Despite the good reviews this hotel has (one of the reasons I chose it), we were absolutely not impressed with this hotel.
First, VERY confusing do drive to (one can NOT drive and park in front. Not possible at all. Car should be put directly at nearby parking. We were never informed of this before-hand, although we specifically said we needed a parking place during booking).
Location is indeed central, but given the size of Ulm Altstadt, this is truly not hard...
We got a superior room, and it was indeed a very big room, with a sitting area, very comfortable bed, and huge bathroom. BUT.... We had a bottle of water on our room (tap water), but the water was actually full of stuff inside (looked like fungi; we didn't touch it). Absolutely no tea or coffee amenities (this is a must for a 4*).
Breakfast was also odd. It's corona times, we all need to adapt, but in the end, for 10 euros, we got a very small selection of things to eat (we also needed to tell at which time we wanted to eat; it spoils a bit the holiday freedom).
Price-wise was absolutely correct. It'd be a good 3*. It's a bad 4*; not sure how these classifications work, but something was clearly missing on that one.

Brand new and quite impersonal but ideally located, literally steps from the cathedral and the townhouse. Front desk variable in helpfulness. Nice small sauna but a pity that the gym is in the same room, leaving very little spa to relax. No parking but public parking very close. Try not to have a room over the road, although they are well soundproofed, you hear the cars. Overall excellent for the price and very convenient.

The hotel is very central to Ulm Cathedral. Parking is available in the public underground car park very close by. You can also start some activities from here. The house is tastefully decorated. It is also very clean and tidy in all areas. The room is spacious and very nicely decorated. We also had a room facing the street where the noise level could be heard despite the windows being closed. The mattresses are great, you could sleep very well. The bathroom is also perfectly adequate, you have enough space. The shower is great. The breakfast buffet is varied and the egg dishes are all freshly prepared. There is something for everyone here and anyone who finds nothing is to blame. The whole team was very friendly and accommodating. There's a great team here. You can really feel comfortable and enjoy.

Great hotel in a central location near the cathedral with very friendly staff, incredible breakfast buffet (including freshly squeezed orange juice), very nice, modern, new rooms including a dream bathroom.
I can't understand the previous review. The breakfast buffet offered many branded products and the soundproofing of the rooms on the street was also very good.
Nothing was missing. Unbelievable! Perfect days at the Golden Wheel. Great value for money and very flexible arrangements for short-term cancellations. The best I've experienced in a long time. Thank you!

Never slept so badly in a hotel or guesthouse. We had a room in the 5 sock and the air conditioning according to the description did not exist. The window is to the main road where there is traffic all night and drunks wiggle home. The fan provided could also only swirl around the hot air in the room but not bring cooling.
So man has the choice to choke in the sauna or be constantly disturbed by the noise from the outside.
A restful sleep is unthinkable here.
I'm not staying here again.

Great location close to restaurants and our meeting locations. No parking at the hotel but a public garage is right across the street. Staff is friendly and the rooms very modern and clean. Recommend upgrading to the larger Deluxe rooms as the standard rooms look quite small. Breakfast buffet is extensive.

The hotel is in a very central location, just a few steps from the cathedral. Parking in the nearby public underground car park is convenient. Well-insulated windows keep out the street noise. The breakfast was good and the staff friendly.

Unfortunately, I cannot confirm or understand many of the previous reviews.

First the positive:
- very central location
- spacious room with large bathroom and good facilities
- very nice, friendly check-in

But:
- room facing the street was unacceptably loud

- in contrast to check-in, the employee at check-out didn't open her mouth: when we got to reception, no greeting, we took the money without comment, no question about our satisfaction, no "goodbye", no "have a good trip" - just silent

- at breakfast, nothing was cooled that should have been cooled and nothing was warm that should have been

- who likes cold meatballs, cold pancakes, cold Kaiserschmarrn? - or what about smoked salmon, cheese, sausage, egg salad, sausage salad, etc. that are left unrefrigerated for hours in high summer temperatures?

- in addition, all products are completely open and unprotected without any "cough protection"

- the range is quite extensive - but we would have preferred quality rather than quantity

This should not classified as a Hotel!! Family called five times, first two times the agent on the phone ask to call back because she does not speak English! Imagine English is international language yet someone who does not speak English get hired to work in hospitality! Called couple days later, another woman answered the phone saying the reception is closed and she cannot transfer the call to the guest room. She first hang up on the phone, then provide a long number to for the caller to call to the room which does not work. Then she lied that she cannot connect the call, do we have to use cellphone to call home. During the conversation on the cellphone, she all the sudden called to the room explain that she received calls but did not transfer because she does not know how!! If this is emergency this so-called hotel is responsible and shamed on the 'hotel'. If you are business travel need things done, do not stay here because they do not provide any services after reception closed at 10 p.m.! In addition, they do not reply to any email inquire before and during your stay.

This hotel couldn't have a better location for tourists but as I was there for business I didn't count location as much of a priority. The room was modern maybe 10 years ago. Very old and boring looking inside but maintains a very high standard of cleanliness which is very respectable. It also has a bit of charm and class WIFI is average speedwise but has a habit of kicking you out after an hour or so and you need to log back in again. Bathrooms are ok, a little on the tight side when it comes to fitting into the shower especially on the higher floors as at 6 foot plus change i had to slouch over to shower. Staff are ok some more friendly than others. Breakfast is a bit up and down. The selection of food is good but lacks some quality. (Bread was extremely dry and would fall apart when trying to cut) Overall it is an average hotel in a great location but needs to maybe modernise a bit without losing its class and charm. Recommend to tourists first and maybe for business try elsewhere.
