As Hamburgs first and only 5-star design hotel, SIDE is directly located in the heart of the city. Newly renovated in 2018 and built by architect Jan Störmer, designed by Matteo Thun and illuminated by Robert Wilson, space and light have been put perfectly in relation to one another. These are the factors, which essentially shape the heart of the hotel and make the SIDE a sensual location for the urban generation of today. The 168 rooms in different categories are minimalist in style, yet welcoming, comfortable and with a personal touch. Ten "flying" suites on the 10th and 11th floor are all decked out in white. A further highlight of the hotel is the Sky Lounge and the roof top terrace on the 8th floor which offer an impressive view over Hamburg. The [m]eatery bar + restaurant serves dry aged steaks, different self-made burgers and special tartars. Colourblocking is a key theme in the SIDE SPA. This wellness oasis is refreshingly colourful and luxuriously furnished.

5 star German Christmas experience

My girlfriend & I stayed at Side hotel during a trip to visit the Hamburg Christmas markets. The hotel is extremely friendly, the spa facilities are excellent and the rooms are amazing. The hotel location is also extremely easy to get to the airport from and most importantly for us was very close to all of the best Christmas markets in Hamburg. I would also really recommend getting the Lime electric scooters to travel around the city as it’s such a beautiful place. Will 100% return one day.

Great stay

Nice hotel but be aware of breakfast secrets

The breakfast buffet was small with low variety. BUT we found out that you could order special eggs, omelet, pancakes, waffles, juices, coffee etc. that we only found out about by looking at other guests orders. It was not stated anywhere or mentioned by the waiter. So remember to ask for the option or else the breakfast is very unsatisfying.
Very nice rooms, good service, great facilities in rooftop bar and spa.
Luxury hotel indeed!
Right next to city center and public transport (walk 5 min) without being in the middle of center

Hygiene & follow up are the big disappointment in a FIVE-star hotel

First, the location is really on point, major spots can be accessed easily. From the moment we arrived (we drove), until the day we checked out, the service from the bellmen deserve to be recognized!

Now the story starts, we found out there is an obvious dirt on the wall inside the toilet. We are pretty sure it was a HUMAN WASTE from the NOSE. I think this is pretty clear that I do not need to elaborate more. As we arrived in the late evening after a long drive, we decided to bring up to the reception on the next day morning.

Next day, we approached to the reception, and I have shown the picture to the Agent (His name is Tom-Eric). I believed he was shocked. He then apologized immediately and offered a follow up. Appreciated.

When we came back in the afternoon, the room has been cleaned, however, the dirt was still on the wall. And there was a lady who I guess she came to inspect the room. We then showed her the dirt, well, I believe she was shocked as well and she removed immediately. And we asked for a bottle of water since they missed to refill or maybe the hotel do not offer a complimentary water on a daily basis. (But you are one of the five-star hotels in a big city, really?).

Overall, to what we have been received (the level of service) and treated (the follow up), this hotel is way too overpriced and the management should take this matter seriously. Your staffs missed out many chances to do a service recovery.

A truly disappointed stay in such a stunning city.

Good location but a disappointing stay. Will try somewhere else next time

SIDE hotel was a little disappointing for our 1 night stay in Hamburg.

Good : Location, nice sized room

Less Good : Noisy - we could hear the people walk around the floor upstairs and we could hear people in the corridor accessing other rooms to the point where twice I thought someone was knocking at our door but actually it was someone going in a nearby room. The problem is, I think, that the doors seem solid but just do not keep the corridor noise out that you should expect in a good quality hotel.

The mini bar is a total missed opportunity - is big but largely empty with no spirits or proper snack range, I never know why so many hotels miss the opportunity to have a well stocked mini bar to make money and provide a better guest experience.

The double bed was actually two singles so I kept falling down the middle and the pillows were bizarre like inflatable Baloons!

Ordering room service breakfast was an ordeal, my call got transferred twice then the person taking the order put me on hold three times while she has conversations with other people or callers and then after keeping me waiting for 5 minutes put the phone down. When it came they forgot the milk for the granola and one of the orders of eggs so that took another 20 mins to fix.

Overall the service and mini bar issues are fixable but the noise problem is not without a total refurb which would mean I would not stay here again unfortunately. Will try somewhere else on our next stay to Hamburg.

Great to be back

The team at Side truly stood up again with their personal service while also giving us a feeling of safety with all current COVID restrictions.
Also at breakfast they went the extra mile with exceeding our expectations when it came to our dietary requests.
Stall our fav hotel in Hamburg, looking forward to return

disappointed

This was not a pleasant experience, despite there being good people employed throughout at the hotel......this hotel was/ is inept at handling overcharges to my credit card, and did not respond to emails addressing these issues. This failure to address a customer's problems does not bode well of an entity calling itself a "luxury property", and has clouded my opinion of my stay at this hotel. I would suggest that you do not pay for anything in advance (like taxi service), and look for additional charges at check-out. My suite had holes drilled by mistake into the tiles in the shower, and the remedy was simply to caulk over the holes......this should not have occurred as it did. The breakfast was good as was the service. I've had closets bigger than the sauna. Overall, I would suggest that if you want a luxury experience that you look elsewhere.

TOP NICE HOTEL !!

This is amazing! Top modern hotel, perfect location, warm pool, and the service is outstandig. we will be back soon! The breakfast is unreal; You have a huge selection of food, and besides that, the waiter will bring you fresh pressed juices, omelet, pancakes or waffles. YUM!

Perfect stay

Very nice and modern hotel located in city center and in a quiet area. All facilities are great. Try the restaurant, if you are steak person.

Breakfast is great. We can offer almost all types of eegs and coffees from the kitchen

Design in Hamburg

Quality design in Hamburg. Excellent sauna area. Beautiful pool even if the water was a little bit cold. Idromassage could be noisy. Some part of bath door were obsolete. The room has some retouch not well done. Double TV in the some suite area cold be challenging with the remote controller.

Also wir meinen nicht nur Tomate, Gurken, Marmelade, sondern wirklich auch andere Alternativen wie veganen Käse, vegane Wurst / veganer Fleischsalat etc.?
