Detailed Reviews
All in all the hotel is quite good, unfortunately some shortcomings put it to average for us.
Upon check in, was asked at the reception whether we were Covid vaccinated 2 or 3 times. The certificate itself was barely looked at and no QR code scan was done. During our 3 nights stay, this was correctly done when entering Restaurant for breakfast, so why not at first contact point Reception?
Upon entering our room (336), immediately noticed that it was rather cold inside. Normal if a window is open and aircon set at lowest level…
Noticed as well that some empty shopping paper bags and some used brochures had most probably been forgotten during cleaning. In fact the bags were rather big and could not be overseen…
Worse however were 2 used plastic cups in the bathroom, once again impossible to oversee them!
The room itself was quite ok if you do not consider some stains on carpet and chair, however the very small wardrobe is kind of bad joke. ONE small storage compartment for a double room and no other storage possibilities in the room is far from standard!
Breakfast on Sunday morning was rather chaotic with a completely full restaurant. Why not attribute time slots in order to avoid such a situation? This is done in some hotels and is rather helpful.
On the day of our departure, somebody knocked at our room door at 08.45 am. Quite astonished that it was the cleaning lady who asked at what time we would leave... Had never experienced such acting in any other hotel also considering the check-out time of 11.00 am

Great views from the Executive Room over the city. Bed was very comfortable and the bar area is good for working or relaxing.
I booked the Executive King Room because I liked the layout in the pics (particularly because it had a sofa). When I arrived, the room layout was so different I actually had to phone reception and check it *was* an Executive Room (there was no sofa or divided 'living area', just a table and a couple of chairs stuck next to the bed. Compare the image attached to the one they use on advertising). Cleaning was also not as thorough as I would have liked. We also weren't really given any basic details, such as check in/out times, whether there was food available, bar opening times, when we checked in.

Hi D5705RFmelissas, Thank you for your review and for staying with us. We always try our best to meet our guests accommodations as we love taking care of all of our guests needs. While we are delighted to read you found the bed very comfortable and liked the bar area, I am sorry the cleanliness of the room didn't match your expectations and we missed the mark on the level of customer service you received. I have shared your comments with our management, so they may address this internally. Many thanks for your feedback. We hope to see you again soon! Sincerely, Connie D Case Manager IHGService

Holiday Inn Hamburg – Berliner Tor Hotel is a nice four star hotel well situated near the Berliner Tor Subway Station (U-bahn) & City Rapid Train Station (S-bahn), and you are very quickly to the City Center or other parts of Hamburg as well as you reach relatively quickly and directly the Hamburg Helmut Schmidt Airport.
I found this hotel very good and relatively economical (for an expensive city like Hamburg) as it is also well connected by public transport and with the Hamburg Card you can go rapidly everywhere and therefore avoid or eliminate the use of expensive Taxis.
The Holiday Inn Hamburg – Berliner Tor is a comfortable hotel, very clean, and above all is marked by excellent service of the staff throughout the hotel.
The only thing I found a bit disturbing was the public works around the Berliner Tor Station and near the hotel and because of that we were obliged to make some unwilling detours. Also I found the extra charge for breakfast quite expensive, also for members.
In summary I liked very much my stay at the Holiday Inn Hamburg – Berliner Tor Hotel [(excellent service, convenient location, less expensive ) and I have no fear to suggest it and to say that I would stay again if next time I will be in Hamburg.

We love you Yeah Yeah Yeah holiday inn Berliner tor!
We stayed at another hotel (wishing we hadn’t) - came into Holiday for breakfast and evening meals for almost a week.

we have booked the hotel for 4 nights with breakfast, but we ate breakfast outside the hotel and paid extra, Because of quality and quantity of the food.
Nobody comes for cleaning and we should self call the stoff. quality of the shampo is under zero, and the bed is not comfortable too.
I do not recommend this hotel to anybody. Find your joinment in another hotel.

