We chose to return our rental car here in Augsburg and catch a train to Salzburg here to avoid the crowds in Munich for Oktoberfest. This was a much bigger city than I expected. It is also a college town. While traveling in the USA, Holiday Inn Express are usually a safe bet for a one night stay. We were not disappointed. The room was clean and comfortable as was the bed. This is only one of 2 hotels that had AC out of the 10 we stayed in. Breakfast was the usual Holiday Inn buffet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Made sure out taxi arrived on time. There is a great burger place across the street that you should try. All and all, we were glad we chose this hotel and would recommend it if you are traveling thru Augsburg.

An affordable hotel for a short stay or when passing through. Fresh rooms and a good breakfast buffet if you don't have to have scrambled eggs and bacon.

Close to shopping centers and about 20 minutes on foot into the city.

Extra plus also because it is dog friendly.

The room is modern and the shower is invitingly large.

Drawback: There is no fridge and you should keep the windows closed as it is located on the main road and therefore very noisy.

Positive:
Free ice cube service. You can hand in medication and batteries at reception to be cooled/frozen. Forgotten disposable razors, toothbrushes, etc. can be obtained free of charge at reception

What the Hollyday in Express hotel Augsburg in Germany does to customers is unacceptable and subject to legal action for false advertising. the hotel sells rooms with air conditioning and turns off the air in the hotel. I want my money back. the hotel has no right to say how I want to sleep if it has put the room on sale with air conditioning. First, the attendant on the first night (02/10/23) said they were turning it off because it was winter (which is unbearably hot). later, the attendant said that I should change hotels before checking in when I found that there was no air. the other attendant, tonight (03/10/23) said that the hotel had a list of rooms where the air conditioning worked and another list of rooms that didn't work and had the outrageous to send me to two rooms where the system turns on but doesn’t worth at all. the truth is that the hotel wants to save money over the customer with false advertising. I want my money back, I'm outraged, because I slept very badly and I would never stay in a hotel without air conditioning without being fully aware of it. I doubt that in Six Senses, which is part of the same group as Holliday Inn the air is turned off at some point. The manager is in completely silence. I expect the total refund of the expenses of the reservation.

We had already booked four rooms in October 2023 for the weekend in May 2024 - due to a wedding celebration. We asked by phone two days beforehand whether an earlier check-in from 12:30 would be possible for at least two of the rooms. We have no right to this - but it's still a shame that it didn't work out on site.

But: none of the four rooms were available for the promised check-in at 2:00 p.m. And check-in was delayed for another 5 couples in the wedding party because the rooms had not yet been cleaned. At 2:30 p.m. we had two of the reserved rooms available, and then the third at 2:45 p.m. - with the wedding scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m., my nervousness increased a little. So we gratefully accepted the offer of the extremely friendly receptionist and changed in the staff changing room. Even when we hadn't been allocated a room when we left for the wedding reception at 3:15 p.m., we didn't lose our good mood in view of the upcoming celebration. But when we found out at 11:45 p.m. from one of our family members that we wouldn't have a room available in this hotel that night, the party came to an abrupt end, our good mood evaporated, and a relaxed end to the celebration for the next morning over breakfast together was a thing of the past.

As it turned out, the hotel was simply overbooked. So it's not a mistake that can happen because people make mistakes, but rather a planned mistake, the consequences of which the reception staff on site have to pay for. Neither the supervisor nor the general manager showed up to avert the foreseeable disaster or to develop a truly appropriate solution.

I booked in here for three nights whilst visiting my son.

The room was excellent, very clean, fresh decor, bathroom was really nice, spacious and good shower, easy access to the lift and room using a card. Can't fault the room at all.

The hotel is well situated, not right in the centre but a 10 min walk will get you there. Plenty of local and easy to reach trams and buses to get you around, scooters just down the road or walk as I did to get around.

The breakfast was included, continental, everything you need and plenty of it.

The bar in the evening is nice to relax in, I had drink each evening to end the day, enjoyed it.

Finally the staff are very nice. The guy on reception stood out, he was so kind, happy and cheerful. He really must make difference to peoples stay, nothing was too much trouble for him.

I will stay again when next visiting.

French bed in double room. Carpet in the room. Renovated bathroom, large shower with hot and abundant water but empty foam shower dispenser. Liquid soap dispenser at the sink, but absence of other courtesy kits.
Good choice for savory breakfast, but very scarce of sweets: only 3 types of frozen and very fatty croissants, and various jams.
From a 4 star I expect more

This is a budget-oriented Holiday Inn at Augsburg. The pro is that the room rate is relatively low.
It charges an additional EUR 15 per night to park in the hotel parking lot. And everytime you drive out, you need to bring the card to the front desk to validate, which allows your car to drive out within 15 minutes of validation (you do get in and out advantage for the parking rate). There does not seem to be much parking option around the neighborhood.
The room is small but clean. The breakfast is basic but adequate.

The evening before we arrived, we were informed by email that there was a problem with our booking for 4 double rooms and that we had been rebooked into another hotel.
This despite the fact that we had already booked in January.
The newly booked hotel was now at the other end of the city.
The rooms were very small and there was no breakfast.
This was for 3 nights.
We are still very disappointed with the way guests are treated here.
This hotel was definitely not an alternative. If a mistake is made, we expect an equivalent offer or a higher one at the expense of the person responsible.
We will avoid this hotel chain in the future

I had an OK stay at the Holiday Inn Express in August. Staff was very friendly and accommodating (providing an iron and board to iron a shirt), room was clean and modern. As you would expect from a Holiday Inn Express, it lacked any charms and amenities (no mini bar). Breakfast was good, Internet worked well. On the down side, there was mold in the bathroom, and the hotel is next to a very noisy road, so turn on the AC (yes, there is AC) and keep the windows closed. Or ask for a room facing away from the road. 20 to 25-minute walk to the station, 10 minutes into the old town. There is a burger joint across the street (Hans im Glueck), which is good to know as there is no restaurant at the hotel itself.

Dear Guest, Thank you for booking with us. The best way, if you do not have a rental car, to get to Munich is by Train. It does leave very frequently and takes between 30 min to 50 min. This is from Augsburg main station to Munich Main Station. Prices vary between 12-24 EUR. A good alternative is the Bavaria ticket, it allows you to travel with up to 5 People and you are able to use all public Transportation in Bavaria.(Besides the ICE Train). Within Munich the Underground Trains and the Trams are a great way to get around. A good Stop in Munich is Marienplatz/City Center, a lot of things are Close by. Do not hesitate to contact us if you Need more information, Best regards Julia Lopac-Gates Sales Coordinator
