to my room was a bit difficult to follow, but I only got turned around once. The room itself was large enough for a bed, a desk, a dresser, and an attached bathroom. The shower had hot water with great water pressure. The bed was comfortable. The TV stations were almost all in German, so I used the wifi to stream TV shows. The only drawback during my stay was that there were people yelling in the streets all the time, so I had to close my window, bu that's nothing to do with the hotel. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and I'd return there again.

This is a good place to stay as a solo female business traveler. The hotel is across from the train station with lots of restaurants and such, all around. I ate at the Block House next door and it was very good.
The room is perfectly adequate with two twin beds attached, a desk and two chairs, spacious bathroom, and plenty of hangers/closet space. There is no AC in this older building but with the windows open and an extra fan, I was ok. The temperatures were around 16-19C while I was there. Any warmer than 19C and it could get uncomfortable. I was pleasantly surprised that I could sleep with the windows open and there wasn’t too much street noise during the night.
Breakfast was very nice with plenty of options and plenty of coffee.
The hotel is in an old building so depending on where your room is, it could be a tad confusing to find it. Up stairs, across halls, up more stairs (or lift) and you get what I’m saying! But it wasn’t bad once you knew where to go. Just know that while there are elevators, there are still stairs that must be taken as well. So if that is a difficulty for you, perhaps another option would be better.
There’s an area on the second floor (floor 1) with a computer and printer and also a coffee machine (costs money) and a water dispenser.
The room has a hot pot and some packets for coffee/tea as well. Coffee cups, water glasses, and some glasses on the bathroom sink are also in the room.
I would probably stay here again if there was Air Conditioning. I know it’s not possible in the old building but it’s something I’d rather have. It actually felt like the heat was on as I came up the stairs. You could feel the heat as you went from floor 1 to 2 and 2 to three. I didn’t go higher than that. As mentioned- with windows and fans I was ok for the most part but I’m glad I was there during not so warm days.
It was easy to catch a taxi/Uber being so close to the train station as well.
For the price, with breakfast, and the location, I think it’s a good option for travelers passing through Hamburg.

Pros: fantastically convenient location opposite Hamburg Hauptbahnhof; really good buffet style breakfast with great choice; friendly and helpful reception staff; comfortable bed and character hotel. WiFi was fast and reliable. The complementary bottle of water was appreciated. Giving three days free travel on the Hamburg Metro was also a very generous touch.
Cons: the proximity to the station means noise at night and in the morning; I couldn't work out how to get the shower to work so had to take baths instead. As the hotel is 19th century it is a bit creaky - I could hear people passing my room.
On the whole, the pros outweighed the cons and while it was a bit noisy, the convenient location and terrific breakfast more than made up for that.

This was a very comfortable short stay in Hamburg in a charming, clean, central hotel that proved a good value.
My single room was fixed with all the necessary basics and seemed to be well thought-out… Little things like hooks on the wall where I would have hoped for one, a bench to set things down, a small desk with a chair of the right heights and plenty of power outlets. The room (mine was on the 3rd floor) was very cozy and quiet and seemed well-insulated from outside. Despite being an older building, everything was clean and in good repair.
It’s also located right near Central Station, and several great food and pub spots nearby as well as museums, galleries and shopping not far out.
Staff were totally friendly and attentive as well, and spoke English (and were happy to forgive my incompetence with German). Being near the station the downside is that there is a fair amount of activity from transients outside, but never did I feel unsafe or threatened.
Would recommend this hotel especially for the solo traveler looking for easy transfers.

This hotel has a great location if you will need public transportation. It is across the street from the Main Train Station (the hauptbahnhof) as well as within a minute or two from the S-bahn, U-bahn and many bus stops. There are a lot of stores and restaurants in the area too. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Breakfast buffet was decent and included hot items. Our concerns are probably based on what Americans expect rather than any real inadequacies. The room was a bit cramped but it was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was large. The outlets were easliy accessible. Our biggest discomfort had to do with the fact that there was no easy way to cool down or air out the room. There is no a/c (which makes sense based on the climate) but the room did get warm and stuffy. We could open some windows but there is a lot of street noise and there were no screens so some bugs came in and I did get bitten. A ceiling or floor fan would have made it a lot more comfortable.

After reading some of the reviews I felt it necessary to clear a few things up. Yes the hotel I a little old and dated but it was clean and perfectly functional. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, which is always great as a solo foreign traveller. The breakfast was fine, not the biggest selection but still very nice. As for the room, I knew what I was getting when I booked, so I didn’t expect coffee making facilities, air con etc. the bathroom was large with a great shower and the room, whilst being a little small was more than adequate. Yes the outside noise was a little loud but due to the location I didn’t expect anything else. Still no problem with the window shut. You could hear people outside the room which was my only minor gripe. All in all a very nice little hotel in a prime location for travel around the city.

I arrived late at the hotel, which is extremely convenient for the railway station, due to a delayed train. The night receptionist was very pleasant and I received a very warm welcome as he explained the hotel protocols. My room was a little on the small side but had everything that was needed. A comfortable bed, a compact bathroom with piping hot shower, and a complementary bottle of water Breakfast was excellent too with a great choice of hot and cold items, fruit and a variety of drinks.
Only sad that my stay was so short, but looking forward to another night there at the end of my expedition. Highly recommended.

I'm not sure what time the S-bahn to the airport starts, I think 4.30am might be too early, you may need a taxi.
I'm sure the Hamburg airport website will have this information.
Hi,
you can borrow an iron and ironing board at the reception.
Best regards
Yes, we do.
