This is a short distance from the Mitte, which is only 10min walk away or a couple of tram stops. That does not however mean it is in a quiet area: the principal disadvantage is that it is located on a four lane road with a tram track in the middle. Staying in the building at the back, we thought it noisy the first night, but that was becasue a window was not correctly closed. Once I had realised that, the double glazing meant we were not disturbed, so the location was not in fact a problem, but it might be a different story if you had a room in the main building on the street side. It is worth noting that the hotel has a secure garage on site.

The decor is a mix of traditional styles, and will not appeal to those looking for something Zen, (although they will find solace in the Koi carp pool on the terrace at the rear, which has some of the largest Koi I have ever seen) but the beds were exceptionaly comfortable, with fluffy duvets and once the window issue noted above was solved, we slept very soundly. I don't understand the reviewer complaining about breakfast; although we had the simple Continental breakfast, bread and coffee were refilled on request without extra charge. The real attraction is however dinner and the exceptional wine list, which is of about 90 pages and has the most impressive range of German wines imaginable, often offering the same wine in several vintages. The range of wines available by the glass is also far above the norm. The cooking is not as exceptional as the wine list, but is very good, offering a short selection of imaginatively executed variants on Swabian cuisine. Food and wine is not cheap - this is Stuttgart, but it is not excessive for such a location.

My stay here was pretty good. I thought the hotel was beautiful. I stayed in a "castle room" and it was decent size for one person. I found the shower strange with the glass partition over just half of it so a lot of water ends up on the floor. I think this is a Germany thing though because my next hotel in Munich had the same partition.
Bed was soft and comfy, another Germany quirk is no top sheet but just a duvet. A/C worked well. Breakfast was just ok, lots of breads and cheese and the waitress asked if we wanted an omelette and it was a decent cheese omelette but honestly, we skipped the breakfast the second day because we were underwhelmed.
The Koi pond in back was beautiful! A nice surprise.
Parking was TIGHT so if you have bigger car good luck. Onsite parking was great to have though (for a fee).
I didn't have an ipad in my room but my friend did and she said it didn't really do anything. I also didn't know I had a mini bar in my room until checkout... probably a good thing ;)
All in all enjoyed my stay - staff was very friendly and made me feel welcome.

Absolutely spectacular. Best room I've ever stayed in. Slippers and bathrobes provided. The decor is stunning. We dined in the restaurant and the food was to due for. There was a main waiter with full suit and tie. The sub-waiter only wore a vest. Each time they poured your wine or served you they put their left arm behind their backs. Everything was glad gestures to the sub waiter. They explained every dish they served. The room was beautifully decorated. The spiral staircase was black and gold.

We had an amazing two night stay at Hotel Zurich Weinsteige with our family of three. We arrived at the hotel four hours before scheduled check-in and the hotel was more than happy for us to leave our suitcases whilst we went out and explored Stuttgart. Upon our return we found the staff had already taken all of our luggage up to our room for us. The breakfast is well worth the extra money. All staff were so friendly and helpful from giving us recommendations, maps, calling taxi for us. The hotel is close to a Lidl and numerous pizza and kebab shops for a quick meal. We would definitely stay again.

Charming older mid-priced hotel with great amenities including very friendly service, a/c in rooms, nice terrace with flowers, koi pond, bar, highly rated restaurant, smoking lounge, minibar, good breakfast, and reasonably priced garage parking. It’s true the decor is quite dated but the bed was great, nice down comforter, and the room was quiet. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

I posted a review on booking as well. It took me a while to get the courage to say what happened, as it was such an embarrassing experience... Let me say that I am not a rude person, I do not have a temper, I don't yell or swear or argue ESPECIALLY in public.

I absolutely hate to do this, as I have NEVER had to write such a negative comment ever before, but after the situation I went through I feel it's important to share this information to save pain for anyone else.

#1 they say they are PET FRIENDLY but this is not the case.

They have strict pet policies not specified earlier (online), you are not allowed to leave your pet in the room unsupervised. This is ridiculous and to me does not mean "pet friendly".
I went for lunch and left my 5 Kg dog in the kennel.
I was LECTURED IN THE MAIN RECEPTION AREA about this walking in from lunch!

