Detailed Reviews
I have visited Stuttgart 8 times and in the past have always stayed at bigger hotels in the city centre. As I was going to run in the Stuttgart Half Marathon I thought that it would be a good idea to find somewhere nearer to the start/finish of the race. I couldn't have found a better place to stay than Gasthof zur Traube. The owner and all the staff were very helpful and I was allowed to check out late on the final day of my stay at no extra cost. I had dinner on Friday and the menu was excellent, with plenty of local produce. I look forward to returning to this hotel next year.

We had 2 great nights at Gasthof Traube in September 2019. We stayed in a double room with an en suite bathroom and shower. The room was a decent size. There is a restaurant on the first floor but we only ate there for breakfast which was very nice. They have a nice enclosed biergarten area, but since we visited late in the season, this was not open. We were in Stuttgart to visit the Cannstatter-Volksfest, so the location is very good, walking distance to the wasen, but we soon learned that it was easier to walk to the U-Bahn station Mineralbäder and take the U11 to station Cannstatter Wasen which lets you out right in front of the fest. The owners and the staff were fantastic. They do an in-house laundry service for a small fee, which is very nice on a long holiday. My wife had broken her leg earlier in our trip and still could not get around very well, so they took very good care of us. Even running me in his private car to a bank to get some Euro’s out as we had just come from Switzerland and had no Euro. To me this hotel (and staff) is like a gem you find in smaller villages….but it’s in the big city. I highly recommend this hotel and its people.

We spent two nights at this traditional family run hotel on our way down to Lake Garda. It is in an ideal location to visit the Mercedes Benz Museum which was an easy 45 minute flat walk from the hotel alongside River Neker. Whilst this stretch of the river isn't the prettiest riverside walk ever, the Mercedes test track runs alongside so we did get to see a few cars going through their paces from a bridge near the museum. The hotel itself seems to attract more businessmen than tourists but the staff were very welcoming. The menu was in German but Barbara kindly recommended some Swabian dishes for us and we had such a nice meal on the first night we decided to stay for the second. We parked on the road outside of the hotel but there was a car park fairly close by. We had a comfortable and quiet night's sleep and a good breakfast. We would certainly stay in this hotel if we are in the area again.

I have stayed in Gasthof Traube for 2 nights. I had a small room in the 2nd Floor. Room was clean .
Wifi in 2nd floor was not stable. Area for improvement.
Location is good. Breakfast Basic but everything was fresh.
Hotel is a good choice if you need budget option for short staying. Price for my room according the infos was 65 Euro per night incl breakfast.

+1
Very nice hotel near the U-bahn with friendly owners and nice atmosphere! I can definitely recommend it for long staying! I was surprised by breakfast: many fruits, berries, cheeses, even different types of honey!😍

The rooms are a decent size, spotlessly clean and the wifi works reasonably well. But its a pain of you arrive out of hours - i.e. during the afternoon when everything is closed up. Staff were helpful in assisting us with taking luggage up the narrow stairs (impossible for wheelchairs). There are tea/coffee facilities but we were lent a kettle. Breakfast, to be honest, was pretty thin with far less choice than similar Gasthofs. However to balance that the mananger pulled out all the stops when we found out that there had been an error in our booking and phoned round some 15 hotels before finding a vacant room. The young lady employee was also very helpful with our other problems.

Good, clean room & good breakfast. Only a few hundred yards from a U-Bahn stop and only 20 minutes walk from bars, restaurants & shops on the other side of the river. You could walk to the football ground in 30 minutes. The people running the place were lovely. We had a twin room with shared bathroom but it was 2 toilets & one bathroom for 3 rooms so not a problem at all

We enjoyed staying here. The restaurant downstairs had traditional german food which was great and included excellent schnitzel. Shared bathroom worked out ok. There is limited off street parking. Breakfast was good and filled us up for the morning. It is near the tram station so easy to get into town centre. We had a quiet couple of nights sleep which was good. Only issue was that the shower only had a drizzle and was difficult to get wet under.

I booked late at a time when many of the hotels in Stuttgart were fully booked. The rate was very competitive. If you're going to the Messe it's 5 to 10 mins away by taxi which is approx €11/trip. The hotel is traditional German style with exposed timber beams and some heavy dark wood furnishings. It does a great breakfast - well worth it.
My visit was for business reasons and while there is wifi it is not adequate. Only my phone would connect and it ran slowly. My laptop never got connected. This is an issue for me and one that all hotels need to talke seriously to get happy customers and repeat business.
The room I had was huge and clean, even if some of the decor was and eclectic mix and a little 'frayed' in places.
I found the people completely charming in every respect and very helpful.
Would I stay there again? Yes, if I could be assured of proper wifi. It is much more interesting than the standard business hotel.
