I booked a night here as i was passing through Hamburg.
The hotel is excellent and good value for the price.

I arrived on a late flight and the location opposite the main station was perfect and made my departure by train the following day very easy.

Really friendly helpful staff and the room was great with a view of the Station Clocktower. A quick walk across the road and through the station brings you to the start of the main shopping area.

The hotel has a nice bar area to enjoy a Weiß Bier

I would definitely book this hotel again and next time bring my sports clothes to take advantage of the facilities

We arrived in Hamburg by train and were pleased that we could see the front door of the hotel from inside the station (it is directly opposite). The hotel was undergoing some refurbishment with scaffolding and plastic sheeting covering the facade, so presumably all rooms on the front were out of commission, thus our room was on the back, with a view of what looked like a water slide(?) The reception staff were friendly and helpful and our quite large double room was comfortable and (at 180 euros B&B) in our view, quite reasonable. The breakfast spread was extremely comprehensive (including waffles made to order if that's your thing). We would recommend it, but I'd also recommend you check out the price/availability/reviews of the Reichshof, an art deco hotel a couple of doors down whose bar we were recommended to visit (however if the rooms are as expensive as the drinks in the bar I doubt we'd stay there).
The Europaischerhof DOES have a restaurant, but it is disconnected from the hotel. Possibly because of the refurbishment we were told that you COULD get to it inside the hotel but best to walk out the front door and down to the corner where the outside tables were located. The food was good, but overpriced, and the staff appear to be incentivised to slip extras onto your bill that you didn't ask for. Since you pay separately from your hotel bill it can't really be regarded as an integral part of the hotel, so I'd check out alternatives before defaulting to their Paulaner restaurant.

The staff was very friendly. The location next to the Hauptbahnhof was excellent and while my room was on the street side, there was virtually no noise from the street. The breakfast was fairly good as well. Unfortunately the hotel building itself seems fairly worn-out. What made me take away one star was the room's wall-to-wall carpet (from the 70s?) which was very dirty. It was so dusty that I started sneezing immediately in the room and was also full of disgusting large stains.

The location near the main train station may excite people, but not me.
It's now just before 2 a.m. and I can't sleep.
Constant traffic noise from cars and rail vehicles, plus the screaming of night owls.
The windows offer only minimal soundproofing.
The beds are far too soft, you sink into them.
In this hotel category I would also expect more than a small kettle with a few sachets of tea and coffee, drunk from disposable paper cups with wooden sticks.
The hotel garage costs an unbelievable €26, electric cars and hybrids are not allowed in.
The so-called parking service is based on the handing over of the car keys so that the vehicles can be re-parked at any time, at the same time a sign indicates that no liability is accepted for objects in the car.
So take the full risk or empty the car overnight?!
What do liability or comprehensive insurance companies actually say if I leave my car to strangers who I don't even know whether they have a valid driver's license?
Liability for damage when reparking?
Now I'm curious to see what I'll be offered for breakfast, for €25 you can expect a lot.....

I’ve been visiting the hotel with regularity since 2014 for business trips. In all of these years I have enjoyed my time here. The staff are always very kind and friendly doing their best to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are as described. I stay in single room type which is well sized with a modern TV, minibar refrigerator, good sized work desk and bathroom. Always very clean and fresh. The room windows open which is nice for fresh air and controlling the room temperature. The breakfast buffet is consistently excellent. Beyond the usual buffet items, you may have omelette, pancakes etc. prepared to order. Coffee and juices, as required, and a good choice of cheese, fruits and pastries/breads. I’m usually out all day working, so I look forward to return to the hotel for a drink (or 2) at the beautiful piano bar. Many great memories in the bar over the years. The range of refreshments available is wide, soft drinks, beers, wines, spirits and freshly prepared cocktails. Courteous and friendly service is provided always.
In days past, the piano player was present more often, I’m sure this will return as the city becomes busier after the pandemic. When present the piano is played with great skill, completing the ambience of the bar perfectly.
This review is long overdue. However, after my visit this week when I was again greeted with a warm smile and I enjoyed another super stay, it was time that I said all of the above.

BTW, I rode the water slide once, a few years ago. Very fast and exciting. The leisure facilities are under renovation now and I look forward to see the updated facilities.

Stayed at the Hotel Europaeischer Hof, opposite Hamburg central train station due to its perfect location.
Standard old school business hotel with a now dated and faded charm.
Small single room with free wifi and usual facilities.
Good filling breakfast with omelete cooked to order and fresh coffee in the small and very busy breakfast room.
Very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly hotel staff.
One to remember in Hamburg.

This hotel really deserves its 4 stars. My single room held a large plate of tasty fruit including a kumquat and a kiwi thoughtfully sliced in half when I arrived. Bathrobes are available on request from the spa. The bed was very comfortable. The staff are peerlessly helpful. The breakfast buffet with delicacies such as smoked salmon, fresh-baked rolls and bread, and an omelet bar set me right up for days of exploring with the Hamburg public transport pass thoughtfully provided to guests.

We booked this hotel for the Spa but then found out that it has been closed for the last 4 years and will "most likely" re-open after summer 2023. The staff is quite rude and the atmosphear feels very old. Also, it might be a good time to invest in new air conditioning, it is almost non-existent.

Stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights 21st June / 23rd June and my stay was faultless. I had booked a single room, but was upgraded to a double. The room was very large and spotless, with a lovely bathroom with a large walk in shower. The breakfast was excellent with many hot and cold choices. The breakfast room was lovely and the staff were always clearing away the used plates etc. The staff at the check in were always smiling, and were extremely polite. I have to say the breakfast staff were the same. Be aware that the room key envelope also caters for your free travel ticket. This is one of the best Hotels I have ever used. Other Hotels could learn from this Hotel, re how it treats their guests. A faultless stay...well done to all members of staff.

Bad experience: premise we travel with a dog.
Before booking we read the conditions of the hotel that provides for the acceptance of animals with a possible supplement, we book on booking a room and just arrived we are charged for the dog 30 euros ok... but also mandatory upgrade to 40 euros to have a room suitable for the dog (not written, not specified anywhere).
The room considered "superior" literally smelled like a sewer, it's okay to pay a supplement for the dog, I also pay an upgrade but give me with 70 euros more than expected a smelly room even not. The bathroom literally smelled rotten.
We asked for an explanation from the staff who in an extremely rude way denied the smell of sewer claiming that it came from outside.
If you are rude and rude and deny the evidence we are not stupid. I really hope no one wants to make a reservation at this place of bums.
Too bad you chose your hotel.

It's about 2,5 kilometers. So I guess it depends. If you have luggage and such, I would suggest you hop on a bus or a U-train for the 20-minute ride. The hotel anyway gives you a free 3-day ticket for public transport within the city.