SWF here, old enough to know better young enough not to care... I had informed the hotel I would be out late. He seemed friendly enough at the time and said I could come and go as I please, just not to forget the key. WELL.

I went out late on a Saturday night. I had every intention to go have some fun and probably come back drunk... My friend brought me back to the hotel and the manager CHASED ME around the hotel and FORCED HIS WAY INTO MY ROOM to "find" my friend who was NOT ALLOWED to stay OR visit me. I was not offered to pay a stipend for a late night visitor, but instead was yelled at and chased around the hotel at wee hours of the night. The fact that this large burly old man BARGED into my room (actually pushed his way into it while I was trying to shut the door) was SCARY and definitely not the way I would want to feel in ANY hotel establishment.
*No visitors past midnight, also not mentioned. Oh, and no sex allowed apparently. (this was made clear by his commenting later on how he knew what I was up to and that kind of behavior was unacceptable. How did he ever have children? Sheesh.)

He embarrassed me the following morning (when I went expecting an apology) by YELLING AT ME me in front of his staff (and anyone else to walk through the reception area) about the state of my room, condoms in the garbage, leaving my dog alone in the room, and using the back entrance to remove my luggage. (supposedly also forbidden.) At this point I was so infuriated I demanded to check out a night early, but was still charged 2 full nights. I paid 300$ for 1 night and a horrible experience! I felt like a child being reprimanded for not knowing the rules.
Which, I should mention, the manager will make up anything to be a rule if he doesn't approve of you or your lifestyle. I would NOT recommend this location to ANYONE under the age of 50 or who is sexually active, drinks alcohol, or is seeking pet friendly.

I was so disappointed as this was to be a treat, and it is a lovely hotel with a good location.
Just be careful with the old man, clearly he has left his youth behind long, long ago.

The best thing about Hotel Wortz is the proprieter, Richard Scherle. Herr Scherle was most kind and warm. He has an old-world graciousness and sense of history and tradition. Whenever we saw him, he would share stories of his travels around the world, which were very interesting. We were scheduled to stay 2 days, but we liked it there so much that we asked if we could stay an additional 2 days, at the same rate (internet discount rate), and Herr Scherle immediately agreed. On our last night at the hotel, when we came in late in the evening, he offered us a glass of wine, which turned out to be a local eis-wine, which was scrumptious.

Our timing was a little off, we arrived just as the restaurant was closing for two weeks for their annual vacation. Don't make the same mistake - the restaurant has a very high reputation with our friends who lived in the town, and you should make plans to eat there. Even though the restaurant was closed for dinner, it was open for breakfast every morning. The buffet breakfast had dozens of choices, including many different kinds of fresh local breads and cheeses, jams, meats, etc. It was quite filling and very tasty.

I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Don't forget to leave your key with the front desk as you leave each day, and retrieve it when you return. There is only one key per room, and if you take it with you, then they can't enter the room (e.g. the "maid" can't make up the room). Not a big problem, as soon as they saw us enter, the "maid" made up the room right away.

My father and I stayed here for 4 nights in October. The hotel is on a fairly busy road but it is right near the u-bahn station. We were in room 256 in the smaller building behind the hotel (I think they refer to it as the castle). The windows kept out all of the street noise so that wasn’t a problem for us. That building has an elevator, which was great since my father has problems going up stairs. The room was clean and the bathroom was a really good size. The people at the front desk were really amazing. They took out luggage up to the room for us on the first and gave great restaurant recommendations. I want to give an extra thank you to the woman with blonde hair and glasses at the front desk. I’m sorry I don’t remember her name but she gave us directions to several places and was extremely helpful. All of the staff were really wonderful. We didn’t eat at the hotel because we jet-lagged the first night and they were closed on Sunday and Monday. Breakfast was fabulous though. We liked the little details they offered like tea made with tea leaves and not tea bags. We would definitely stay here again.

I read some bad reviews and I can't understand what warranted that reaction?! Our room was very large. Sure, it wasn't the most stylishly decorated but the bedding was phenomenal, so comfortable. The bathroom was fully renovated and very large! The hotel does not have AC so if it's hot out be prepared! We were also pleased with the breakfast. We were just passing through Stuttgart so this was the perfect resting spot. Also, very easy onsite parking garage.
