Although the room was exceptionally large and we had a river facing view, which was nice, that’s about all I can say to encourage you to stay here.
At first I thought we’d been given a room for a disabled person as the bed was so low to the ground, but the bathroom was not suited to disabilities so it was just an exceptionally low bed, given that the average German man I’ve seen seem to be well over 6ft tall, even I am 5’7”, I found it uncomfortable to get in and out of.
The wifi in our room was pretty much non existent. You know how a wifi icon is rainbow shaped, our intermittent connectivity was the little dot at the bottom of the rainbow, if I stood right at the entrance door.
You have to ask to have your room cleaned and if you forgot, too bad. Our room wasn’t attended to the 3 nights we were there but I managed to get our bins emptied, once. There was a space for a fridge, but no fridge, no phone either to call reception to request room clean.
The bathroom, while nice, had the toilet paper holder right in the splash zone from the shower, so everyday we had wet toilet paper.
We didn’t eat at the hotel, breakfast was €25 each so we went to the street that is a 2 min walk away and has breakfast for €8.
The staff were all very pleasant.
All in all, there is nothing wrong with this hotel and Hamburg generally is not cheap, (we were hit with an unexpected city tax upon checkout, which we have not paid in any other German city), but I think for the price, things could have been better.

This is a hotel where most things work, but dont look for anything extra. There is no AC and during a very warm couple of days we experienced the rooms incredibly hot and they didnt have a fan to help us out.
Location is really good, walking distance to everything and amazing restaurants in the street right behind. Parking is also really good.

Really liked this place. Main building faces the water. There’s a courtyard in the back that faces onto a nice quiet street. Has parking for maybe ten cars, I think parking was €18 per night. Staff were nice. Place itself was charming and had good place-energy. Room was clean and nice. Also not very expensive. Next time we’re going to Hamburg I’m definitely going to see if this place is available.

We paid for 3 standard rooms. 2 of our party had this, it seems one got upgraded presumably due to room availability. The staff member seemed very distracted checking us in and a smile wouldnt have hurt! They did not inform us other than 2 of our party were in one building, the other in main one at the top floor. The top floor room was their suite, but upon arrival a very strong smell of damp/dust hit you in the face. In places there was mould and wallpaper starting to peel away. I went to look out the window to see multiple i believe ladybirds sitting around the window! I counted 5. This had me worried about bed bugs, although none were found that i could see. Not ideal! The view was fantastic from the room which was perhaps the best part about it. The bed was comfortable as were the sheets. The room cleaner knocked and my door and just barged in just after 9 in the morning, they surely wait a few seconds before attempting to come in! Having then shown this room to my friends, they were very upset as having paid the same price as me, they should have been at least told by reception the fact i had a different room with upgrade. Now to there normal single rooms, the bed was rock solid and a very small room, what they called a duvet didnt fit the bed properly. No pillows on arrival, had to get some! It did the job we wanted it to, a roof over our heads but there are hotels at very similar price points that would be far better! Only stay here if you have to, needs lots of work done to the property.

I arrived early evening, in the dark, luggage lost in transit.

I was given a room in the older section of the building, which was quite nice. Everything worked as it should and the bed delivered a good night's sleep.

Breakfast, although not usually included, was a great start to the day.

On the second day my luggage arrived and was put in storage - waiting for my return on a day of sightseeing.

Had a great spacious room on 2nd floor overlooking the Alster and with a medieval bed and extra couch for extra guests. Quiet and clean. Crhistmas chocolates outside the door as a little surprise on the 24th. Very good breakfast. Kind and helpful staff all around.

The room was fine, kind of small but had all that was necessary.

The staff was ok but some seemed to have problems to understand English. A special mention anyway must go to Stephanie, which provided good advices along with a much wider knowledge of the English language.

The breakfast it's served till 12, which actually makes it easier if you want to get up late.

The restaurant had courteous staff and provided good service and nice food.

The location is the only bad news, is 10-15 mins away from the Hauptbahnhof, but is on the wrong end in matter of sightseeing and the area is kind of dodgy if you wander away from the main street behind the hotel.

This is a really nice hotel very close to the beautiful Alster Lake in Hamburg, and just a short walk from a good lively street with lots of cafes and bars. The hotel itself is nice and quiet with no noise coming in from outside. You can also walk to the hotel from the train station in about 20 minutes. The building is an old one, but very well kept, and then there is a extension with more modern rooms behind it. The room I had was very nicely designed with zebra striped theme on all the furnishings and walls. Also it had some very funky lights. It was clear a lot of thought and care had gone into the design of the room and its fittings. There was a small bathroom with a good hot shower.
Breakfast was very good - a wide selection of meats and eggs and salads. And some very nice hot coffee. The staff were friendly and helpful, and this hotel makes an ideal base for exploring the city of Hamburg.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice hotel in Hamburg either for business or pleasure.

Requested rooms close together on booking and again directly with the hotel as we were traveling with a large young family. I got rooms on separate floors. Which is not ideal.

I contacted the hotel directly to ask them to set up the rooms in a certain way ie one adult plus 2 kids in one room and one adult and three kids in another room. On checkin I was told that the booking I had made was for two adults in one room and three adults in another. So we were short a bed in one room.

I also made a special request for a birthday cake to be left to the room this did not happen.

On checking out of the hotel the receptionist requested payment again for the stay even though I paid on check in. Only I had the receipt for payment, that could have caused a major issue.

I was on the third floor with young children and there was a door that opens in with a small railing to stop falling over(not safe at all in my opinion). The door was also not working as it seemed to be coming off its hinges.

The pillows were awful and there is no air conditioning in the room.

I would not recommend at all I did not have a good experience.

A great location , with the lake on one side and the cool area of St Georg on the other means this is great for location. The main rail station within walking distance is another bonus. The room we had was spacious and clean and staff were polite and attentive throughout our stay. Would recommend and will probably stay here again.
