In 2001 Sunflower Hostel Berlin opened its doors for guests from all over the world - an island of independent budget accommodation. Sunflower Hostel still embraces the idea of "Old School" attitude of offering a bed in a central location and a multicultural, creative and colourful environment, where communication, cultural exchange and meeting other travelling guests is more important than a television in the room.

When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.

The location is perfect, you're walking distance far from train , metro and bus stations. Berlin is in general well connected city so yo're not going to get lost. If you like to walk as I do, you'll notice that you're in alternative part of Berlin which is really cool. You can

First time in a hostel, 2nd time in Berlin. Really chilled hostel, staff are real friendly/halepful. Good vibe, rooms nice and beds are comfy! Really good location with great transport links and loads of food/bars around! Would definitely stay here again.

They are checking every single person getting in like it’s a 7 star hotel. And one person per bed. So if you are married or have girlfriend/boyfriend you basically can’t sleep in the same bed. RIDICULOUS! You can’t even get ready with you friends at hostel before the party

Hello, thanks for your Feedback. That is actually true, if you book one bed in a dormitory you´ll get one bed in a dormitory - I´m sorry for the misunderstanding. In case you book 2 beds in a dormitory under different names we do our best to accommodate you in the same room and in gereneral this isn´t a problem as Long as we are informed by the guests upfront. If you want to stay private with 2 persons we recommend to book a double room. Due to security reasons we only let registered guests inside the Hostel - we are sure that nobody wants to stay in a Hostel where everybody can enter the room without any registration? We have a big Lobby to meet friends, and your friends are of course very welcome! Yes, we do have some houserules which every guest needs to know otherweise our non smoking Hostel would turn into a smoking Hostel; maybe nobody would check out in time which means new guests can´t check in in time. You see our houserules make sense for both sides and therefore it is important to know them. I´m very sorry to hear that our staff didn´t treat you friendly at the Check In. We truly want to excuse us for the behaviour of the receptionist you described. We do have single bathrooms/toilets for male and female which you can of course lock. We also have common shared bathrooms/showers either for male or female. If you use the shared men bathroom which is equipped with 3 seperated shower cabines you can´t lock the door, true, otherwise only one person could use the bathroom even if 3 person at the same time could use it. Plesae keep this in mind if you book a room with a common shared bathroom in a Hostel. It´s a pity to hear that your stay with us wasn´t alright but we are happy to hear that our friends from the Kiez Hostel saved your holidays in Berlin. All the best Ulrike

As first time customers, we very happy with the hostel services & fair prices. The atmosphere is dynamic without being annoying like many other hostels. Position is very central, many interesting places are reachable by foot. Will be back!

Esta es la habitación en la que me hospedé. Es espaciosa y tenía un pequeño balcón.
Berlin has 2 international airports: From Tegel (TXL): The TXL Express Bus goes straight to “Alexanderplatz”. From there catch the S-train. Any S- train heading East will reach the station “Warschauer Str.” after 3 stops. Get off at “Warschauer Str.”, and you will end up at a street-bridge, take a right and turn into the very next street on the left hand side after the bridge: Helsingforser Str.; walk down along the wall and you will find us on the right hand side, house-number 17. From Schoenefeld (SXF): Take the local train RE7 – RB14 at the airport’s own train station and get off at Ostbahnhof, then head to the S-train-platforms. Any S- train heading East will reach the station “Warschauer Str.”, only one stop. Get off at “Warschauer Str.”, and you will end up at a street-bridge, take a right and turn into the very next street on the left hand side after the bridge: Helsingforser Str.; walk down along the wall and you will find us on the right hand side, house-number 17. We're located in Friedrichshain, neighboured by Prenzlauer Berg, Mitte and Kreuzberg, it offers the perfect starting point for your exploration of Berlin. All tourist attractions are either in walking distance (Karl-Marx-Allee, the East Side Gallery and Oberbaum Bridge), or can easily be reached with public transportation (Alexanderplatz is 3 stops by metro). Friedrichshain itself is known for its great variety of culture, leisure- and nightlife. Numerous bars, cafés, theatres and eateries to suit every budget, as well as legendary clubs such as the “Berghain”.

We will land at 11 pm at Schoenefeld airport what should we do to get to the hostel?
Do you have a common kitchen for travellers? Supermarkets nearby?
can i leave my baggage before check-in ??
Our reception is 24h open. Check in is at 4 pm (unless we have a free room even earlier) and Check out is at 11 am. In the meantime we provide a luggage room, where you can leave your bags while you explore Berlin or hang out in our lobby.