Hi donyaz747, I am glad you left feedback. Thanks for giving us a try! We promise a combined sense of comfort and happiness with touches of real wonder and delight for our guests, and I'm sorry that we were not able to meet your expectations. I am sorry your stay was unsatisfactory because of breakfast and housekeeping lapses. I also regard your comment about the bed and shampoo were not up to your liking. We continuously strive to provide 100% satisfactory stays to our guests and I've looped in management about your comments. I am confident that they will take this seriously should there be plans for future improvements. I have also sent you a private message to gather more details about your stay. I hope you give us the chance to host you again next time. All the Best, June A. Case Manager IHGService

I booked a certain room - queen size bed. It was a must for me. When I reached a hotel they informed me that according to them I did not book queen size but standard room with an option of that bed, but they can not provide that. They did not informe about that fact prior to arrival so I could find some other hotel. I think there were more people with such problem, so it looks like a standard approach. Beds are also far from being comfortable. You can not even join them because some architecture "guru" put a shelf between them. I do not recommend that place unless you want to have summer camp experience with separate beds. There are no shops and restaurants around. I would only recommend that hotel if you are traveliing with a mate and want to explore hamburg.

Hi Łukasz J, Thank you for taking the time of the day to share your feedback about your hotel experience. We want to leave you a favorable impression and an outstanding time while you visit us. We would love to share your comments with the relevant department for review, and I trust that improvement in guest satisfaction will be kept in mind. I also sent you a private message to ask for more information about your stay. Again, thank you for making us aware. I look forward to your response. Best, Zel N. Case Manager IHGService

This hotel is just one stop on the U bahn and a short walk from the main station in a quiet area. The hotel reception area was comfortable and attractive. The staff very helpful. Our room was a good size, clean and very comfortable bed . The breakfast was very good with lots of choice, hot and cold in an attractive dining room. We found a good Lebanese restaurant nearby and had no issues with the hotel at all, clean modern and friendly staff. Comparatively it was a reasonable price.

The parking in this hotel is very bad. The parking garage is shared with another hotel, and there are no where near enough spaces. The garage has a fee of 25€ a day, and is full all the time. This means that you have to park on a sketchy street.

🥇A good place to stay.
Date : 20 August 2024
Price paid : 96 Euros including breakfast
Spacious and enjoyable stay.
The room had large windows that can be opened slightly to allow fresh air into the room. A good speed internet and I will personally be adding it to my list of top 5 hotels to stay at in terms of value, comfort & location.
Rooms: 4 | Service: 4 | Location: 3
Rooms: The queen sized room (pictured) was a nice and roomy size. Clean, modern etc. featuring a flatscreen TV, safe, spacious bathroom, Air con, ironing board, hairdryer etc.
Nearby activities: The 7th floor of this hotel includes a GYM, and while I wasn't able to view it myself. The hotel had numerous images showing the facilities.
Safety: The room featured a small safe to store things like phones and passports etc. The area can seem slightly unsettling at night time, but that's just Hamburg in general.
Walkability: I walked from Berliner Tor train station to the hotel at night time. And it is easy to do if you know the way. The area is currently seeing a large amount of redevelopment and construction. And so many of the paths and walkways are diverted at the moment.
Food & drinks: The breakfast was a good spread of different options. As well as offering things such as hand sanitiser.
Noteworthy details: The shower water pressure was underwhelming. But this is quite common in a number of German hotels. And the pillows supplied were very tall/fat
Hotel highlights: Great value

We stayed here from the 1st to the 6th of Jan. Our room was clean, spacious and offered many comfortable features (like indipendent heater, lots of plugs - even usb ones - and a hairdrier).
The breakfast is amazing and offers anything you wish to start your day with. If you walk through the park Berliner Tor station (served by the S1 that goes to the airport and many other lines and buses) is only 5 minutes away on foot.
Very high rice-quality ratio!
We loved our time here and would definitely recommend.
