You place great importance on quality and want to be right in the middle of Munich's city life? Then Platzl Hotel Munich and its culinary offerings are the address for you. This traditional four-star Superior Hotel and its two popular restaurants - the Pfistermuhle and Wirtshaus Ayingers - are located in the heart of Munich's old city, right beside the famous Hofbrauhaus. And just a short walk from the Marienplatz, the Bavarian State Opera, Maximilianstrasse and Viktualienmarkt. The Inselkammer family and its team combine Bavarian hospitality and traditional style elements with a modern lifestyle and state-of-the-art technology. It begins with a warm welcome in the foyer, continues through the 167 guest rooms and only ends when you leave Munich through the city's historic quarter. This combination of tradition and modernity also creates the ideal setting for private celebrations such as birthdays or weddings, but also conferences and seminars. Your visit should also include a taste of the culinary offerings at our two restaurants - because gastronomy has a long tradition at the Platzl. As early as the beginning of the last century, the Platzl stage was graced not just by cabaret giants such as Karl Valentin. Good Bavarian food also made repeat appearances, being served to guests before and after the performances. Today, the Pfistermuhle is synonymous with sophisticated Bavarian cuisine - at Munich's only preserved city mill. Since the year 2000, people from Munich and elsewhere have enjoyed the hearty regional dishes at Wirtshaus Ayingers, which is next door, while the charming stores and eateries in the "Platzlgassen" add to the lively atmosphere in the Platzl. Our outside bar the Platzl Karree presents a unique bar concept in Munich's old town. Because of the stylish and yet down-to-earth design the fine balancing act between tradition and modernity with the Platzl Karree is perfectly realized. The dominating colors anthracite with burgundy and the dark parquet flooring create a bar to relax and enjoy. In the new Josefa Bar & Kaffee we serve locally produced unique spirits, cool beverages with herbs freshly from the Viktualien market and own cocktail creations.

I stayed only one night and did not take advantage of any of the hotel facilities, but the room was very comfortable with a great bed, nice decor, and a great shower. The staff at the front desk was welcoming and helpful I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Would not recommend - The hotel accused us of stealing. We stayed in this hotel for four night this January. The hotel was OK and the location is good. However we feel a bit ripped off because when we arrived at the hotel we where told that our 4 star hotel room didn't include

Forget about the stupidly expensive hotels on Maximilianstraße, this hotel is 5 minutes away and is very personal with great rooms and nice service. It also benefits from being half price on the above hotels. Extremely comfortable with the classic warm German welcome and good

Dear Buckers1980, thank you very much for the great review you gave us. We are very happy that we were able to welcome you as our guest. Especially on the fact, that we are a small family owned hotel I am very happy about your feedback. It’s not easy for us to compete with other larger hotels. But your wonderful review shows us that we are on a good way to reach our aims. We are happy to welcome you soon again. Best regards Heiko Buchta-General Manager

The area of the hotel was wonderful, there are quite a few restaurants and bars all around, the groceries is not far and as a whole it felt very safe all throughout the day and night. The front desk was very helpful and polite. The breakfast is good but expensive, considering

Dear KaterinaDyrda, Thank you very much for the review, you published on Tripadvisor. We really appreciate that you took the time to write down your experience you made at our Hotel Platzl Hotel. Our location is definitely one of the things we are very proud of. We are very fortunate to be able to provide you with just a few minutes away from the town square, must-see attraction and modern- day conveniences as close by as it can be. We are located right in the heart of Munich's old town, surrounded by a multitude of dining choices and we offer an individual service. That's why I think are prices for the New Year ’s Eve are justified. We are part of a program called "Umweltpakt Bayern" helping to treat our environment with care. One important step is to minimize water consumption. That's why we have the policy here at the hotel to change the bed linen every three days and the towels only when you put them on the ground. We appreciate it to welcome you again. Best regards Heiko Buchta-General Manager

The hotel does not offer a shuttle. Just take the SBahn 1 train to Marienplatz stop. The hotel is a very short walk from there. It’s much cheaper than a taxi.

We found the beds to be very large and I reckon you would be fine sharing it with a young child.

We used a tour company called tours by locals that you can google. Our tour guide was Jay who actually started out doing Oktoberfest tours but took us on a tour of Neuschwanstein and the surrounding area. We would recommend him as he was a very good tour guide. He can tailor a tour for you.
