The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
This boutique Hotel has everything going for it. It's in an extremely good area with a walk to many restaurants and public transport at your door. Including the Hop On Hop off bus. The room I had was very small, however it had everything anyone would require. TV, Wifi, hot water.....and spotlessly clean. The breakfast included was very beautiful and lots of choices. Language can be a little issue, but to be expected when travelling. I was told that some rooms can be noisy, however mine was not. I had 5 nights, and felt it was a great stay at an acceptable price.I was travelling solo and felt very safe and comfortable.
Fabulous, fresh breakfast selection. Friendly reception staff, good quiet room. Even received a packed breakfast to take as we had an early flight. It's funky, clean. Walking distance to river and the area is stylish, good choice of restaurants, cafes. Adjacent restaurant is part of Hotel 38 and our meal was very good. I've been meaning to write this review since we stayed in October, and would stay again! Public transport stops outside - buy a Berlin card to make your trip easier.
Can’t fault this hotel - ideal location one minute walk to/from Oranienburger St S-Bahn - central position to most places - Hotel was very clean and comfortable - from other reviews contacted hotel and asked for courtyard side room and was given 202 - very quiet side of hotel and not disturbed once - ran out of shower gel and called reception and it was replaced within 5 mins - breakfast ideal as commented by many others - would definitely return here again
I was actually surprised how modern and well looked after this hotel. Everything was very clean and you could see the attention to detail. Everything has been said about its location. I must admit I have room at the back of the hotel and it was extremely quiet. I liked it and would stay there again.
The location is great- we stayed two nights and didnt use any transport at all - the museum island and river are approx 10 minutes walk. We booked a double room with mini bar and wooden flooring - we were given a twin with no mini bar and carpet. The room had a large wet room attached. The bedding was crisp and the room spotless. We ate in the hotel restaurant which was superb BUT the noise from the restauarant was horrendous as our room opened onto central courtyard, it woke us several times - when mentioned at reception the reply was that must be nice for you!! Breakfast was buffet style, plentiful and faultless. We were able to leave our luggage on arrival before 9am and following check out before we left, however, whilst this is in a locked room you are provided with the key to store and retrieve it yourself whilst we did not have any problems would have been happier knowing bags were 100% safe

I've had a look online and there appear to be around 60 Christmas markets! There's a famous one on Gendarmenmarkt, which is around 1.5 km away - or even nearer to a couple of stops on the U6 underground line. The hotel is very near to this line. Hope this helps.
