We were delighted at our overnight stay at this small, friendly, personal feeling hotel!
It was everything we wanted...reasonably priced, personal and friendly staff, super clean, unusal amenities at this price point including a minibar, very quiet and comfortable, great location right at the harbor and a hot and cold breakfast buffet that was fantastic!
There is a cafe/bakery and grocery store directly across the side road that this hotel is located on. It took us 5 minutes to walk here from the train station and later another 5 minutes to walk to where the ferry took us across the harbor to see Lion King!
Honestly...why would we stay anywhere else when in Hamburg? We'll definitely be back!

Hotel is located at the city center near Elba river ,at the souronding is many Spanish and Portugal restaurants ,hotel staff are very friendly ,breakfest is perfect and rooms are very comfortable and wi-fi always working :)

Apologies for the late review but the hotel was not located on TA when I tried to enter review before. This hotel sits opposite the River Elbe and is only a short two minute walk to the Landungsbrucke U & S bahn stations which makes it an ideal location for getting around the city. It is only one stop away on the U bahn from St.Pauli station and the Reeperbahn, a very busy road full of clubs, pubs and restaurants and well worth a look. The hotel itself was good value at around 60 Euros per night excluding breakfast. The room (single) was smallish but clean and bright. Staff were quite helpful and I would recommend this place for a short term stay to anyone wanting to explore Hamburg for a couple of days.

Stayed here for about 2 nights. The hotel is located 5 minutes walk near the main U-Bahn/S-Bahn stop at the station and water side. It is a basic hotels with rather small, but clean, rooms. Beds are hard, but good enough for me, I liked it and slept very well. As said all is small but everything is there and it is clean and good furniture. It has 4 floors with (assuming) a stair to the 5th floor, elevator goes from 0-4 floor. Breakfast is in the same area as where there is a restaurant. Prices of the food are decent (did not have dinner) the breakfast is very good to what you pay for (9 euros). Personnel is very friendly. I just had a good stay and would defiantly return. Wi-Fi is average my room was not noisy.

Let's start with what the Hafentor Hotel is not. It is not a five star property with luxurious finishes and furnishings. What it is a homey little hotel with comfortable beds, serviceable rooms and baths, and very good breakfast buffet.
The way you book online is to go to their site and fill out a form then wait for a confirmation email. It's a little different from regular sites but it works just fine. They're not far from the the Landungsbruken station which you can get to directly from the airport. They even have a little elevator to use for getting your luggage up and down. I had a single room and it was just perfect for one person. Bring your earplugs though because like most of these little hotels, the walls are thin.
The breakfast buffet is 9€ and well worth it. It has a large spread of meat, cheeses, and bread along with hot items like bacon, sausages, and eggs. It's a great start to the day. I was very glad to have booked this hotel even though there were not a lot of reviews or pictures but I'm adding mine to help out.
