The Grqnd Hyatt Berlin is my stay of choice when in Berlin. It’s Potsdamer Platz location is ideal for the main sights, connects to the airport and many terrific eateries. The room and breakfast quality are excellent and it’s small enough to give personal service.

Nothing bad to say about this hostel (which feels more like a hotel)

Service: The second we stepped into the hostel Ben was there to greet us with a smile! He was VERY informative and sat down with us to explain tours, rooms, and the city itself. All the staff were amazing and so much fun. Bar was stocked and had happy hour every night. Was a relaxing atmosphere and at the same time we were able to start the night in the hostel and eventually head out. Breakfast was 5,50Euro but it was worth the price. Tons of food and was available until 2pm

Rooms: AMazing! No bunk beds, we stayed in a 6 bed with ensuite. Shower pressure was good and hot water all the time. Hairdryers in the washroom was a bonus!! Lockers were large. Beds were comfortable and clean. (worth the 3Euro linen fee)

Tours: It was very convenient to have tours available right from the hostel. We did the pubcrawl and it was fun, met alot of people, and gave you a chance to see the side of Berlin nightlife that is more underground than main stream. Good time had by all! Christian ran an excellent tour!!!! We did the bike tour of Berlin as well. 15euro was well worth the all day excursion. We only had a few days in Berlin so it was nice to see Everything and be able to take pictures and stop. Ben was a super good guide and it was nice to have just a small group of 10. We also did the walking tour to another neighbourhood to visit a flea market, large outdoor karaoke setup which was amazing. Great day spent out and again, having a small group allowed us to take our time and do what we wanted to do.

Location: Right next to a tram station so it was convenient. Coming from Berlin Hbf main station, an easy 10min bus ride and walked a block or two. Easy to find and not too far from anything. Tram was convenient at night as we used it every night to go to bars/clubs.

Overall an amazing time had at this hostel. Friendly staff, clean rooms, beautiful building, good location and decent price. Would defintely reccommend it and will hopefully be back in the future.

Loved this hostel! It was clean, safe, and quiet, well-located, and had a great community feel (excellent common space, activities, etc.). Felt very safe as a solo female traveler and had no trouble whatsoever. Nothing negative to say--highly recommended!

Just like every other hostel in Berlin, their system is biased towards their workers and not the clients. For example they offered me to do the laundry for 9 Euros when I got my clothes back they smelt very bad and worse than their initial condition. When I complained about it , they were like “what do you expect us to do” , and they acted like it was not their responsibility. They simply didn’t care about the complaint and never admitted that their laundry system is trash. In Berlin, (Hostels e specifically )expect to not get your full rights, and unfortunately you can’t do much about it. Workers will side with each other to make you look wrong, till you’re just hopeless about getting your rights or what you paid for. Also their shower system is extremely irritating which they never mention. If you use the shower it cuts off the water every 30 seconds so you don’t consume much water. If you’re taking a dump the electricity goes off and it’s just you in a black dark space. You pay money, but they rip your rights. These are the systems in Berlin Hostels. It’s just a pure shame.

It is very nice the hostal is still open for business travelers and give the service for those in need for. The only minus is that some of the travelers live there now for months and the hostal looks like a camp :( . Luckily for me that gentleman at the reception understood my point and move me to another room. The surrounding area is not the best at lest at the urban hostel.

I stayed in a twin share room. Everything was fine and kind of what you expect from a hostel - beds were clean and comfortable, slightly tatty furniture but does the trick and had clean bathrooms. There were 24/7 staff at reception which was good, a secure luggage storage room and a reasonable breakfast buffet. Overall everything in the hostel was perfectly fine and the price is good. The location wasn't ideal as it wasn't nearby any cool areas. However, it's not too far from a metro station (about 5-10 minutes walk) and Berlin has a great public transport system. If you need somewhere as a base just for sleeping and you spend your days out and about - this will do the trick.

I stayed at the Grand for a long weekend with friends in the dorm on the top floor.
I new I had been bitten when I woke on Saturday morning as I was a little itchy -what I didn't realise just how much. On returning back home I'm covered in bites waste up and all over my arms. You see from researching these little chaps you don't start to see the full coverage of bites until 3-4 days after they feast.
The trouble I have now is finding out if I have brought these little monsters back to my family home as they travel in your luggage not so much on the person.
I can't say I've ever experienced an invasion of bed bugs and I travel a lot with work and pleasure.
Very disappointed by the whole experience and shall be even more if they have travelled back with me.
It would make my skin crawl to even set foot in this place again - such a pity as we did meet some really pleasant staff and people travelling.

This is a great hostel in Kreutzberg. The rooms are clean, as well as bathrooms. The staff is nice. The explain you some basics about Berlin. As you check-in they offer you a welcome drink (tea, coffee). It is near the metro station, and the bus M41 has a route near-by that takes you to Potsdamer Platz. They have a wi-fi that is good all over the hostel. The downside is the fact that they do not have a kitchen where one could prepare a breakfast or lunch, etc. This is the first hostel I've been at, that does not have a kitchen. They do offer an all-you-can-eat breakfast for 6.20 €. They charge the use of the computer (1.5€/2hrs). It is a great hostel with a nice staff! The only part missing is the kitchen.

We stayed in a 5-beds room from friday to sunday and were thrilled about the service at check-in and the spacious room. There were no bathroom in our room, but the shared bathroom and showers were one of the cleanest I've every seen. Even more clean that at home.

I've stayed at many hostels in Asia, America and Europa and this must be one of the best experience. Though the food and breakfest could have been better, but what do you expect of 5 euros;)

They hostel also offers pub-to-pub tour and other guided tours, but we did not have the chance to participate on any of these tours.

Hey Louise, sorry for the delayed reply. Hopefully this is still helpful. The hostel has a bar in it and the crowd seemed to be typically of drinking age so I'm not so sure it would be the best option to bring kids.

They will charge you. Plus it's not too close to main central station or airport in Berlin. I wouldn't recommend. You can look up for a luggage room that is more convenient location wise.
