Stayed at this hotel on my lasy visit to Hamburg.

It is somewhat small as are the rooms. My room only had a shower and no bath (I prefer to have both). The breakfasts are limited in range.

The location is not too bad being close to the outer Alster and a bus stop within a few minutes walk.

It is a art nouveau style building which is quite nice and a bit different to the modern, could be anywhere, type of hotel.

Overall a little too small and basic for my tastes but I'm sure those who like this type of accommodation would be quite happy here.

The hotel advertises itself a a ' little taste of England in the heart of Hamburg'- certainly the owners are charming and helpful English people but the room we were in had a distinct 'colonial' feel with rattan furniture and bamboo 4 poster beds- so not sure if this is the type of England we would want, having been a citizen from a previous British colony ourselves! The room we were in was clean and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was the most basic of the 5 small hotels/guesthouses we stayed in during our 10 day tour of Germany, the breakfast had little choice. Perhaps a good hearty English breakfast might have made the hotel's description of a little taste of England more accurate! This is a B & B rather than a hotel. However for the price and centrality, it is probably suitable for most people. There are rooms on the ground floor- useful for people with mobility access but then do ask for a shower cubicle or you would still need to climb into a bath!

Very friendly family-run hotel close to the east bank of the Outer Alster. Rooms vary in size and decor, but very tasteful and comfortable nonetheless. Super breakfast buffet, but no ham and eggs due to peculiar German regulations. Public transport connections ideal for exploring the whole of Hamburg. Tip: ask the proprietor (he serves breakfast for you!) for special information about how to get where.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights and I really enjoyed my stay. I had a room on the ground floor and it was very quiet- I didn't even hear my other neighbours. The area of the hotel is near a canal and is within walking distance to a U-bahn station and several bus lines. I could walk to/from the hauptbahnhof in 20-25 minutes.

The staff speak english, one member of staff spoke particularly good english. They were always helpful and efficient. I don't generally stay in chain hotels- I like places like this because they have character and other guests/staff have time to chat with you about their life and adventures and so I don't miss the trappings of the bigger hotel chains. The room was quiet and comfortable, the staff were friendly and wanted you to enjoy your stay in their city and the breakfast was nice (including boiled eggs) and I found everything that I needed. WIFI is available for a modest charge.

We stayed here recently on a trip to Hamburg and surrounding area, only staying one night.

The hotel is in a quiet residential area north east of the city centre. It's conveniently located for local train and bus services, and is around 1-1.5 km from the centre.

The building appears to be turn of the 20th century built, with rooms varying in size. However, the hotel is well kept, tidy and clean. Our room was a large basement room, with views to the rear of the property. It was large enough to hold a king-size bed, sofa, coffee table and an ante-room with a desk. The bathroom looked new as well.

Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice from the buffet as you would expect from a German hotel - bread, rolls, cereal, cheeses, hams, and your choice of teas and coffees. They also offer gluten free!

Staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

My only negative comments would be a lack of tea/coffee facilities in the room. Considering they call it a slice of England in Hamburg, pretty much all hotels at this price offer tea/coffee facilities in England. They may have offered tea/coffee for free in lieu of this, but I wasn't aware if they did. Hopefully, the owners can clarify.

My only other comment would be that you'd need to be careful when booking a room as to the size. We saw a single room being made-up which was very limited in space. However, I'm sure the owners will help you choose a good room for you.

To summarise, a great place to stay and would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet location and doesn't mind a short walk to the city centre.

We loved staying at the Miramar. It felt like home. The staff was very efficient and friendly. Breakfast was great. We stayed in a very large room in the basement, that was not so nice, dark and cold and difficult to get to. But the other rooms are very nice. It an old villa done up as a hotel. Very quiet and wonderful neighborhood. Good connection to the city.

We were looking for mid-price lodging and the Hotel Miramar seemed to fit the bill. It seemed a little removed from central Hamburg. But this wasn't an issue at all! It's close to the subway in one direction and several convenient buses in another. Situated on a canal near a large lake made it great for an early morning walk. Joggers will love the location! Rooms were large and clean. Breakfast was good. The front desk isn't always staffed--early or late. No one was there to take payment when we departed at 8am, for example, except the woman managing breakfast. But we found it a comfortable and quiet home for our four nights in Hamburg.

Situated in a pleasant, quiet residential area this hotel is very easy to reach from the airport. Excellent and convenient transport links to the city (3/5 Minutes to U-bahn;1/2 minutes to the bus). Our room was furnished in an antique style with a massive bathroom and looked out onto the garden. Staff speak English and are extremely friendly and helpful with information, or making arrangements with restaurants etc. The buffet breakfast is exceptionally good, providing cheeses, meats, fish, fruit and cereal as well as eggs, both scrambled and boiled. Coffee is superb,
You can also buy coffee or tea and cake during the day. No tea or coffee making facilities are provided in the room and this would lift the Miramar from excellent to superb. Also perhaps some additional small toiletries in the bathroom would be an extra touch.
